Never Mind. Impeachment Is Schumer's Sham After All.

This morning, I noted that I would start taking the Senate impeachment trial seriously because they had voted to summon witnesses.

Never mind.

They have decided to abandon calling witnesses and abandon the impeachment trial altogether to get on to supposedly more important things.

Ironically, had they summoned witnesses, they could have deposed them and suspended the trial until the depositions so that they could advance COVID and confirmation hearings.

They did not.

A year ago, Chuck Schumer said an impeachment trial without calling witnesses to be examined was definitionally a sham. This impeachment is Chuck Schumer’s sham.

People mad at the outcome should complain to the Democrats who voted to call witnesses, then caved.

Mitch McConnell is still, in effect, the Majority Leader and Democrats just got played by their own side.
