Whatever shenanigans you believe are going on with crypto, remember this president lost a lot of money dealing with democrat witch hunts and bs prosecutions like the Gene Carroll case.

I'm confused by the assertion that "If we have a system that will throw wealthy white parents in jail for gaming the system, we also need a system that throws immigrant fraudsters in jail for gaming the system." I mean, are the people who have committed fraud in Minnesota not being prosecuted?

Love your closing sentence, though. You've noticed the shameful goings on of this administration after all.

Speaking of scams and frauds, has Stacey Abrams grifting NGO she set up ever paid back the $2 billion that Joe Biden gave her before he left office? Also, I prefer the immigrants be deported, otherwise taxpayers have to pay tens of thousands per person per year in the prison system just to house and feed them.

The national “legacy” media is all onboard with the redistributionist policies in MN. These incipient Marxists and Maoists believe in their heart of hearts that the abundance of the US (and Europe) is unfair and unequal when compared to the “global south” ie BIPOC countries. They believe the only way that things can be fair and equal is to take from one and give to the other …. À la Robin Hood …. They are not interested in any facts or morality that contradicts their ideology and “feelings”. These people have a warped understanding of reality. They believe we should be ok with the fraud, so long as it benefits BIPOC (don’t forget the vig to look the other way). Any exposure of it or criticism of this resource extraction will be fought tooth and nail and be considered racism.

Remember, the neo Marxist creed, call everything racist until you control it. Shut down any criticism by calling it racist

There is NO REAL oversite in govt, there are pages & pages of rules/regs/forms but from top to bottom very little oversite on where/who/what it goes to. There has always been graft & bribery but most people grew up with a moral code of doing the right thing such as not stealing. Those values have been eroding and a sense of well they do it, why shouldn't I? I don't get _______, I work hard, my tax dollars anyway, they won't miss it, I need it more, etc. Now we add entitlement to that and a sense of who cares I don't want to get involved. Unfortunately there is huge money to be made especially in the "Charities" Congress, State & local govts must stop spending, and you don't need all these overlapping multiple programs. We must start holding govts accountable and ourselves when we see it happening. I hope Trump listens and goes!

Interesting final paragraph: "Frankly, given the crypto-shenanigans and other shady dealings happening now with the present Administration, they could stand to look like they’re taking all the fraud and system gaming seriously."

In other words, let's ignore that Trump, along with his MAGA cronies and wealthy donors, are by far the most corrupt and criminal administration in the history of the US. I mean, grifters gonna grift, and I'm okay with that. Instead, let's make a show of the fraud being perpetrated by brown folks, especially those who are immigrants. Doing so will satisfy the racist MAGA/GOP base enough to ignore the lawlessness and immorality of this administration.

I don’t understand the logic -also, I’m not trying to and don’t care to debate - that arresting a non white person for committing a crime is racist.

Anyway, go touch some grass.

Neil McKenna's avatar

The logic is that there is fraud going on in Minnesota and there is also fraud going on in D.C. Because of the MAGA predisposition against the immigrant fraudsters in Minnesota, it will be used to distract the faithful from the right-in-your-face corruption of this administration. If you don't understand Dan's point now, it is not because you are not trying to, but because you are trying not to.

We've always had people defrauding the government. However, we have never before had a President who so shamelessly profits from the position of trust that he holds.

The MAGA label was due to your lack of reading comprehension (which, by the way, is stated directly in my comment, further confirming my assessment of your reading skills). However, your immediate concern about your racism might necessitate an internal evaluation of your implicit biases.

I'm uncertain whether MAGA's lack of education or lack of ethics is the primary factor, but the idea of only holding "The Left" accountable while ignoring the crimes and corruption of Dear Leader and his lackeys seems to be a consistent theme in MAGA World. To me, it's more than a bit sad that Erick plays along. He's smarter than that, and, last I checked, he claimed to be a Christian. I'm no theologian, but I assume Jesus wouldn't make ethical distinctions based on political party.

Too bad the Left does exactly that.

I'm not too critical of Erick. He has to make a living and he does a better job of being honest than 90 percent of his contemporaries. As to ethics or education, I know too many MAGA people who are very intelligent but always go all in on whoever is the Republican leader. That's why most of them were neocons when Bush was president and easily switched to isolationists when Trump got in. They will assume whatever "ideology" the next Republican president comes up with. So I'd go with lack of ethics.

I don’t like the shady dealings of this administration either Dan, but I don’t think fraud on any “side” is about race.

Expand full comment
dan's avatar

Beverly, I fully agree, in that I also do not think fraud, in itself, is about race. The part that is about race is the response to the fraud. This Somali story is whipping up the typical MAGA racism - just look at any of the comments sections about this story in MAGA media. "Deport the Somali terrorists" seems to be the common refrain.

Unlike the MAGA/GOP, I am a strong believer in auditing and oversight. The Trump administration fired all nonpartisan inspectors general at basically every cabinet department, paving the way for fraud and abuse; the Trump administration cut funding for IRS agents, making it easier to to engage in tax fraud; the Trump administration weakened federal cybersecurity efforts, facilitating the perpetration of many types of fraud.

I want the law thrown at any person guilty of fraud. Those daycare operators should be prosecuted for their crimes, and, if Walz looked the other way, he should resign at the very least. Moreover, most "progressives" or "liberals" feel the same way I do. However, with Orange Jesus, there is never the same desire among the MAGA/GOP for accountability. They whine about the "Somali terrorists" but look the other way or provide a rubber stamp as Trump and his cronies use the power of the government (pardons, access, bribes, crypto deals) for personal enrichment.

The wealthy have $$$ to fight in court, whereas the middle class doesn't as much. That is one reason the wealthy are not indicted.

That is an excellent idea for Trump to go to Minnesota to highlight what is going on. Also he needs to go to California to highlight that fraud. Perhaps he should bring Elon Musk with him. 😁

Any indictments in the GA election case has to be in reference to hiding the evidence and the SoS Raffensberger not doing his job properly and not certifying the election correctly.

All along, we have said that there were things going on in the 2020 election that were out of sorts in the swing states and that they should be investigated. They never were. Now that it "doesn't matter" and we cannot go back all of the information is being let out.

With regard to the indictments that you speak of in the Georgia election case, I think EE's point was that the lack of any such indictments tells us something about whether any of the alleged impropriety ever really occurred.

dennis mcconaghy's avatar

Totally agree.

Trump should be in Minnesota next Monday.

That woud force fundamentally biased news organizations like the NYT and CNN to concede that what occurred in Minnesota was the inevitable consequence of leftist governance.

And men like Walz and Ellison should be fully exposed for thier indifference and complicity.

Expand full comment
Neil McKenna's avatar

Unless fraud has occurred each and every time there is "leftist governance," it would be illogical to conclude that what seems to have happened in Minnesota was "inevitable."

By the way, have you noticed how many more Republican politicians have been convicted of crimes than Democrats in recent years? Except for people (like Letitia James) who have crossed Trump, where are Bondi's indictments of corrupt Democratic politicians?

If the Democrats have a policy, it seems more and more to be little other than gaming the intentionally porously designed system for individual personal enrichment at the expense of taxpayers. The people on the ground who are involved in the childcare operations scam, e.g., may have the ulterior multi-level motive of personal enrichment while they are ideologically-driven focused on conquering the USA, but just how many politicians and bureaucrats from State and Federal levels are receiving scam money skim-off?
