One or the Other and Both Not Good

First, that was a good game last night, even though I think that holding call was a bad call. The reality is the Chiefs probably would have gotten a touchdown anyway, but the call sucked. The game, however, was fantastic.

Second, I am surprised and probably should not be that there are people who really do think we are witnessing an alien incursion of the earth with these objects being shot down. Honestly, people, if an alien civilization can figure out faster-than-light travel to get to our planet, I promise they’ll have figured out how to avoid being shot down.

I assumed it was facetiousness, like the conservatives complaining about the Chick-fil-A cauliflower sandwich. But, sadly, I can attest through my own email correspondents, etc., there are some people who really think the aliens have arrived.

It takes all kinds.

The reality here is that there are one of two options for the change in American behavior. We’re now shooting down these balloons instead of letting them traverse the continent.

Originally, they told us they feared objects landing on people or buildings. Now, we’re shooting them regularly.

What changed? One of two things.

It could be that they are doing it because of public perception and knowledge. The government changing how it handles things because the public might not like its prior response is a bad thing. Either the balloons were worthy of spending a stinger missile on them or not. That’s bad form.

Or, it could be that we now know what is on the balloons and what they are carrying has provoked a heightened national security response. That such an escalated response has not come with sanctions, etc., against China would also be deeply troubling.

Either way, the Biden Administration has botched this.

At this point, I think the Chinese are probably screwing with us, and some redneck somewhere is equally firing off balloons as a copycat. Ignore the redneck provocation, but the Chinese must be dealt with.

If we do not impose massive sanctions, etc. on these constant incursions, that is a sign of weakness. The Chinese do not behave like Western nations. They do not respect our caution and diplomatic responses.

This administration must stop treating the Chinese like they are just another nation sometimes at odds with us. They mean our nation ill and should be treated as such.

Team Biden is showing itself to be dithering and weak.

But at least we are not the Canadians having to rely on another country to shoot down a balloon.
