One Republican Winner in Georgia. He Got More Votes Than Any Candidate in the Runoff.
An Addendum to This Morning's Post
I should note for everyone nationwide that there was a race in Georgia last night where the Republican candidate won.
The candidate is named Bubba McDonald. He’s the Chairman of the state’s Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities. McDonald, a Democrat turned Republican, got more votes than any other candidate in any other race. He got more votes than Ossoff, Warnock, Perdue, or Loeffler even though he was the last race on the ballot.
He was in no way connected to Trump; his race was not a referendum of Trump; he did not run on nightmare scenarios, creeping socialism, or culture war; and he kept his head down.
In fact, McDonald had limited money and just focused on keeping power costs low in Georgia. If there is a silver lining for this, it’s that a Republican can win statewide in Georgia and shut out the Democrats if they can find a way to run without every having to talk about Donald Trump.
I still want a hard hitting interview of Collins. How he couldn't stay put is beyond me, of course I'm no politician.
I voted for Trump. Twice. While I am disappointed with the outcome, there was no "widespread" fraud. Republicans, like many Americans, never have things taken from them; they give them away. The Georgia Republican leadership should resign. The President should not run again. It was fun but not real fun. From a purely existential point, our lives will not be wrecked. We should, however, learn from the massive errors of these past election cycles.
Our biggest problem? The GOP has let a personality overshadow common sense and wise prudence. Conservatism is not about personalities, but principles. Sadly, one man who accomplished many good and laudable things could not overcome his narcissistic tendencies to understand what is best for tomorrow.
No matter how much Donald Trump and the Trump supporters wish it, it really isn't all about him. Welcome to the world of adults.
