Stop berating the Haitians-eat-cats story as baseless, because it isn't. The left is going to mock conservatives' talking points regardless of their veracity; you're saying talk about something that doesn't sound so crazy but that shouldn't be the litmus test. Dayton, not Springfield (next door); Congo not Haiti; none of that really matters. The larger point is the insane numbers of foreign migrants arriving in small towns with a completely different cultural background than the lifelong resident Americans. It's disruptive in the extreme and it's facilitated by Biden-Harris.

Not to quibble, but the death rate of >humans< subjected to abortion is almost 100%...and--in some states--those few that survive the 'procedure' may (will?) be 'allowed' to die. I'm certainly in agreement with the general premise of your commentary. However it is illegitimate to equate "serious adverse effects" with death.

The last two sentences ought to be imprinted on the foreheads of every GOP candidate, strategist and publicist.

The day after the election, if the Vice President wins, illegal aliens will continue to pour across the borders, more and more communities will be deluged with these people, and our cities, towns, communities and Nation will be irreparably harmed.

It is interesting the Dems can never state how their letting this happen is GOOD for America.

A quick thought: UNITED, we don't fall prey to the lies of either party. While I appreciate the animated discussions of each candidate's past, it fractures us into ineffective little pissed off silos. And that, my friends, is a strategy employed by BOTH parties because it allows the Roman orgy that DC has become to continue. In my opinion, we need to unite in agreement on what our candidate will do as President and vote accordingly rather than argue about who did what.

The statistics are incorrect. In a study of 47,000 women treated with mifeprex and misoprostol, the incidence of sepsis was 0.01%. Just FYI.

Expand full comment

So that's one case of sepsis in 10,000. Since not every sepsis case ends in death, the death rate is even lower, assuming sepsis is the only potential cause of death.

Sep 19·edited Sep 19

This argument assumes sepsis is the only serious adverse effect to consider. Eric brought up a statistic indicating the FDA lowered the standard significantly to approve Mifeprex, et al - a political move by pro-abortion advocates (Dems by-and-large). A single death due to sepsis was not at issue, FDA's double standard for rate/seriousness of Tylenol side effects vs. Mifeprex side effects was that point.

The other point was the false narrative promulgated by MSM - she couldn't get a D&C in Georgia at all regardless of mother's health. That is patently false, and that narrative arguably killed this woman.

Propaganda can kill innocents - Joseph Goebbels patented the idea...

We are guilty of believing in our own truth. My son got married in May. He had nice invatations sent to about 150 guests. They were mailed from the Northern Virginia sorting center. The invatiations were taken directly to the sorting center. 30% never showed up. and the deliver times streatched to voer 2 months. Some showed up well past the wedding date. Thank god for the free market and a thing called email. Was it the fault of the new Atlanta sorting center? Was it the fault of the inidivual carrier who could not read the caligraphy and just threw away the invatiation? To be honest, I could not read the caligraphy. Or is just an indiaction that a government system is just bad at perfroming various tasks that the free market and easily perfrom?

Politicians lie, we get it. People only hear half what is said to them. The other half is filtered through our own biases. So, memes are not the best approach. But they generally work. And most people do not manage their life on memes.

The abortion debate is simply a tragic issue that our society and western society in general has been trying to wrestle with for many centuries. Did you not say the word abortion came from roman times when christians would go to the local dump and rescue abondoned new borns?

The people that vote demcrat watch ABC. Republicans dont. Why did Trump agree to debate on ABC? Why was Trump not mature enough to ignore they jabs and such and focus on destroying HArris? Becasue Trumnp is just a real esate developer and a TV personality. He is not a life long politiican. HArris has spent her life lieing. Most people know this.

They dont like Trump becasue they want Government ot get bigger. ABout half the country are happy just getting by and If I can start building homes 30 miles north of Atlanta versus renovating homes in west end, my life is better. People can move and trasnition thoughout this country. Since 1950, about 70 house seats have been trasnfered out of the former Union states. The former Confederate States gained about 40 of them. While it would be desaterous for the nation to vote in Harris and deal with her poor leadership skills, we will survive it. We have the house and the Senate to manage the problems. The peole of this nation at some point need to recognize that $35 trillion in debt and trillion in decifiets means bankruptcy. Or a 30% cut in everyones social security check. This willnever happen of course and hard choices will be forced on the nation.

The press may lie but the people don’t. I find it insulting though that Dems would focus sooooo much time on this persons death but yet have ignored the countless deaths caused by illegals in this country.

It’s important to note that had that woman simply decided to have her baby, she would be alive. Same as I have said about these illegals who die while trying to make the very dangerous trek to illegally enter the country. Yet had they stayed home they would be alive.

As I said. The media lies, the public and normal people with common sense see that. This is exactly like 2016. Everyone was assured of a Clinton landslide.

Her support is not as widespread as it seems.

It’s not just the media. The polls are lying as well. There’s not near enough data to suggest Harris has any type of lead that is being advertised. One poll says she is up others down but never in one direction or the other. Then you look at the data and see 48% dem to 26% declared republicans. And then it’s not even likely voters. It’s just people who are “interested” in the campaign.

I’ve had two or three poll interviews on the phone and only been asked once “how likely are you to vote?”

The media is lying. Unfortunately you get people who believe the lies. Then they vote dem and wonder why the nation is in the state it’s in or are so rich and powerful it doesn’t affect them.

Or worse they blame republicans. I seriously know someone who lives in Atlanta who has voted dem mayor after dem mayor for decades and despite all that and me telling her there hasn’t been a republican mayor in 40 years. She still blames republicans for the problems in Atlanta. (Shrug). Stupid is as stupid does.

Uninformed or misled voters is the real threat. The media is essentially a terrorist organization at this point.

What other conclusion is there?

What does the "countless deaths" in your statement '... ignored the countless deaths caused by illegals in this country....' mean? That local authorities don't count the deaths of those suspected of being murdered by an "illegal" who is presumed guilty before any due process? Why do you have illegal in quotations, as if it's debatable? Illegal Aliens is how they are described legally and should be referred to as such. An executive level program isn't the law, as the president can't write laws. Constitutionally, only the congress decides our immigration laws-that's the democratic system at work, not this app system, nor any other bureaucratic programs.

Expand full comment

All the quotation marks are to show I am quoting another person - in this case ChazAtl. I am aware that there are millions of illegal aliens living in this country side by side with millions of legally-resident aliens and several hundred million natural-born and naturalized Americans. Many millions of those illegal aliens entered the country legally with a non-immigrant visa and simply did not leave when their visas expired. I am also aware that American culture is relentless in the acculturation process so that there are millions of illegal aliens who are culturally American - primarily young people - not alien at all. Many do not speak the language of their parents with fluency or perhaps not at all and would find it difficult to function in the country of their legal nationality.

Expand full comment

Thanks for clarifying. That's what happens when I don't practice my close-reading skills.

One of the side effects of congress abdicating its role in managing immigration as closely as it's supposed to is the executive branch devising various schemes, creating reasons to provide visas, but without proper checks and follow-up. Another consequence of a government that's too big. Combine that with any children of theirs that are born here now granted citizenship status, we're in a mess. That's why the sooner people are returned, the better.

You're correct about the acculturation process, but it's superficial, IMO, and not the same as assimilation with an understanding of our civic life. Our schools stopped teaching what it means to be an American, the function of government in our society, and the responsibility of the citizen. We have native born who are equally ignorant, and this ignorance has now infected the Republican Party. All of this creates a society that is disconnected.

The Tea Party Movement needs to be recharged-it encouraged learning about our Founders and connecting on the local level, imbuing the "American Spirit" into the populace, again.

We have millions who have come into the country since 2010, who -along with native- have been left ignorant by the school system which need to be educated and inspired with Americanism. On a basic level, we need patriotism and pomp-and-circumstance locally on up to the national level on national holidays (a pride in the country which has been beaten out of us), and get these obnoxious, unserious Populists out.

This became somewhat of a rant...

"The media lies, the public and normal people with common sense see that." Unfortunately, the "normal" are NOT the ones casting the deciding, battleground state votes. Is the reporting on polls suppressing Republican votes by convincing Republicans, one way or another, their vote will not matter? If so, that's on the Republican voter. If there is a silent majority they all need to vote because its a privilege. Your suggestion that this is like 2016 might be wishful thinking. I hope somehow there is a huge Republican turnout that leaves no doubt because a contested election will further divide this country of ours.

This is incredible Erick, in your effort to point out media deception you resort to your own deception - Bravo.

First you rehash your favorite false equivalency about Trump's refusal to accept the results and that of Abrams, Gore, and Clinton. While they lost and cried about it or challenged it in the courts and then dropped it after losing in the courts he spent months illegally trying to change the outcome of the election as President going OUTSIDE the courts - including repeatedly calling governors and secretaries of state to change their state's outcome, recruiting slates of fake electors to defraud the government, organizing a "stop the steal" rally that was obviously going to turn violent at the capitol, and coercing his VP to unilaterally make him president. It's these actions that obviously make him a threat to democracy. So when the media point out that he is again preparing to challenge the elections results its with the back drop that he will also obviously attempt to coordinate with local election and state election officials to change results for him as he tried in the past. You know better Erick

Also - you are making it seem like this drug kills 1 in 300 people - I read the link, it causes a major adverse reaction in 1 in 300 people. The actual mortality is much lower so while yes its much more dangerous than tylenol it isn't as deadly as you make it seem. Also - the proper comparison would be - what is the mortality of D&C procedures.

I agree with your broader point that the media is full of sh_t, that Kammala lies with near impunity, and so does MsM - but Erick, look in the mirror.

The dems hold grudges that last decades. I bet you will still find idiots among the liberal press and politicians who are upset about Gores loss and claim he actually won. People seem to forget but Dems don’t.

But I guess I’m just looney and never heard of that right?

by "dropping it" I mean they didn't take illegal efforts outside of the courts to try to change the outcomes of their elections. If you truly believe otherwise, I pity you.

Didn’t Stacey form a group in GA that basically proved to be the foundation of the efforts in ga such as door to door ballot harvesting, showing people how to fill out the mail in ballot FOR family members that couldn’t. Going to neighborhoods and collecting ballots and putting them into ballot boxes.

All of that is technically illegal. But it was looked over because of Covid.

Ballot boxes with no ID checks or accountability are technically by Georgia law illegal.

Expand full comment

I haven't followed closely what she has done. If there is evidence that she or her group has broken the law in Georgia I am sure that she would have been charged, if not shame on GA's AG.

Expand full comment

I didn't say she did anything illegal. In fact Ive never used the word "Stolen" although others that I know have. I have never personally come out and said anything was stolen. Stolen = a crime committed. Which is not what happened. What did happen was Covid used as an excuse to bend the rules and make things previously illegal, legal. Like Ballot harvesting.

Not too long ago in NC, I don't remember the exact details a republican was elected and it was later found out a campaign member went to a family members house, collected an absentee ballot and sent it in for them. All heck broke loose and the election was actually re-done.

Fast forward to 2020 and that practice was used over and over. Erick even sighted from the movie 10000 mules, or whatever its name was, a video of a man putting 5 ballots into a drop box. It was later found out he was just a family member dropping ballots for them. Fine, whatever. BUT technically that is illegal. Or would have been in the past.

During 2022 and the runoff while waiting in line, I saw a man walk in with a Warnock shirt on, take 20 ballot and drop them in the box, smile and walk out. Again, that's ballot harvesting.

Technically illegal but its overlooked.

SO, sorry to take so long to get to my point. I didn't say Stacey did anything illegal. As neither did Trump do anything illegal. He whined and moaned and said words. He never directed operatives to go into neighborhoods and collect ballots like Stacey did. Again, not illegal under our current laws. But Trump never did that.

But yet he was brought up on charges of election interference which technically there is no real law to prosecute under. Thats why Fanni and all them had to make stuff up. So Trump did nothing illegal neither did Stacey and her minions.

Chaz we will always disagree on your statement "Trump didn't do anything illegal". I encourage you to actually read the DC indictment if you have not already done so https://www.justice.gov/storage/US_v_Trump_23_cr_257.pdf

Then listen to his call with Raffensperger, Hear what Pence says about what Trump pressured him to do, and look at the submission's from Trump's fake electors. I know doing this won't change your mind or vote, but I think more people need to see Trump for what he is so we go into his next term eyes wide open.

For that matter and to see how little he regards the law or thinks it applies to him, I encourage you to read the FL indictment which includes the cooperation of his Mar A Lago IT person Yuscil Taveras (Trump Employee 4) and messages between his staff of idiots in cited in the court document below. 50 years ago their were maybe 10 entities that drove the news cycle the primary one being The NY Times. There were 3 TV networks, 3-4 national newspapers and a couple of magazines.

Nixon won a landslide in 1972. The media hated him.

12 years later Reagan won in a landslide. The media hated him too.

Stop it about the freaking media. Yes the MSM hates Trump. I don’t like the AH either. But the GOP is not facing a media controlled by a few entities. It is infinitely more diverse.

And anyway Trump and his minions trigger the media and thereby creates the media chaos. I’m personally sick of it all.

Umm, voters hated McGovern more than Nixon, no one wanted more of Jimmy Carter. Even the MSM couldn't stop those landslides...

Today MSM has online bully pulpit 24/7 and our society has become addicted to phones, tablets and PCs/Macs. The deluge of "data" (whether facts or narrative) is a constant barrage. Who controls MSM controls much of the narrative for a significant portion of the US population. Our current society is growing less critical in their thinking, we're exhausted by all the garbage from both sides, many give up on sifting for true information.

In addition, my wife commented recently that our sons (in their 30's) are surrounded by co-workers that can't make their own decisions on anything, looking for Google to direct their lives. Given the low signal-to-noise ratio in Google or internet in general, well, you do the math.

I agree that Trump won't be president after 2028 if he wins. I just think it is a narrow view to assume the only damage that he can do to our democracy is by not relinquishing power at the end of his term (just because that was his attempt last time.)

He could condition Israel's foreign aid on Netanyahu attacking is political enemies with false accusations, he could order his DoJ to imprison his perceived enemies, he could have ABC's broadcast license revoked because he was embarrassed at the debate, and he could go with the whole overturn an election thing again to favor his chosen successor. He could create a death by a 1000 cuts to democracy scenario - and the pansy asses in the Republican party / conservative media that rely on his cult for votes and profit would freakin cheer him on.

I agree. The only good thing that comes with his winning is he's gone in 4 years. He could do a lot of damage in 4 years, perhaps enough damage to actually cause some his most stalwart supporters to have second thoughts. (OK, that's probably not gonna happen but one can fantasize.)

And because I too am concerned about him doing some incandescently stupid things, I won't be voting for him.

I beg your pardon, but I have to make one small correction. ABC doesn't have a broadcast license. Each of the TV stations they own has a license.
