Trump has an ever dwindling hold on the Republican Party. Only a slight majority of Republicans think he controls the party (that doesn't mean they necessarily like him). As for Republicans in Congress that kiss his ring they are more likely opportunist trying to walk a line between not losing Trumper's votes and not losing actual Conservative votes, than actual Trump supporters. Or they are Kevin McCarthy and have absolutely no values and only serve their own power interests.

What the January 6 commission is trying to do is tie the Republican party vis-a-vis Trump, Trumpers, and actual white wing extremists groups.

The problem for the Democrats is what Bernie Sanders said, of your bumper sticker is, 'We can't do much but Republicans would be worse', your going to lose.

It is hard to run against a strawman who was only 2 years ago the President and the world was a better place. It's even harder to gas light people telling them January 6 some how effects them today and inflation, gas, and food prices don't.

Erick, you're closer to these people than me but as far as I am concerned, from the comfort of my computer in Kennesaw I hope Liz Cheney leaves office as soon as humanly possible by whatever means is legally and ethically allowed. I'm not a rabid Trump fan. I just can't stand the words that come out of her mouth every time I see her talk or read something she said. Sorry, but we diverge where she is concerned.

Good analysis, except for the Cheney part. Like anyone else, there was a lot to like and not like about Trump. She went way too far into the "Trump is evil and nothing he does or touches can ever be good" camp. It is a very big blind spot that many have fallen prey to. For example, I agree with 90% of what Russell Moore says, but he showed this glaring blind spot when it was said that no Christian could possibly vote for Trump. It is quite a thing to watch people like him vilify Trump for supposed "misogyny", yet praise Biden, whose friend-of-Ted Kennedy escapades in DC are legendary.

Cheney's over-the-top rhetoric shows how clouded her judgment is, including allowing herself to be used for a series of prime-time democrat infomercials, and therefore I could not vote for her for anything.

These are the same people who thought Russia collusion was legit... hmmm, we are still waiting for Schiff to release all that evidence he had to throw Trump in jail for treason.

"We will move beyond January 6th, but don’t be surprised if you see Democrats act like a lot of Republicans did in 2020. "

Umm, Repubs have been stubborn, recalcitrant, angry, downright pissey, but not violent with the exception of Jan 6. For the left, violence is the go-to for all their anger these days. The Dems will escalate into a BLM-like frenzy, loot, pillage, burn, all in the name of "justice" or some nonsense.

They will react badly to losing. Their reaction is far more like the Weather Underground's response to Vietnam than the Tea Party's response to Dem policies and overreach.

Maybe Congress should take all this new prosecutorial data and do what they should have done back on January 7, 2021. They should Impeach him, AGAIN, and this time CONVICT him thereby precluding him from running for office again. Of course, this will require Republicans with backbone, but I reckon their collective backbone is probably rife with herniated discs due to all that leg-humping....

I think that was the point, they shouldn't have blown their load so early. They should have been more deliberate and methodical. But even now a conviction is not likely.

I do like how you presuppose Trump's guilt by stating it would take Republicans with backbone.

I assume you mean conviction in an impeachment proceeding. And I agree the January 2021 impeachment was bungled by the Democrats. But that's to be expected. They're incompetent. It's obvious that no matter how much evidence comes to light from the commission, there would not be enough Republican Senators to convict former President Trump.

Conviction of Mr. Trump in a criminal proceeding is also a possibility, at least in Fulton County Georgia. I won't go so far to predict an indictment, but I would not be surprised if it happened.

He is not in office so there is no form or bassis to Impeach and remove him pseudo-savant one. FBI issued a report last year (2021) said found not organized activities. Remenber this. There are two sides to every story. Kam and Biden will be out of office before 12-31-2022. Dems will remove Kam and then slide in Hillary or Mochell and then remove Biden under 25th Amendment. Poo Poo and Maw Maw all you care to. More disclosures are coming. Watch between Aug and Oct 31. Everyone has an opinion. But Dems and RINOs opinions are more important and elitiest. Selah

Secretary of War William Belknap was also out of office when he was impeached in 1876.

I'll make a note in my calendar to check the news on December 31, 2022, regarding the political fates of the President and VP.

The January 6 Protest Not Insurrection by real meaning got out of hand and Mob Mentality took over. There seem to be many not the ordinary citizen that went beyond normal action, climbing building, breaking down doors, breaking windows etc. Staged Discontents to cause trouble, i wonder? Politics today has become Extreme Drama and Hateful toward the other party. As a retired business man and veteran i am tired of all the Grandstanding and obvious a one sided Main Media antics. Grow up Politics and get down to leading the country. 🇺🇸

Gas prices alone are the best persuasion for the Republicans. Inflados next. Republicans need to hammer the fact that democrat policies are to blame. No ad hominem attacks will make Republicans look good. Policy might,

ERICK - We all had to hear LIES from the Democrats AND MEDIA about Trump and Russia and then find out Hillary was behind it. Maybe TRUMP SUPPORTEERS THOUGHT PAY BACK TIME. Also, left wing groups protest and riot every day.

Would Liz Cheney be where she is if her name wasn’t Cheney?

There were reports of vote counters being sent home late at night and the next morning new ballots were found. People stuffing ballot boxes in the middle of the night and then taking a photo of the collection box.

There were Republicans who wanted these allegations investigated before the election was certified. The Democrats didn’t want a commission. Add the fact that they want to loosen all the voter integrity laws, so why should I believe that Barney Fife actually won the election?

Don't plan on watching any of it. Sounds like a big yawn fest. Dems will edit everything to fit their narrative. Will they mention why Pelosi didn't accept Trump's national guard offer? Nope. Plus I'm too busy seeing my gas cost double and my grocery bill increasing by 30%. Bring on the mid-terms. #RedWave

I want the truth not just some democrat's version of it. 1400 hours of tape, let's see it all. I want Pelosi's emails and text messages leading up to Jan.6. I also want the truth about the FBI's involvement. Right now I don't trust anyone in Washington. And you can all say what you want about Trump and there were a lot of things that I did not like about him, but I sure wish he was president now.

I can’t trust a thing this committee comes up with as it was not fairly constituted and undeniably brazenly partisan. Had the Republicans been allowed to seat their desired representatives on the committee, their findings would then have mattered. As it stands it is a show trial with a predetermined result - all prosecution, no defense…very third world.

Your perspective on Liz Cheney is exactly right. Meadows made a huge mistake not allowing the House Rs to participate, and Pelosi erred in kicking out the Trumpsters. Cheney should be leading the Committee, but she should also work harder not to come off as a party arsonist.

You better move to WY so Cheney will get one vote at least. She is NOT liked in her home state.
