Basically, cannot and will not vote for Perdue. If Perdue were to actually win the nomination, which I doubt, because Kemp has a solid record to run on, I would do as I did with the Presidential election in 2020....sit this one out. It's a very legitimate choice, but if the state GOP wants to win back my vote, it starts with telling that overweight, hair dyed, bloviating narcissist in Palm Beach to bug off (or at least to not meddle in such a manner that he hands the state to the real racists and bigots, who are the ones running the Democrat Party).

Observations from 500 miles away:

1. Brian Kemp has been an effective Geworgia Governor.

2. Brian Kemp has hurt himself by not responding to his many critics in the same manner as others in his position (Ron DeSantis comes to mind). He has been, IMO, far too passive; while ignoring Stacy "I'm running for reelection" Abrams seemed to him a good strategy, it has allowed Abrams to quietly get Georgia's Never Trumper contingent to sign on to what is in essence Georgia Republicans' suicide pact.

3. I doubt I would have wanted David Perdue as my management consultant back in the day, as his passivity is even worse than Kemp's. How he ever lost to Jon Ossoff is beyond me.

4. Heaven help Georgians if Abrams becomes Georgia governor. The only question I have is, if she did so, who would she resemble most in office; Phil Murphy, J. D. Pritzker, or Gavin Newsome?

5. Why in God's name are we even having this conversation? Georgis should be a reliably Republican state, especially after the hatchet job the Harris-Biden crowd's doing to the Democrat brand nationwide.

Once upon a time, Georgia WAS reliably red. But attractive weather, housing, jobs, and cost of living brought many New Englanders to Atlanta, and with them came their politics. It sucks, because they're apparently too stupid to realize these benefits exist BECAUSE OF our conservative political climate. "Hey, can we swim in your pool?? We've peed way too many times in our own and now the water's filthy."

ARRRRGH. You; "So, you came Here because There was so screwed up. Now that you're Here, you claim to miss some of the ways things were There, and think that Here should be more like There. But, you don't understand that we like things Here just the way they are, and if we wanted things Here to be like they are There, we'd move There. So, If you really think that things Here should be like they were There, perhaps you should move back There, abd quit your bellyaching, and accept that the way things are Here is what drew you Here in the first place." :-) In the last 12 years or so, a succession of Republican governors (Mitch Daniels, Mike pence, and now Eric Holcomb) have given here in Indiana a business friendly, relatively low tax environment which has drawn firms Here. And what I just wrote is exactly what I tell those who have moved Here from whatever There they have come with their employers. I suggest you ty it on new Georgians. And for God's sake, if it should pass that you're left with the choice between reelecting Brian Kemp and electing Stacy Abrams. PLEASE realizr that the choice is really, REALLY easy.

This is a terrible move for the Republican party in GA. They need to unite behind one candidate (Kemp) and avoid any party infighting. We all saw what happened in 2020 with Ossoff and Warnock and R voters staying home in the runoffs. And I agree with Erick that if Perdue couldn't beat pajama boy then he's not going to beat the Abrams machine. This is a selfish move by Perdue, who I liked before now. The best thing for the party would be to cut ties with Trump. I voted for him twice but he is an albatross now. He will be nothing but a boat anchor. I'm 61 and on the verge of retirement. An Abrams victory may very well accelerate my plans to retire in Florida.

Ego is a terrible thing. David Perdue could have backed our Governor!.

His "announcement" is sickening.

Gov. Kemp has led this state to an economic marvel and he deserves a second term. How do I get in touch with the Perdue camp? I would like to politely but in no uncertain terms, let him know what I think.

Kemp's record merits a second term. That's enough for me.

Will someone please stop the nonsense game playing and fight for the greater good! And that is keeping Abrams out of office !!! Trump screwed America once with GA as the catalyst (and I was a supporter), now he wants to facilitate screwing Georgia with Purdue as his pawn.

I used to be a big Trump supporter. He was the best President under the most difficult circumstances possible. However, I'm sick of him and his petulant, immature ego! He's responsible for us losing the Senate and now is ensuring that we will lose the governorship and the Senate again. He needs to understand that some things are bigger and more important than him.

If Abrams wins it's so much more than "unfortunate". For Georgia it will be a nightmare.

I voted for and sent money to Trump - twice. Reading stuff like this makes me hate the guy. He doesn't care if he hands the country to Dems as long as he can nurse his grudge in a way that makes him look like the total jerk he is

Abrams didn't move any pieces, the trump humpers moved them for her. Like I said in another post, Why can't trump enjoy his billions and keep his damn piehole shut before he hands more elections to the libs, because that's what he's about to do.

If perdue gets the nomination I'm voting for Shane Hazel.

Well, just got my first "request for money" from Perdue campaign. Had to hit the junk mail button and unsubscribe from emails.

As much as I hate it, you’re right on this one. Wonder what is the end game for Perdue -it surely can’t be winning.

I had the same impression when I read D.P.’s announcement yesterday. He was soundly trashed by J.O. In the congressional race. Moreover, we don’t need to split up the republican vote and allow Stacy Abrams to win. All of you stay-home Voters from 2020 need to get your butt off the couch and VOTE.

If we wind up with (shudder) Gov. Stacey Abrams, the lion's share of the responsibility will lie with Donald Trump.

GA GOP dividing itself at a key moment...once...again.

Am I wrong, or have you said having competition in the primary is actually good and gets said person ready for the main event?

Either way, I don't have high hopes on how this turns out.

Erick, I think you missed one point- Perdue would be in the Senate today if it hasn’t been for the actions and statements of the man who is now pretending to be the great wizard of Mara Largo! Donald Trump.
