This is more dangerous than performance art. I'm not a lawyer but it appears a significant problem in Electoral Law has been revealed and needs to be fixed. Maybe next time the aggrieved party will make sure to have an alternate slate of electors prior to the Safe Harbor deadline, control of the House and Senate and WHALA, a coup accomplished.

What I'm about to write next may be more stupid than the previous paragraph. The Republican Party is expletive deleted. Let the wacko's who have bought into the cult of personality become the Republican Party moving forward. The remaining Republicans should resign from the Republican Party and create a new party. For symmetry it could be called the Whig party. I'd probably abandon the Libertarian Party for such a party.

I said it was stupid.

Personally I like Josh Hawley. Let him ruffle all the feathers he wants. At least he is not one of the go along , get along Republicans like the other 95%. No guts no glory.

I’m so over it. I suggest great sex, good Omaha steaks, go to church or Mass and just love. Just love.

Well gollee Erick, I had no idea that Dems had such a recent history of EC challenges. Your Political Junkie role certainly has some historically educative value.

So this whole EC challenge appears to be a No Big Deal, but just a way to blow off steam.

Although methinks Sen. Hawley is availing himself a ripe opportunity for virtue-signaling to the 2024 tRumpian party.

But by 2024, there's just no telling what kind of shape the GOP elephant will be in.

Had anyone actually looked into and corrected the things that were exceptionally out of the ordinary in a handful of states, had officials admitted that some of the things they allowed supposedly because of "covid", had wreaked havoc on the process, had a few states not suddenly, and at the same time not stopped counting ballots, maybe I would agree with Erick that republicans had no reason to challenge the process. But none of those things occurred. Right from the get go we were told everything was fine, nothing was out of the ordinary, there "couldn't" be enough fraud or error to change the outcome of the election. And that was said even before there was really an "outcome". So pardon me, and a multitude of others who are just not satisfied with the answer we keep getting. I was pretty close to a "never Trumper". I almost left a blank rather than vote for him the first time. I am still not a fan of his over the top behavior. But he accomplished far more than I imagined. And he WAS exposing a great deal of corruption in our government. I also believe he wasn't getting the support he needed from a large part of the GOP, because they would have been caught up in exposure of their own "sins". So, like a lot of people, knowing what the democrats did for the last four years, I find that I don't really mind if Trump "burns it down" if he is going out. This is what fed up, disgusted with both sides, never fighting back, and never winning will do to people.

What concerns me - and both sides do it - is those multitudes who only watch and listen to those things that they like rather than investigating both sides of an issue. It makes one susceptible to propaganda. Ideally, a host of a show should have someone representing both sides of an issue in order to crate balance. If one guest presents a false or incomplete picture, the other side is there to counter or complete it. Not so if the host and the guest share a one-sided view. Two of the three cable channels have both Republicans and Democrats on; one channel has only current and former elected officials who share the channel's philosophy.

Whataboutism is the downfall of both parties. Republicans are better than this.

I’m 79 and weary of being a pawn on the chessboard of self-obsessed, power-hungry, unfeeling politicians and billionaires who have no regard for the humble American. And, I am in fear....for the future generations of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Watch “On Pointe” on Disney, made in New York and not a town in communist China where there are concentration camps. See the story of a 12-year girl, from an immigrant family, who works her way through SAB (School of American Ballet), to star as Marie in the 2019 New York City Ballet production of The Nutcracker. She doesn’t feel like a victim. She feels like she can do anything she wants.

So, no matter how tired and bowed we might become, don’t let anyone ever tell you that The United States of America is not the GREATEST country in the world.

God bless America and all of you.

I'm bothered by two things: 1) Like Erick said, I'm unhappy when "my side" engages in the same embarrassing behavior the other side employs - it just totally destroys credibility and "high ground," and 2) I think it is very harmful to placate people in their deception rather than tell them the truth.

I've seen people I've known for decades embrace some of the craziest theories and proffer some really frightening rhetoric.

Erick, cynicism is one of your charms.

In the big picture, historically, it seems like when things don't go as the right wants, the right shrugs its shoulders and says, "time the make the most of this situation". It seems, same situation, the left says, "we'll fight this outcome to the death". Then, when the right "fights back", well, the right is just being unreasonable. We'll never get anywhere if we live in the we'll-show-you world we currently live in...still if we don't push back some, we seem to get rolled.

I don’t care if Hawley tries his little stunt. I did get upset when Democratic rhetoric led to attempted murder of many and the injury of Steve Scalice. I don’t care if the president ever concedes, just as I don’t care if Stacey Abrams ever does. I do care if OMB and DoD aren’t fully cooperating with the transition.
