As more polls come out claiming Trump and DeSantis are tied among GOP primary voters, media outlets are asking why DeSantis won’t respond to Trump’s attacks. Additionally, Politico and other outlets point out that 28% of GOP primary voters are still backing Trump, implying a third-party nomination could doom the GOP. The latter concern is misguided because most states have a variation of a sore loser law, preventing those who lost primaries from appearing on the general election ballot as an independent candidate. Furthermore, DeSantis is simply using the Brian Kemp strategy of the past few years. While Kemp was ruthlessly savaged by the Trump team, Kemp focused on the issues, refused to acquiesce to ad-hominem attacks, and won reelection by 10 points in a purple state. Every problem within minority communities-single mother homes, poverty, drug addiction-blamed on white people. “All white people are racist”, “the unbearable whiteness of coffee, hiking etc”-an actual YouTube search. I know what I’ve seen and read. The list goes on and on and on. Blacks can say whatever they want about white people but God forbid Scott Adams acknowledge this poll and tell white Americans they should stick to their own communities.
If we are to believe this poll, then yes, I can’t blame Adams, and I know personally I feel completely exasperated by Everything being white people’s faults. If there is a group-again, assuming this polling is correct and when you combine that with the numerous examples of white people blamed/white people bad, then yes, I have no desire to coexist within a community of black people.
At my age, I think that DeSantis has a lot of qualities that President Eisenhower had and they way they think. I feel DeSantis has an excellent shot at making it. I voted Trump for him both times, but not this time. DeSantis wants us to be Americans again.
I hope that Eric is right, but what happened in Georgia may not be true across the country. I would vote for Trump if he is the Republican candidate, but I don't think he can win. He is damaged goods and the Left/Washington DC crowd were surprised in 2016. They won't be in 2024.
I actually heard this today on your show and now reading it I must say, this is an excellent analysis! Gov. DeSantis is a very solid person and I hope he runs, and I hope he wins! It would be a great thing is President Trump would back Ron and not attack him. Trump is old and too much baggage with media and Dems and as you pointed out...only one term possible. I really like Ron DeSantis. His politics are sensical and reasonable. I also noted in a recent Tucker Carlson interview... he looked like he had lost some weight. That is a good sign that he is going to run.
In my dreams he and Trump get together and Trump throws his support and weight in to support DeSantis.
