My feeling is more that i do love my country because i can worship Jesus here i can tell people about Him. We are so blessed! So truly blessed.

I don’t think anything can be changed or hearts won through politics. People are acting like the world is going to end because Biden is President but no evidence the man wants to wound up Christians. So many Christians around the world would have loved to live life under an Obama administration. Our Constitution it gives us rights.

So when i see folks not caring about the Constitution and wanting to throw things away over one of election....

Thank you for helping me to step back and see where and who my idols are. It is definitely time for me to refocus on the message of Christ and not on those who use his message to further their agenda.

Our priest in church yesterday spoke of Jesus's baptism and how He is the light that comes into the darkness. The world is in darkness and only Jesus is the truth, way, light to bring us out of the darkness and give us eternal life! But we all must repent and follow Him! Change ourselves and share Him to all! Great post! God is with us! Are we with Him?

Very good article Erick. I would just add that in my church, and in my "tribe" (or what used to be my "tribe") the false idol is not so much the nation as it is in the person of one deeply flawed and character deficient President of the nation. Even after last Wednesday, the Trump flags continue to fly on my street. Shameful.

This is jenandlaw's husband. Can someone tell me what she might have read here? I heard a great cry of grief and came back to the office, and she's passed out on the floor next to me.

I too am glad I kept reading as I was beginning to wonder what happened to Erick? Thanks for putting this plainly and clearly. Amen!!

Man, you got me. I was getting so frustrated with you, ready to really let you have it about how misguided you are about what Christians should "be about." Phew. Glad I kept reading! So happy to hear someone say this. We ought never to forget that the gospel spread in a world without mass transport, social media, postal service, or even freedom. I don't need FB, Twits, Parler, or quite frankly, even my freedom, to bring God to a lost soul.

Our Resurrected Eternal Saviour has no dependence on any earthly power for the furtherance of his saving grace into the hearts of men and women. He demonstrated that in his earthly walk. No social media censorship regs, no .gov policies nor leftist cadre nor alt-right mumbo-jumbo can prevent His eternally healing gospel of salvation from going forth into the hearts and minds and souls of any man or women who is willing to call upon his Name for grace and mercy. No Fed powers nor Empire prohibitions can prevent the speaking of His Word in Truth and Power.

Eric, this post actually made me pull the trigger and become a paying subscriber (I’m sure that’s exactly why you wrote it!). I have become so desensitize to this “Patriot Gospel” that I was indeed nodding along, assuming this was just the obligatory preface that every good American Christian has to make before getting to whatever point you really wanted to make (funnily enough, my wife immediately clued in on what was happening and was far more discerning than I was on my first read through). It’s shocking how permeated we have become with this nostalgic Americana Christianity, even when we are intellectually aware of the irrationality of Trumpism and its intersection with American evangelicalism. We have been infected with a kind of syncretism that is just as damaging to our faith and witness as that of any tribal pantheist. May God help us.

Well said.

$00000000000000 The zeros are controlling us.

Big tech and big government are trying to take away our right to decide what we hear and what we watch and what we say and how we worship. By continuing to use social media platforms, we are tacitly supporting their power over free speech. We are rapidly heading into the abyss that is Socialism. And, I cannot say how much that terrifies me.

If we stay off social media or cancel accounts for a couple of months, that will hit where it hurts. In their wallets. Are we so dependent upon or addicted to these platforms that we cannot endure the loss and discomfort long enough to try and make a difference? Everyone on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. has another device with which to communicate. If we don’t take a stand, all devices will soon be controlled by the ones with the most zeros. Maybe we need a new form of rehabilitation or 12- step program… SMAA… Social Media Addicts Anonymous! What’s next; what we eat, with whom we associate, what to think?

The powerful heads of the sites is competing for title of the wealthiest person in the world. Bezos, with $185,000,000,000, isn’t even the richest…that’s a lot of zeros. For whatever reason would one want to contribute to any such individual wielding such power?

Look at the devastation George Soros has caused, at the local education level, with all of his zeros… A paltry $8,000,000,000 billion. Multiply that by 23 and you’re in the company of Musk and Bezos. Musk won the title by $10 000,000,000. Soros is worth less than the difference between those two, and look what he’s done. Not trying to beat a dead horse but paint a picture of the almost incomprehensible amount of money in the hands of a few Individuals in this country. Please, don’t misunderstand me. I’m against wealth redistribution but for responsibility.

Sometimes, like myself, I think people feel, “What can one individual do?” The power of one can be formidable. Jesus Christ. The power of 12; the disciples. Are we not all apostles? One small pebble can start a landslide. We get nowhere if you don’t begin. Volunteer, take a stand on something. Delete your Twitter account.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi.

PS. Erick, I am bit embarrassed. I gave you some bad info regarding the bucatini I ordered. It’s bucatini con arco....pasta with a hook. The description states it really good at holding the sauce. Should have brushed up on my Italian. Ciao!!
