Vote for the Democrats and you won't have to pay your bills! Which is a really good thing, because with the tax increases and audits we have planned, you aren't going to be able to afford groceries, let alone your student debt!

Reminds me of that poor lady who thought when Obama was elected, she wasn't going to have to pay for gas or her mortgage anymore, he was going to take care of all that...

The colleges and universities have the money, the Federal government is holding the debt. Just like with the lottery, this only incentivise colleges and universities to raise tuition.

How about we means test the universitys' endowment fund? If it's more than $200 million you don't get any loan forgiveness.

The average college endowment value increased by 35 percent, to $1.1 billion, and the median endowment size swelled to $200 million. ~Google

"additional forgiveness for specific subsets of the population", yea as a lay person I would think this caveat crosses the equal protection line.

My wife and I paid for our daughter's college, because we didn't want her to be in debt out of the gate. I want my $10k tax credit.

I can give you countless numbers of people who either worked their way through school or did not go to school who are going to be beyond upset - if those idiots choose to go down this path. Erik, you talked more than once the the Republican Party is picking up traditional democrats as it is. This could be the tipping point.

I’m one of those seeing RED at the plan to pay off student debt. I graduated from nursing school with a hefty student loan balance. My family had several lean years as I worked to pay off that debt on time (without any extensions/deferrals). The fact that I’ll now be on the hook for others is frank BS!! Ok, I have to stop thinking/talking about this because I can feel my blood pressure rising!

I had about $30,000 in student loans when I graduated college in 2010. Using the governments payoff plan I’d still be paying them off to this day, but I worked like crazy for a few years and payed them off. This blanket student loan forgiveness is inherently unfair.

The usual tossing of the free red meat to the selected masses. I saw that coming whenBig Brother took over the student loans.

What specialities do black people pursue to accumulate a $52K debt? I will bet lunch that it for something that will pay off well in a few years.

Three years ago I had a plumber over and he said that he had over $ 75K of tools and parts in his generic commercial van. Like the farmer, he needs the equipment to make an income.
