Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I live in NJ. On primary day, I get to vote for someone else’s choice. That has to change to a national primary day. We also need a run off election so that the winner has a mandate of over 50%.

I don't really follow polls but I do believe that DT will win the Repub nomination. I don't believe any of the Repub candidates can beat DT and DT can beat the Dem candidate which will not be Joe Biden in 2024. That dog will not (won't) hunt.

Recent NYT Poll says, DT leads JB in nearly every battle ground state. JB will be out of office by 12-31-2023 or as soon as they can replace KH and then remove JB>

The man said; "If I were a Democrat and saw the President’s polling and saw him statistically tied in a race against a man most Americans loathe and who Democrats believe is an existential threat to democracy itself, I might want to consider pushing the man aside (not down stairs) and letting him retire gracefully a one term President." All you DT haters (RINOs and all) are the reason JB is in office and turning America dystopian.

To the chagrin and chapping of all the DT haters, he will be next POTUS. But USA is beyond the point of no return without fully purging the DOJ and FBI. Probably can only happen wit Un-Civil WII.

There is no rule of law at this time. They prosecute whom they choose and ignore as they choose.

Thank you Erick for reminding people to take stock of all the things in their life and be thankful. Its far too easy to get wrapped up in the noise all around us and forget what is most important.

All that being said, it still dumbfounds me how people vote against their own self interest. Rush used to talk about people who would gladly vote to lose something themselves, just so the people whom they see as aggrieving them are impacted. That seems to be the driver on both sides. The desire for vengeance, retribution, and revenge.

Even the prospect of of revenge will drive them to do incredibly stupid things. Theater is far more important than results. This is so sad on our side. It used to be a huge differentiator where conservative folks were concerned. But now? What has this theater given us? Trillions in spending due to Republicans in Georgia not voting. Then doubling down on stupidity with each and every election thereafter. Republican voters seems to really prefer the reality show member over competency. Then believe the Republican charlatan candidate equivalent of Snooki looses and claims they were cheated and the election was stolen.

I feel like we are stuck in Ground Hog Day. Both Trump and Biden need to be kicked to the curb to allow us to move the heck on. While I liked many things that happened during the Trump Administration, I do not see any way anyone can deny that he is more polarizing than Hillary Clinton. Voting for Trump is like buying a lottery ticket. The thoughts of the what would happen if successful is what you are paying/voting for, only then to awaken to reality of yet another performance art candidate losing to the democratic equivalent of a house plant.

Erick - you wrote “Both parties should be rethinking their front runners.” Please elaborate on how! The primary system of both parties prevents any type of “rethinking “. The Democrats have super delegates who could make a difference but the Republicans do not. It is up to the few Republican primary voters who (it looks like) the majority will vote for Trump. The only out I can see for the Republican Party (as a party) is invoke the 14th amendment and strike Trump off the primary ballots. I do not see that happening nor would it probably be successful.

Well, can you imagine if Biden got the 24/7 made-up, nonsensical, and hysterical press coverage that Trump received since 2016 would Biden still be in the 30%? I love the press calling Trump a racist when they have a Democrat who has walked that walk.

Are we really now just this stupid to be putting up these two candidates? OK, in a way they both have encumbancy, but We may be worse. The Right has excellent choices away from Trump who actually poll better than Trump. One would think the aim is to choose the best candidate.

OK, I also get that a lot of American's were much better off when Trump policy expressed it's self in our daily lives, but a LOT has happened since than which has clearly tarnished his brand.

The Dems? They have no one. Harris or Newsome? Please. Harris has no chances (besides having Joe die while in office) Newsome has a track record unparralled is failure and far, far Left advocasy which near ZERO folks in the middle will buy.

The Left would pivot in the same manner they did in 2020 to "moderate Joe", but they have nothing but empty space ..

The Right? I'm surpirsed there is any space left on our feet in which to again shoot.

Erick, your never Trump view is becoming an increasingly smaller segment of the Republican Party and America in general. Populism is sweeping the globe and the concept of making America great sounds good right about now because other than our ideals nothing seems to great about the U.S. right now. All that being said, I do believe we will rebound and I do wish you and yours happy, blessed Thanksgiving!

But, we have better choices, Joe. That's what gets me.

Expand full comment

Really? Haley wants to force comments on the internet to be registered and identified, she never met a war she didn’t want to sent my kids too, and if DeSantis is such a great choice, why can’t he convince anyone?

No one strong enough to take the battering that Trump is getting. I’m convinced that the election was rigged against him. If you aren’t the watch the video at https://frankspeech.com/Video/unmasked-election-fraud?trk_msg=85IBSKTCJ6S4PBT2VM9AII1BP4&trk_contact=J07MEHOCQDHP784IHTOA43J5CK&trk_sid=LILNMCL7SF2NMV5RCRLBBVTS9S&trk_link=Q32FS5K495K4L4Q49UM2RUV5CS Georgia was one of the worst offenders!

Expand full comment

Thanks for your reply, Barbara. Trump is actually not handling the battering well. He insults anyone who dissagrees with him, even people on his side. This is why he has very high negative ratings. Independants don't like his pettiness and nastiness. The video is not factual and has been debunked by Erick Erickson himself. Why and how did Brian Kemp win over Leftie darling Stacy Abrams if GA elections were rigged?

Expand full comment

Could you take the battering that Trump is enduring with the grace that you expect from him. I surely couldn’t!

I’ve been following election fraud claims since the election and I think it’s too easy to say there was none. Did you really watch the entire video and still don’t believe any of the claims made are for real?

I’m not sure about the answer to your second question. One election does not preclude cheating in the next. Kemp is OK overlooking all the fraud so he was probably considered safe.

To set this country on the right track and a sound economic and geopolitical track, I am not sure we do.

Fair enough. But surely DeSantis or Hailey would be a turn in the correct direction and not a lesser of two evils as DJT vs JRB are. Hailey? I want to like her, but I think she would ignore the beast which DC is and debt would not be a priority. DeSantis seems to follow through with what he says he is going to do. IMHO

We must accept the fact that Donald Trump is going to be our nominee. The Dems would crush DeSantis or Hailey. They will dedicate all to win at (any) cost. Trump is the only candidate to stand up to this corrupt party and expose their intent to destroy our democracy. Isn't that what they claim Trump is trying to do,iie destroy our democrracy.

How is Trump trying to destroy our country when he has demonstrated he put our country in the best position in many years.

What policies did he institute that hurt our country?

Why do never Trumpers keep saying the same things about him as the dems, news media and social media. Is he that vile. You may not like some of his antics, but he is the only chance we have to put us back where we were.

We need to get on the band wagon and get him elected and then we can have 8 years thereafter with either DeSantis and/or Hailey.

We cannot let the Dems get away with how they are doing. This is a war. We must not let them win.

Expand full comment

Oh Richard. I respect your thought process, but do not see how the Dems "would crush DeSantis or Hailey" While no single poll is indicative, the totality of polls are. DJT has a huge negatives. Less than Biden right now, but clearly there are a lot of independants which do not want him.

Expand full comment

It has nothing to do with polls. It has to do with a ruthless democratic party that will do anything to win. They have the media to propogate the lies and will repeat over and over until most will believe. That is what has happened with Trump. Its to early in their careers to withstand the onslought that will come. They really like them now hoping to get Trump out of the race.

I just hope people like Mark Eason and other never Trumpers will come to their senses and either help defeat the Dems or shut up and let the rest of the GOP get it done.

We have several good alternatives - Desantis is still my preference.

Nice post. I’m all in for Trump and despite what you infer, I know that I am extremely blessed to have been born in this country. Hint; you would be much more effective if you at least tried not to smear those who disagree with you. Happy Thanksgiving.

Expand full comment

The problem is, as I've discovered, no criticism, no matter how sleight, is acceptable. No matter what I say, unless it is absolute fealty to Trump, is ever anything other than a smear. So I've given up trying to be diplomatic. Everything is always an insult or a smear unless it is praise and adoration. So you get the comments section to complain as the compromise.

It’s not what you say about Trump that bothers me. It is what you say about his supporters.

“The core of the base of both parties, loudly and proudly standing by their octogenarian, are defensive, angry, and unwilling to give way to reason convinced only their guy can win.”

This is an insult (smear) directed at me. Erik. You don’t see that?

Expand full comment

Nah, that’s not true. I’ll vote for Trump, but I’ll acknowledge that it’s like buying a junkyard dog. He’ll do the job, but he’ll pee in the living room and tear up the furniture. Worth the price….

Kathryn. I ask in all humility. How do you stay with Trump when all polls have clearly indicated DeSantic and now Hailey much more handily beat iden? Trump's negative numbers are quite large. Those are the independants. Right or wrong, he has been indicted and the potential for bad news further affecting those in the middle is extremely likely. (most of the indictments will land in court just before the election)

I'll stop there. I gave Trump my hard earned money and voted for him twice. Would love to hear what you are thinking. Thanks either way. Respect. Peace. out.

Hailey I wouldn’t consider but I like DeSantis were something (😕) to happen to Trump but even then I would have misgivings. I think we need a fighter who understands the Left and who they are controlled by. Trump has proven he can withstand the onslaught. They haven’t begun to attack either of the two you mentioned and I fear DeSantis would whither especially with a young family. If you let the Left bully their way into choosing our candidate expect more of the same. I could go on but basically this is where I start. I think the mistakes he made with Covid and the GF riots has strengthened his resolve and only someone who has been duped as he was can truly understand the viciousness that of the Left. Thank you for your inquiry.

Thanks Kathy! I think Erick pointed out DeSantis is seeing more attacks than any in the field and a lot from Trump. He has been attacked in a number of Florida elections including two huge elections for Governor which was meaningful considering the importance of Florida. More elections than DJT, FWIW.

My Best...

You haven't seen anything until he would be the nominee of the GOP.

People keep talking about polls and politics, but that is not what we are

up against. They will do anything and I mean anything to win. Beware

Given a choice between Joe Biden an Donald Trump I chose neither and will sit this election out. The extremist in both parties have moved me to be independent. The politicians in both parties continually re enforce my beliefs of being independent. I would rather watch a Gilligan's Island rerun then listen to a interview with these self centered buffoons.

Gary U I agree wholeheartedly! I too am DONE choosing the lesser of 2 evils! As a woman of color one party thinks my vote should be automatic & the othe does nothing to court me for my vote.

I see absolutely no difference between JB & DJT or Democrats & Republicans in general. If these 2 are the nominies I'll schedule a root canal before I vote for either of them!

Yes it is, but that was for the senate seat in which there was a good Republican candidate for one seat and a bad candidate for the other. This election, top of the ticket is two bad candidates with Georgia now a purple state and no one is excited.
