A good man--and a statesman. He devoted his life to his Country, and lived with the scars that confirmed his devotion. Our Nation is struggling with the passing of the Greatest Generation.

I second your sentiment. Hopefully our President will have flags flown at half mast.

He was one of the good guys. I met him briefly at the Washington State GOP convention in 1978. Part of the Greatest Generation, he was seriously wounded in Italy in WWII. No, I don't think we make them like that anymore.

A true hero. A giant. I didn't always agree with him, but boy did I respect him. America doesn't make men like that anymore. Or at least doesn't make many. Loved his country. And he had a great sense of humor. He and Norm McDonald on screen together is a classic. Find it on YouTube. He and Elizabeth Dole a true team. Condolences to her.
