In voicing her objection to Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts tweeted, “In 2023, over 29,000 active-duty troops were sexually assaulted, including more than 6 in every 100 women in the military. Many servicemembers never report these crimes. The rates of assault are estimated to be up to 4x higher. Pete Hegseth must not be the Defense Secretary.”
Should that be a scandal?
I’m not sure what the media rules are here on sexual assault. I am sure that if it were a Republican in charge, it would be a scandal.
But generally, even with Democrats, assaulting women tends to be a scandal.
Is it because Lloyd Austin is black or because he actually is absent all the time and so he can’t be responsible or is this still covering for Joe Biden?
Seems like Elizabeth Warren should be really outraged that 29,000 active-duty troops were sexually assaulted under the care of Lloyd Austin and Joe Biden.
But I cannot find that she’s made a big deal about this issue until now.
Wild stuff.
On Syria
It should probably also be a scandal that the whole world is paying attention to Donald Trump and not Joe Biden. Biden may be nominally the Commander-in-Chief, but it does not matter. Trump is leading already, which is notable.
I cannot remember the last time an incumbent President of the United States was as ignored on the world stage as Biden is now, even lame ducks at the end of their tenure in office.
Notably, ignorning Biden comes as Syria has fallen. I’ll start my show today with a lot on Syria. It is a very, very important story you need to know about.
The inauguration was moved forward to January 20 during FDR’s terms I believe from the original horse and carriage days date. It’s probably time to shorten the transition again. What about the 2nd of January like Congress?
This site consistently gives me information I was not aware of. In this case, I had no idea that Hegseth was the Sec of Defense LAST YEAR when Sen. Hiawatha was complaining about this. Who else knew?
