Welcome! I’m actually doing all this myself today as Philip decided he had something more important to do like family vacation.
I’m short-circuiting this today as I am getting it out late, and we had massive technical issues this morning. My apologies. I’ll do better tomorow.
The Right and the WSJ: Conservative insiders at the Wall Street Journal are sounding the alarm about changes at the WSJ. It sounds like the new editor is moving the news shop into the cultural left and also lowering editorial standards. (National Review)
Success: Israel rescued four hostages. A Gazan doctor held one. A reporter for a non-profit news service held another. Hamas kept the hostages with civilians in civilian areas and the left is furious civilians died.
These are my show notes for the show. They’re abridged today because I’ve got a bunch happening and just want to give you the outlines for where I am headed. I’ll open this to everyone today.
The Left Goes Hamas
Kamala Harris is lamenting the two hundred plus dead “civilians” in Gaza, part of the fall out of Israel rescuing its hostages. What is left unsaid is that Hamas/Gaza do not distinguish civilian and military dead. Many of those who died were agents of Hamas.
Israel’s hostages were held by a doctor and a reporter. Both hostage holders are dead, as are the family members who were home when Israel showed up. The left is not just upset, but rioting. The White House claims this is just free speech.
The left is drawing close to Hamas. “If Hamas committed a bloody massacre of Israelis…”. IF.
Shake Up in Europe
The right has won big in Europe, forcing early elections in France. Voters are really angry with the elite on a host of issues from immigration to the economy. Sound familiar?
The German left got wiped out. What’s notable is that in places that were formerly communist, the AfD is the big winner. If you don’t like the Christian right, get ready for the post-Christian right.
They’re Turning on Biden Now
The oppo drops from the mainstream media against Biden are growing.
The New York Times is now diving into Joe’s lies. Politico is looking at the family business deals.
They’re doing this now as a last ditch effort to push Biden out and, should that not work, claim all this is old news when it gets to the general election. The Democrats increasingly would prefer it if Biden goes away, but Biden has too much of a chip on his shoulder to leave without a hard push.
Polling Galore
Regardless of your views on polling, it has been remarkably consistent. Biden is getting no real bounce out of Trump’s indictment. That has sent panic through the Democrats.
In the swing states, Trump still leads in the polling averages. He has done a series of rallies that Biden could not and would not do. Trump is ahead in Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia significantly. He’s roughly tied in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. If he wins the sun states and just one of the mid-west states, he wins. He has more paths than Biden.
An incumbent president has all sorts of advantages, but Biden is crippled by inflation and his age, neither of which he can do anything about.
A Must Read
The American plan to deal with China’s invasion of Taiwan.
The WSJ has been moving left for the last several years. I am a 40-year subscriber and any further movement to the left and I am done.
I know why the paper is moving left. Wall Street need the post Bretton Woods global order to continue. Wall Street is no longer satisfied with domestic corporate returns. It demands the returns of a global economy... and to secure its place in that global economy it offers insider trading benefits to the American political class for their support at giving away US domestic assets like industry, IP and working class jobs. The new Republican party is done with the Global Order and against globalism.
Basically the WSJ is serving its own Wall Street interest by becoming another Democrat propaganda source.
My goodness. The if in there is crazy. Don’t want to get shot on a hostage rescue? Don’t hold hostages! Seems self evident.
