All Trump has to say is…nothing! Just allow liberals to hang themselves with their own words. There was NO need to make that statement on FL abortion proposal.

Trump and the Republican Party are completely missing the whole point of the SCOTUS ruling, re: Dobbs (abortion). All SCOTUS said was that the Federal Government has no business getting involved in the issue of abortion. It is up to the states, individually, and the people in those states. This means that what a president--or a presidential candidate--thinks about the abortion issue is completely irrelevant.

"Many pro-life activists will conclude there is no reason for them to side with Trump when they could wait out two years of Kamala Harris with a GOP Senate, see a bigger wave of Republican reinforcements in 2026, and then take back the White House in 2028."

An attitude like that could very well result in Evangelicals waking up on Wednesday, Nov 6th with Kamala as president-elect, Chuck Schumer with an increased majority in the Senate, and a majority-Dem House. Then, you can kiss the Senate good bye forever after the Dems make DC & PR states.

There's no guarantee that the Redumblicans can take the Senate, or increase their margins in the House. There's no shortage of examples of Redumblicans blowing elections. Remember the predicted 'Red Wave' of 2022 that never materialized?

Sometimes it seems as though Trump wants to lose.

As a long-time pro-life advocate, who has stood in front of the infanticide mills, given money to pro-life causes, crisis pregnancy centers, and on the board of one of the most targeted centers in DC I am disheartened by President Trump's rhetorical retreat on this issue. And while I understand the political calculations of the state approach, his use of the language of the infanticide crowd (reproductive health care) and going after the Florida law is counterproductive. If he thinks he will win by irritating the pro-life community and reaching out to those who ardent advocates for infanticide I believe he is mistaken.

Erick is sounding the alarm and has given several concrete ideas of what President Trump could do to solidify this crucial segment of his base. (e.g., promising pardon for the pro-lifers that have been jailed). He could also say that he is going to ensure that DOJ will focus on those who have targeted pro-life pregnancy centers. He could even visit a pro-life center like the one here in Washington DC which is about a mile from Capitol Hill and showcase what these centers do to help women that "choose" to keep their babies and put down the lies propagated by the Left (like Senator Warren) that these centers are torture chambers.

As of now, I am sitting out support for this election. I have informed my precinct captain in northern VA that I will not be door knocking, manning phone banks or voting locations or donating money.

I am a Christian first, an American second, a conservative third, a Republican fourth and a Trump supporter fifth.

Kamala's values haven't changed. She still opposes fracking, but in order to get elected, she'll say she doesn't oppose it.

Pro-life, guns, rent, NAMBLA, alphabet gang, the environment... Pick your single issue, you will always be delighted or disappointed by the candidate you support, you will rarely actually get what you want because your single issue does not live in a vacuum.

Dessert is never just a bowl of sugar, it's layers of complexity.

Trump is neither a politician nor principled, he is ego and id driven; and his ego is very fragile.

Trump really can't fix this anymore than Kamala can fix her flip-flops.

I have to wonder how much JD Vance is influencing Trump's "positions". Vance has started his 2028 campaign.

As Erick pointed out yesterday, this isn't about your single issue, it's about who controls the administrative bureaucracy that doesn't give a flip about who controls Congress, it's about foreign policy, it's about a SCOTUS pick. It is layers of complexity and Harris is not salt sprinkled on your caramel, she is a layer of black salt in your tiramisu.

I doubt that Vance is influencing Trump’s positions any more than Sean Hannity, for example, influences Trump’s positions. On the issue of abortion, Vance has been pro-life in the past but says he supports Trump in believing abortion should be decided at the state level.

This definitely is a spiritual thing. I have to remember that God has a plan, and He is working!

I think a lot of Bible believing Christians will still vote Trump, but unforced statements like this are going to dampen their enthusiasm. I will still vote for him (see Erick’s video from yesterday), since I live in Michigan. Tired of least worst alternatives. Glad that politics aren’t ultimate - God is.

Unless the USA has become a "born-again" theocracy, there is no role for God. Certainly the founding fathers - who were all Christians either spiritually or philosophically - made no reference to a role for God in the Constitution they wrote.

Trump is proving to more Republican by the day. Snatching for defeat. On a night where silence or disciplined reply would have been golden, we got a hold my beer moment. Given the context of the Florida amendment, it would have been easy to point out the stark nature of the choice before Floridians. I guess that was a bridge too far. A journalism-er massaged lit a fuse and stood back to marvel at the outcome.

I come from the Paul Harvey era, grew up on Rush. I like the fact that Mr. Erickson tells it like it is. good, bad, or indifferent. Paul and Rush would be proud integrity has not died in radio.

Well, sir, i a pro-life evangelical. The choice is still clear for me, however you choose to frame it. Trump or Harris? Trump every time, with all his warts and pimples.

Just like I said the other day, I'm starting to wonder if Trump really wants to win. Ever since Biden dropped out, he's been shooting himself in the foot one toe at a time.

Well Trump did actually deliver substance. Democrats have to gaslight blacks.

But point taken, ouch.

Erick, I am Pro-life, but take in consideration the nation is 50/50 Pro-Choice/Pro-Life, so there is a large segment of the voting population that is opposed to Federal or State imposed bans on abortion. Instead of bans, we should focus on laws that are common sense; Pro-Parent & Pro-Child. Example; anyone considering an abortion should have an Ultra-sound with a counseling session informing the parent all options available to support them should they choose life, followed by a 24-48 hour period to consider their options. A significant majority of women that see an ultra sound of their child choose life. To turn this nation away from abortion we need to win minds, hearts & souls with information & empathy.
