"...That's what wrong with this country now; not enough people are demanding something be done!..."

Umm, to Erick's point, we're not looking in the mirror to demand we personally do everything we can do to fulfill Love thy Neighbor... That pre-supposes one cares what God says about it, which could be the stretch here. Even a secular humanist understands the greater need is for human contact and intervention. We've gotten lazy as a nation - just throw more money at the gov't and walk away.

The government was not instituted to be the catch-all we have made it. Charities, churches, individuals volunteering, actual human contact with those in need is what is called for. Putting money in the hands of the gov't is not only a bad investment into helping the needy, it is enabling a bloated administration understaffed with actual social workers (the face-to-face aspect of charity) spending almost 2/3's of the money directed toward that help to pay for the infrastructure. The gov't will not get more efficient with "more" being referenced, it will take "more" of our money and waste it.

Just my take on this.

The generosity of your audience is impressive. But actually, not at all surprising. Thanks so much for organizing this important effort. God bless you!

I was one of those that contributed yesterday before the show. It was a no brainer--Salvation Army is one of (if not THE) best non-profits, faith based, hands down. As my pastor Andy Stanley had put it, we as Christians should never be in it to win it--Jesus wasn't. But politics, as you well know, is seductive, because it is a pathway to power. And as the famous quote says, power corrupts--and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great job Erick on partnering with the Salvation Army and encouraging all of us to help our neighbor. BTW, as a conservative, should we not want LESS government involvement, not MORE? As the great Ronaldus Magnumus said in his first inaugural address, Government is not the solution to our problems--Government IS the problem!

Thank you for organizing this fundraising effort for a quick solution to help hurting families. It gives those who choose to give an easy non-bureaucratic, non-judgemental way to give. Unfortunately as has happened on all platforms it brings out the ugliness in many people who are in person probably very nice. Recently the WSJ had a piece about all the damage done in families over the divisiveness around COVID policies and politics. The one point that stuck is that in order to mend these fractured relationships you should accept that others have a different opinion and basically stop thinking that only yours is right. Something has to change. I feel bad for our children and grandchildren growing up in such a hostile environment.

Glenn Beck started a charity years ago called “Mercury One”. He said that if you want the government to do less, then YOU have to do more. When there is a disaster, they are there at the local level as is the SA helping people. Wokeness is a disease no matter where you find it but don’t forget that those who have been given much can help those who have less.

Amen. I was listening to you on my way to work. When I got there I texted my wife to send the Salvation Army some money. We have four checks coming in and we can afford to send something.

I thought people like Pam, ostensibly conservative, are supposed to want the government in DC to do less.

Erick, your fundraising action should be commended. I try to support my neighbor when I really think they need it. I know there are many people who are actually financially and emotionally hurting and this money will at least be a band aid until they can get back on their feet. I have to admit, I do get a bit jaded at times when people cry "I can't afford xyz" but then somehow have the money to pay for a $200+ cable bill and phone bill, $1000 iPhone, frequently eat out, etc. I was giving some tips to a FB group on how I'm saving at least 50 cents / gallon on gas when others were complaining about the cost of gas. All I heard was crickets when I mentioned the fuel additive I use that helps the gas savings and where to find it. Many people just like to complain. I do hope your funds go to actual hurting families.

Just got back from my Friday Men's Group. We talked about what Ministries like Hope for the Hungry and the Salvation Army are the "hands and feet" of Jesus. So grateful to see what all of us can do for the Salvation Army. Thanks again, Erick! I'm encouraged by all who are participating. Let's keep it going!

Erick, again I thank you for stepping up to the task. I know that ALL organizations have negative comments about them from time to time and we had just one of Salvation Army offices in CO. about 30 years ago where the director took money for himself and was caught. It produced bad comments about the Salvation Army. My wife and I got a lot of the baby clothes from them for all the boxes she put together for the babies that were born at the Pregnancy Center where we volunteered for 13 years. But those of us, like you, know all they do and 99% of the people that work there are good people.

God will Bless you richly for all you are doing.
