Y’all, I’m going to save my thinking on all the Trump campaign news for radio today (not to mention the orders to expedite an aircraft carrier group to the Middle East). I hope you’ll consider tuning in. I will tell you exactly how I plan to start my radio show today — with this question:
Trump supporters more than any other group on the right, say the GOP needs to fight like the Democrats. The GOP needs to be as ruthless as the Democrats. They need to want the power as badly as the Democrats that they’ll do whatever it takes to get win, just like the Democrats. With that being the case, when does the GOP do what the Democrats did, and ditch their octogenarian candidate who is fading in the polls?
Now, before you react one way or the other to that, you should tune in today to hear my actual thinking on this. You’ll be able to do so live at 12:06pm ET today right here.
What I want to do here, however, is thank everyone who participated in this year’s Gathering. We had people from every one of my radio markets from Salem, OR, to Hartford, CT. We had people from 47 states and Canada present. We had great conversations with some really great people on stage.
Over the next week, we will push those conversations out on our podcast feed. You can also see them on the YouTube channel.
I’d like to thank all our sponsors for stepping up in really big ways to make it happen.
As I mentioned on stage, for those of you in Georgia, my friend David Cannon was the photographer. David is an internationally renowned photographer who travels the world for Bass Pro and Cabela and other brands. You are familiar with his work if you get the Bass Pro catalog. He’s on the road all the time. So if you’re in the Southeast and want to work with him, it’d help him not travel so much. He and his family do kinda like each other. You can check out his work here. From architecture to business, he’s got a knack for this photography stuff.
Next year, we are going to shake things up for the Gathering. We’re going to go on the road. We now have radio markets in over a dozen states. Instead of having everyone come to Atlanta, I’ll go to them. Instead of one big event, we will do several smaller ones working with our radio partners and sponsors.
A lot of radio stations no longer have big promotions budgets, etc. We want to be able to bring unique Gathering experiences to our local radio markets that we can promote and organize for our affiliates’ listeners. So stay tuned.
Thanks again for your support, friendship, and for those of you who were able to make it to Atlanta. It was a great event.
A special thanks to Charlie, Philip, and Candice. I’ve been blessed beyond measure having such wonderful friends to make an amazing team.
As for this year’s Gathering, it was the first time Brian Kemp has spoken publicly about Donald Trump’s attacks the prior weekend in Atlanta. It was also the first time Vice President Pence has spoken publicly about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. It was also Mitch McConnell’s first event outside of Kentucky since 2019.
Here is Mike Pence.
I’m sure the gathering was great. Unfortunately if Kamala wins there won’t be a next time to work on making it better.
It’s not all doom and gloom. 5 polls on Friday put out with Trump leading Harris nationally. 1 poll from the super biased NYT/Sienna which hasn’t been correct in 30 years, says Trump is behind and the media pushes that one poll as fact.
Well here’s a fact. Kamala’s support is not as wide as is being displayed.
When members of my family who are Biden voters and liberal supporters saying they won’t vote or leaving the pres part blank. That means something. They DO NOT like Kamala.
Dems can’t be as confident as they are. But let them think they got this ALA 2016 Hillary landslide style. And they will be disappointed just as that year was.
But if people are going to vote based on “feelings” and hurt feelings and not on policy then this nation deserves the disaster it votes itself into.
As mentioned before. The problem is that it is in most states too easy to vote.
Easy means fraud and cheating. And our system is wide open to that.
I don’t really care what you say that Trump is doing wrong. Trump can’t do right no matter what he does. If he cured cancer they would complain that he’s putting oncologist out of work.
Trump could hold the greatest rally ever and the media would twist it to look bad and it’s not good that we have people in the so called conservative media buying into it.
I’m gonna say it. Bank it. Trump will win. That’s it. Deal with it.
I truly enjoyed going to the gathering last year and talking around the table with people from multiple states. Sadly I couldn’t go this year and was already looking forward to the next one. 😁
I do understand though that regional gatherings would help focus on more localized candidates and issues. Encouraging voters to get involved in local and state issues is of primary importance.
