"Her prayer to her god does not offend me."

We are at the threshold of a new species, that is able to tolerate different faiths. Mutual tolerance will prevail, all others will be dead branches on the tree of evolution

I agree. I will never forgive Disney for destroying my childhood and the Star Wars legacy.

I’m a Republican not because I’m a Christian but I believe in certain things the Democrats don’t. If I want a religious experience I will go to a revival meeting or church. Anyone who is a Republican and wants to get government under control pay off the debt stop illegal immigration get the economy growing and help the middle class can be any religion they want I don’t care as long as they leave me my family alone to live my life.

I don't care either.

May husband was in the military for 28 years and I by his side 18 of those. At that time, our chaplains would start any event with a prayer and start the prayer with something like “ let’s bow ow heads in prayer, I’ll pray in my tradition as you can pray in yours”. Something like that. At the time it seemed like a reasonable and accepted accommodation— but I’m sure there were some who objected to any prayer- they probably didn’t feel comfortable objecting.

My point is that trying to accommodate others faiths was well respected at that time. Although it was also a time where not everyone got so easily offended by everything about everyone

else. I wish we.could go back to those attitudes- on both accounts.

I was a chaplain’s assistant a couple of years in the Air Guard. They were all Christian, but would have - and did - pray with an Airman of any faith.

Perhaps, in a weird way it is a good thing the Republicans are abandoning their traditional platform. Hopefully, the Democrats will too. I say this not because I don’t care about the conservative cause or ideas but because as a voter I would love to be able to just pick the best candidate and not the best party. Both parties are trash right now and basically leaderless. Maybe, it is for the best the parties go back to being based on class identity and less on political ones? I don’t know, I’m torn.

It's not your dad's GOP anymore. That's for sure.

That's true... and it isn't JFK's Democrat Party anymore.... not for a very long time.

I don't care if you worship the one-eyed, one-horned flying purple spaghetti monster. As long as you believe that government should be small, taxes should be low, the border should be secure, our cops/military strong and respected, and schools shouldn't be telling kids to hide things from their parents or stock their libraries with pornographic books, then I welcome you.

As always, prescient. I too believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life that no one comes to the Father but through the Son. I am regularly attacked from "my side" because I'm not willing to condemn someone on "my side" who doesn't exactly think, act, and align with me. My faith isn't afraid of other faiths being heard. The truth isn't afraid of other words being spoken. The only people afraid to let other people have their say aren't as certain about what they believe, in my opinion. Pass the popcorn.

Respectfully, the convention shouldn’t be necessarily aligned with your faith.

We need a large tent, you preach inclusion, and then write this type communication.

You are a strange guy sometimes….and to insinuate that nonsense about Biden?

I think you played too much golf in the heat yesterday….sorry, I just don’t agree with this one!

Erick wasn’t the one having the problem with Harmeet Dhillon he was telling us that there were those that did!

My take away was for once the republicans were on the same page and coherently addressing the issues. I didn’t know who Amber Rose is and agree there were definitely better choices than her out there. The union guy was a puzzle but he also was a reminder that unions had their place an actually saved lives and like most things the road to hell was/is paved by good intentions that went wrong at times. What I am actually finding disturbing is any “Christian” person having an issue with Harmeet Dhillon saying her prayer. Our country was founded on Christian principles but supported. fought and died for by many of different beliefs and or no religious beliefs because of their belief in our basic founding principles. Are those people so insecure in their belief in God that they must only hear their own? Is it not what’s in your heart, which God knows anyway? Tell those that complained to save their outrage for those who wish to destroy our founding principles and in the meantime just be the best example you can be!

For those who got agitated at Harmeet Dhillon's Sikh prayer, boy oh boy have I got news for you:

Missus J.D. Vance is (gasp) a practitioner of Hinduism! And Mister J.D. joined his new wife, Ushu Chilukuri, in a second ceremonial wedding while dressed in traditional Hindu costume: https://www.moneycontrol.com/web-stories/incredible-hindu-wedding-pics-of-trumps-running-mate-jd-vance-usha-chilukuri-vance-2274037.html

Y'all clamored for the GOP to finally and truly become inclusive, a big tent, and welcome non-WASPS into the party. Well, here we are, and the Dems' heads will explode anew as they catch on.

Perfect is always and forever the enemy of the good. Over the years the Republican Party has failed to understand this and suffered for it. Are we going to blow things up once again this year trying to be pure and perfect?

I'm interjecting with a seeming non sequitur which is appropriate/timely in the wake of DJT's near assassination. Earlier this morning I let my smartphone undergo an important security update installation. When it was all said and done, I looked at said "security" update: A gaggle of new GAME apps! Now think of Saturday's "security" SNAFUs...
