Of course the responsibility is that of the shooter. However, I am pretty sure that just yesterday, as well as recently in other columns, you acknowledged that the violent, hysterical rhetoric coming from the left could easily inspire someone to take real action. If one believes Trump will "destroy democracy", assassinate his political opponents, create concentration camps because he is "literally Hitler", one can justify eliminating him. While we don't know a lot about the guy who made the attempt, it isn't far fetched to think that this is exactly what happened. He seems like the looser kid in school who was bullied, didn't have friends and probably felt like a nobody. How hard is it to think, after hearing that there was a second incarnation of Hitler right here in this country, that he decided to be the "hero" who saved the world from another Hitler? And the rhetoric and violence comes pretty much exclusively from the left. Just because one can find a few random people on the right who say equally stupid things, they aren't anyone in politics or with a high profile. Elected republicans have not said anything even close to what democrats, media and celebrities have said.

Donald Trump will probably be out next president. It appears he has had something of an epiphany since the assassination attempt. He’s torn up his acceptance speech and is writing anew with a more unifying message. I was not going to bother watching the Republican National Convention (RNC) but now, it is my civic duty to do so. This man is going to be my president.

Unlike Erick, I won’t be sending him money and I won’t be voting for him. I won’t be voting for Biden either. If he drops out, I’ll reconsider, perhaps. But I doubt it.

Unlike Erick apparently, I still contend he is unfit to hold the office for all the reasons I’ve written about but primarily for attempting to remain in office through unconstitutional means. He has demonstrated daily his unfitness in a myriad of actions and statements.

I’m not religious but I respect the role of religion in our culture. I know that religion can and has changed lives for the better. It is my sincere hope that his near-death experience has changed him. The RNC will be a good place to observe if there’s been such a change.

I’m 73 and don’t belong to the AARP because I don’t want my money going to an organization that supports the Democrats. Likewise, I don’t want my money going to someone supporting THIS Republican Party.

“…primarily for attempting to remain in office through unconstitutional means.” Please explain to me how Donald Trump attempted this; I’m curious. 🤔

Kinda ironic that the Biden campaign said it was going to suspend 'all outgoing' communication in the immediate aftermath of the PA rally.

That means their communication is 'incoming' to their intended target(s) like the bullets that flew towards the stage on which Trump stood.

Somehow, I just believe this is somewhat like the JFK assassination attempt. I cannot believe that this young man, with the information we know about him to date, could have attempted such an event totally on his own. My relation to the JFK event is that it took more than 50 years for information to emerge that the CIA was behind the scheme. This morning I read that one of the SS agents had alerted his supervisor of a man on a roof with a weapon. He was told to stand down by the supervisor, who was apparently aware of the situation. In the end, the shooter had to be "eliminated" because no one could afford him talking about the event. I truly believe we will never learn the truth.

Without the Zapruder film, there would have been no talk of a conspiracy/coverup because there would have been no video of JFK getting shot.

Flash forward to 2024.

Just about everyone carries a smartphone with a camera in it.

There's witnesses who said that there was a guy on that roof with a gun, just minutes before Trump was shot. For some reason, both teams of Secret Service Snipers re-positioned their guns in the direction of the shooter. Here's a short, but interesting, video:

It's like they don't even realize that if Trump had been taken out, literally anyone the Republicans ran would beat Biden far worse.

Great article Erick! I want to remind everyone of a couple of things. First and foremost, we have a REPUBLIC, NOT a democracy. Our Founding Fathers intentionally did not set up a democracy. For some good reading, try Plato's Republic. Second, something most of us know is that the left and the DemonRats are the ones who project ther own fantasies of Authoritarian Rule and violence onto conservatives. The left has always used violence as a means to an end-the end justifies the means. All you need to do is look to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and you will see that the thread continues-sometimes overt, sometimes covert-but from the Marxists, Leninists, Stalinists, Communists-all the various iterations throughout history they seize power and maintain it through violence. The United States has been their sought-after prize since the 30's, maybe even before. They have systematically, incrementally taken over or at least infiltrated our institutions; education, media, entertainment, the arts, even main stream religious ones and they do start out in sheep's clothing but become bolder and bolder while so many remain asleep. But the impatient ones are compelled to use violence. (Don't wait around for elections-just destroy your opponent however you can and if you kill them in the process, so be it!) Some of the reports regarding the 20 year old shooter were not only that he was a "registered Republican" but that he was a math and science genius and a "loner" of course. If he were such a genius, why was he not in college, but in some menial job? There are so many questions about this "fall guy", but indeed he is the one responsible. I worry about not only ALL Republicans running for office, but also the Supreme Court Justices. They have already been targeted and may be again. I also think Joe Biden should worry about who in his own party are out to get him and keep his guard up-they are the same people. Our Founders did not want this, they warned about it. For so long I believed our country was exempt from this kind of corruption, bribery, violence, incivility; I thought we were above all that, that we had honor on all sides and a love for this country, so it is very sad to see this devolution of our society. The one bright spot I was hearing all weekend was that God was being praised and referenced so often by so many. He is the only way back home!

Now you understand the strategic benefit of identity politics. This is going to cause good Republicans to squirm, but today if you agree with equality, it is time you shed your dinosaur brain impulse to treat women, minorities, activist young people and girly men as deserving extra protection from harsh words. Democrats are crybullies. They scratch your eyes out, encourage malcontent ugly thug young people to smash your head, and then retreat into a defense of being a victim of oppression or a victim advocate. What a fantastic battle plan… to be both the evil, disgusting, shrill, nasty perpetrator and instigator of political violence while also branding themselves as righteous victims of harm and oppression.

The analogy is like a husband and wife where the fit husband tells his overweight wife that her butt does in fact look fat in those jeans because she is obese…. She burns down their house in a rage of anger and at the trial tells a jury of majority women that it is the husband’s fault for his hurtful and insensitive comment. And a percentage of us idiot conservatives side with the wife because we want sex and thus walk on eggshells to prevent her from getting upset.

We want civility, peace and friendly relations so badly… our Christian values… that we shrug and retreat into accommodation for those flailing about. But they are not flailing about. They are well organized, well funded and well trained to exploit those impulses to beat you to a pulp while you, fearful of being labeled a misogynist or other word crime brand, keep your mouth shut.

Big picture: God IS sovereign; nothing happens that He doesn't either a. cause or b. allow. Nothing. Our job is to pray for wisdom as we try to discern His purpose. Was the 'near miss' His protection of DJT or was it to get DJT's attention? Or ? Either way, what was/is His purpose? i'll be interested to see if anyone's behavior changes, DJT's, JRB's....et.al. 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Romans 9:14-16

If 'words are violence,' then the Leftist Media is violent.

If the Left holds Trump responsible for the actions of people in Charlottesville and on January 6, shouldn't they be held responsible for the actions of their viewers/readers/listeners?

Blame the Victim runs deep in the MSM remember Monica, Jennifer, and anybody else from the Clinton years? They protect and defend there own we know that no matter what. I’m retired and my income is fixed I’ve lost 20% plus in value on my money and the MSM Democrat alliance tells me DJT was bad for the country. They are in total denial of reality I was better off with Trump and his policies than now and will vote for DJT and the Republican Ticket and then watch the MSM melt down on election night when they find out they are irrelevant

Interesting the emphasis on the importance of words…unhoused, undocumented, pregnant person, chest feeding, etc. while others are fair game for opponents…fascist, existential threat, dictator, Hitler. 🤔

So it turns out that Blair Biden deleted a cowardly comment the other day and continues to lecture everyone about the harm of TRUMP. I tried to be civil to what can only be described as "sewage". Blair you are a miserable DISGRACE but I hope you churn in the hell you will experience when Trump is elected again! You spend your days...all day commenting on Substack about Trump....seek help...get a job...get a life. HATE is like a cancer...it spreads...and when people respond to your idiocy...it spreads more...IGNORE the garbage...eventually it will go away...and that's all I have to say about that...
