Trump standing up for regular people? Laughable. He is the elite of the elite. Remember the campaign stop in Nebraska I believe where he left those people out in the cold waiting for buses after the rally? Trump doesn't give two caps about anything or anyone but himself. All of the elite behave in this manner. Trump really has people fooled.

Elitists of all stripes seem to have a common thread--arrogance and condescension. BUT, exceptions to every rule. Musk, Rogan, and even Trump...they may be rich, but they do seem genuinely concerned about working class folks. Affluent populists.

What about the Trumps, Erick? Not corrupt?

I tend to agree with Peaceful dad below. Won't address the corruption because I don't know that ANYONE accumulates that much wealth without at least some corruption, but I don't believe he would've instituted mandates. His comment in March of 2020 was "We can't allow the cure to be more painful than the pandemic," meaning that we couldn't allow the economy to wallow indefinitely. I also agree that Trump DID somehow manage to stand for the non-elites and working class. Rather than shy away from his wealth, it was almost as if he said "Hell yes, I'm rich! Now c'mon, let's do this together and you can get rich, too!" Really a shame that he had to fight every (Twitter) battle rather than worrying more about winning the war.

Trump, corrupt or not, would not have instigated mandates. He is rich, like the elites, but somehow manages to stand for the non-elites and working class America. Kind of like Joe Rogan, I guess. Hence the reason he is not a focus of Erick's piece.
