As a global pandemic raged and governments began locking down and sheltering citizens in place, the United States Congress allocated $46.5 billion in rental assistance. With a moratorium in place to prevent evictions, Congress was mindful landlords would need help paying the mortgages on their rental properties. Renters would need help paying rent.
There has never been the successful emergence of a modern totalitarian state where the ruling class has neglected to take the arms (guns) from the citizens. I wonder what the Left plans to do about this little oversight?
I think we are here because of liberal policies and the idea that Government not only can but should solve all problems real and perceived.
As Eric Erickson said, may the reason for all this strife is Government has already solved all the problems it can.
It can't fix the mental illness of people thinking they can change their sex, or cancel culture that is offended by everything past, present, and what you are about to say or do, or the resurgence of racism as CRT, or hysterical COVID ninnies that what everyone in a mask 24/7, or the false narrative that policing is inherently racist, or guns cause crime.
No, Government can't fix stupid. But the politicians can not engage in and with stupid. The problems is Government is downhill from society, and society is downhill from an ad campaign and propaganda.
However, the answer is not conservative version of liberal ideology mandated by Government, or put another way, the answer is not Donald Trump. And it's also not Hershal Walker.
Are we too far gone? Liberalism preached tolerance until it gained the ability to silence opposition. Now those that stood fast are the "pushing" an agenda. The Overton Window has moved, is moving, and unless you understand BY, Before You (Bill Maher) you have no objective view.
Are we past the point of being able to elect representatives that understand their role should be to first figure out if Government should be involved, and if involved should just stop being involved?
This is your best commentary. You explained exactly why people don’t trust the experts on the vaccine. You don’t need a PhD to figure out that the masks we wear are for show and only surgical and N95 masks offer any protection. If any virus is on the surfaces of the mask, they are on your clothes also. Any vaccine has side effects. Are these any worse than others? What percentage? More people died in India because the population is bigger. The same percentage we have.
Unlike Nero, who is supposed to have fiddled while Rome burned, Biden is not only stoping people who are trying to put out the fires and evacuate people in their path, he's helping the arsonists set even more fires.
We won't know how badly this will hurt us until something happens that will leave no doubt.
This is one of the darkest chapters in our country's history. But at least there are no mean tweets, right?
"until something happens," you wrote. Then it did. 13 American servicemen died at the hands of ISIS with the complicity of the Taliban. The entire Biden administration should resign--including Nancy Pelosi.
The late, great Wm. F. Buckley famously said, "Id rather be governed by the first 200 people in the New York telephone directory..."
As horrible as this event was, it will pale in compsrison to what I'm talking about. With the ability to train unaccosted, and with a steady and immense flow of cash from China in exchange for mining rights, the Taliban and their ilk will be able to pull something off that won't even make 9-11 a reference point. And while we may think that event will be as bad as it gets, it will get worse. We just won't know it until we do.
I don't recall where I read this, the black plague came into the Roman empire at the end. They could not control the plague. It was running through the population and through the Roman troops. It seems as if we have our own plague now and lots of us are refusing to take refuge. If I am wrong about this someone inform me please. Dan
I blame ALL Christian Pastors. They all had a chance to build a firm foundation of Christian principals and followers of Jesus. Instead, they were focused on filling seats, big screens, wearing torn jeans and getting on speaking circuits (think that fallacious hack A. Stanley).
Get yourself ready, we have a front row seat to the end of our Republic.
Nah. I’ll bet your pastor has no sermons on transgender, critical race, divorce, homosexuality and goodness forbid the 63 million babies sacrificed at the alter of convenience. Nope, nope, nope.
No comment. I’m in sackcloth and ashes this morning.

Every word you write has been true. Yet this truth is extremely hard. because it is really true.

Hear, hear.

I pray I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
Did the US have “mining rights” in Afghanistan over the past 20 years?
Not that ever has been talked about.

Well, they're still collecting taxes, anyway...

Too broad of a brush Andy. My pastor is not like what you describe.
Nah. I’ll bet your pastor has no sermons on transgender, critical race, divorce, homosexuality and goodness forbid the 63 million babies sacrificed at the alter of convenience. Nope, nope, nope.
