Say what you will about Donald Trump, but he was never successfully able to overturn the election or change the rules to keep himself in office.
Joe Biden has a thirty-three percent approval rating in the Quinnipac poll, which is lower than Donald Trump ever got.
A President with only 33% popular support wants the Senate Democrats to change the Senate rules by ignoring the Senate Rules requirement of a 2/3 vote to change said rules in order to pass a voting bill designed to keep Democrats in power.
But the GOP are the enemies of democracy?
If the Democrats, with just fifty seats in the Senate, unilaterally break the rules of the Senate to alter them in order to keep themselves in power, they’ll be not just hypocrites, but the actual threat to the republic they claim Republicans are.
I don’t need to give you 1000 words on that. That’s the post.
But I would note that Biden has only a 28% approval rating among Hispanic voters. Hispanic voters give him a lower approval rating than even white voters.
Even Democrats are far less likely to support Biden than Republicans were to support Trump. Three-quarters of Democrats support him. Those are not good numbers for an incumbent President to get from his own party.
I’m sure Republicans would love to have the election tomorrow. Events can change things. But every day that goes by, it looks like Americans turned on Joe Biden after Aghanistan and have never turned back to him. Everything that happens now is viewed through the framing of the guy they thought was empathetic and competent is actually an incompetent jackass who just might have dementia.
That’s hard to recover from.
Many Black voters are fleeing the Democrats, and now Hispanics are doing likewise. Exactly how do the Democrats expect to win any more elections if they drive away the historically most loyal segments of their base?
I might have to revise my estimate of a 40 - 50 seat Republican gain in the House to 65 or more seats. If Republicans don’t screw it up (always a possibility), and potentially the dominant position in American electoral politics for a decade or more.
Barack Obama was right when he reminded people to “never underestimate Joe’s ability to (bleep) things up.” And Congress may have the “first among equals” stature the Executive Branch has had since FDR.
That’s a great year’s work, Joe!
Biden is a disgrace. We must not panic; this too shall pass. Why is it that so many politicians totally ignore the oath they take to hold office?
