Up front, let me just note that there is nothing really America First about keeping a Chinese surveillance app alive, particularly in defiance of American law.
Speaking of Little Red Book, a lot of PRC commissars are now all fretting about all of the Omnicause ("woke") stuff that baizuo (white lefties) are now posting on the platform. And a lot of the PRC tradcons are getting their panties in a wad.
What happened to the Trump law and order pledge? Trying to finagle a TicTok fix around with an illegal presidential ex-order over a law passed by congress and affirmed by the Supreme Court is not a good look for our new president. Isn't this what Trump pounded on the Biden administration for?
I was about to say this exact same thing. Trump KNOWS what TikTok is and who owns it, and what they're using it for. The law wasn't bipartisan for nothing. It's like one of my favorite movie quotes from Predator: "It just doesn't make any sense, Major."
I'm sick and tired of presidential power being abused, and NO ONE is devising a method to get it under control. Good grief, Jefferson thought Washington had too much power, but even the Federalists would be screaming to the rafters over our current state of being. Governing by EOs leads to instability. EOs aren't supposed to be party favors.
The U. S. Congress is making itself irrelevant, but can get this under control, but Gen X may be our last opportunity (BTW, the president isn't supposed to create new departments, either, like DOGE and External Revenue Service, but through congress and signed by him; he can't declare part of an amendment defunct).
My son and I were trading ideas:
1. Time for an actual Conservative, of Tea Party ilk, who believes in limited government to be elected next time around, with all of congress in Republican hands.
2. Congress focuses on passing a law detailing limits on presidential power.
3. It passes a law declaring all EOs null and void. If you like the idea or principles behind one, then sponser a law to get it passed.
4. Then, it puts limits on HOW MANY, and WHAT KIND of EOs can be signed by any president. Period.
If this type of endeavor doesn't happen, we've crossed The Rubicon. The constitutional separation of powers and specifically those of the president, need to be defined in stone, now, since we don't have enough good men to restrain themselves, anymore. Executive abuse of power is what our Founders were so concerned about. Both parties are infected.
I’m also disappointed in his speech following the inauguration speech. He should have made it clear he is a president for ALL people and tried to reassure those who did not vote for him that he would show them he is well intentioned.
I do hope in the future he will make that speech and (this is for you, Erick) that those close to him - that have his ear so to speak- will suggest to him that he do so.
He said he wanted to be a president for all the people and he wants to govern from a place of peace. He might want to start there.
If you want to have a good laugh turn over to MSNBC for a bit. Today is the Apocalypse for them. It's funny that after each of them takes their turn predicting the end of the world that they all finish with "and here we are."
I do not have a tictok account, nor give two hoots about it. But I do believe that the bill allowed a 90-day period after the law took effect for a sale to take place. Could be wrong. In any event, it cannot be allowed to continue with CCP dominance.
There must be proof that TT is divesting from the CCP- not 50%, but 100%. The 90-day caveat shouldn't have been put into place AFTER it went into effect. That gave too much wiggle room. The CCP has had 9 MONTHS to accept an offer for Pete's sake.
I'm livid about ignoring the TikTok law by executive fiat. That's no different than Biden ignoring immigration law due to his personal/political reasons. It's not a function of presidential power. If he doesn't like the law, try to float a repeal of it through congress, but he has NO authority to just "pause" it! I hope saner minds will prevail upon him to rethink.
Erick: We cannot simply blame the Democrats for not running a better candidate. With the inflation situation, no Democrat would have had much of a chance of beating any Republican nominee. No, the blame for the now China loving Trump (all it takes is money) being president rests solely with the MAGA cult base that forced him upon us.
Im my opinion the Biden administration has been a rolling CIRCUS every single day. You aren't going to convince me that the Trump administration will be more so. I have several points:
1. April 2022 was when I initially noticed that Joe wasn't 'all right.' Why else was the Easter Bunny corraling him in at the White House Easter Egg roll? I started paying closer attention.
2. The politicization of the FBI , etc. and various lawsuits being filed by various cities & states against Trump & associates.
3. Knowing from the get go that the VP candidate was dumber than a box of rocks yet Biden continued to refer to her as 'the President,' the Biden-Harris administration, etc.
There's more but MANY of us saw it a long time ago. Then, love it or hate it, after the debate with Biden's failure to coherently answer(not the 1st time, it was never a stutter), watching Trump work, granted, for a few hrs, at a McDonald's, then ride & do the garbage truck run, then listend to the Rogan interview.
All reasons I can see people being persuaded to vote for Trump.
Watching Biden's farewell address and ABC's anchors trying to describe him as a great historic leader in sycophantic fashion had almost a Carter-esque fashion to it. On a number of issues, Biden failed as a president and the people who covered his failures are still trying even at this late hour to pretend that they are objective truth tellers who can be trusted to give you honest information. I saw a similar hubris in grad school among college professors in that behind closed doors, they pride themselves on being Progressive activists but when challenged in public they present themselves as experts who should not be questioned. Americans traditionally vote with their feet or in this case with their TV remotes. They caught on to the charade and are not playing along with these institutions that have soiled their credibility to become propaganda outlets for the Democratic Party.
The optimist in me says that we've reached the highwater mark for wokeism and DEI. Now America is going to shift back to the center-right and we'll become sane as a country again. However, a word of warning for Republicans celebrating the Donald Trump inauguration. Landslides are never permanent and though those swept into power can just as easily be swept out of power if they don't solve the problems facing the country. Immigration, Cost of Living, China/Russia/Iran attacking our allies, DEI bureaucrats corrupting trusted institutions. The focus should be on solving those issues. My worry is that Trump takes his eye off the ball. That he focuses so much on wanting to buy Greenland or sticking it to our allies that he doesn't shore up our alliances. That his opposition to the TikTok ban is a sign that his tough on China talk was just hot air. That his demands that his "achieving" a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas shows he doesn't want an Israeli victory but just wants the conflict to go away. That his being in favor of raising the debt limit shows he wants to spend like a drunken sailor and damn the debt we pass on to our children. And of course, his belief that demagoguing and dominating the news with tweets and social media is a substitute for governing.
Just like the Press sycophantly propping up Biden and the Democrats unwilling to correct course or question the party bosses; a similar dynamic is at play in the Republican party except to the whims of one man. Ignoring and excusing his behavior as just part of a show or getting the deal done. The gamble his supporters are making is that Trump is what's needed to fix the country and boy do we need fixing. We have an incompetent governing class hellbent on causing the country to decline. If Trump is successful, then we're looking at a paradigm shift in American culture similar to Reagan or Obama over the next fifteen years before it shifts back to the Left and in that time, we'll have solved a number of pressing issues. If the gamble is a bad bet, then the GOP will be swept in the upcoming midterms, and we'll end up with a Democratic party that has likely gone farther Left taking power and further wrecking the country. The latter prospect is decline like we see in California where the state is literally burning to the ground while the bureaucrats and political bosses lecture taxpayers about diversity. I pray for Trump's success and hope that he fixes the country's problems like his supporters believe he will.
This is off topic to the article but Erick I think you need to talk about this.
George soros is funding an organization EMF that just bought up several local christian stations across the nation and shut them down.
As of Jan 31st 104.7 the fish will shut down and be replaced by a national “Christian” station Klove. I call it G$$ love because the organization that backs them is an affirming church and is backed by George soros.
The fish is/was the local radio station playing religious Christian music. But that’s not all they were. They were a local community staple and the morning show with Kevin and Taylor has often been a part of many people’s lives. They had things like keep the faith, Christmas wish, and several local empowering faith events for local businesses.
Soon to be replaced by a generic non local “Christian” music station that will do nothing to benefit the community.
There is nothing that can be done to save the Fish but we need to sign the petition to send a message to the parent company that is wrong and they are horrible evil people for doing it.
Which brings me lastly to the point. These people are not just going to slink away into the night. They are going to continue to back shadow causes to bring down this nation. George S is the devil in the flesh.
I wish there was a way we could get this info to Trump but something has to be said. We can’t save the FISH but we can absolutely publicly discuss it and I thank you in advance for your help.
Hold on people don’t expect to much tictoc ain’t going no where and nothing will get done in government because it’s government and all they do is for themselves and too Hell with the American people SOS if you know what I mean

Is this an Uno Reverse Card?
Pirate Wires had an interesting take on Trump "saving" TikTok.
Essentially, he is holding TikTok hostage. He could shut it down with the stroke of a pen.
Not sure if this passes legal muster, since the law is to kick TikTok out immediately.
Let's hope he gets something worthwhile for the hostage, and something more substantive than PRC access for X and Meta.
Let's hope he doesn't get rolled by Pooh Bear.

I’m disappointed in Trump’s stance in Tik Tok.
He should not have interfered and left it dark.
I’m also disappointed in his speech following the inauguration speech. He should have made it clear he is a president for ALL people and tried to reassure those who did not vote for him that he would show them he is well intentioned.

The nightmare of the past 4 years is finally over. Thank God the adults are back in charge.

You can say what you will about Trump and tic toc for as Scarlet said tomorrow is another day.
Today I am basking in the cold sunshine that Biden is gone. Hip hip hooray.
Now if we could just get rid of the Hamas sympathizers.
And the illegal alien cartels.
Absolutely

So why did they vote for Trump in the primaries?
I should have clarified that the people who pushed Trump over the top to win. Thanks for catching that.

The press fibbed about Biden and Harris.
The relevant tale is "The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf". The press plays the role of the little boy. The real wolf has arrived.
