Interesting. I can't see Vivek or Tulsi in any cabinet with Nikki Haley. They loathe her. I would bet money that Haley has no place in a future Trump administration and that it would be a mutual decision. As much as I'm not a fan of Kari Lake, she would make an excellent press secretary for Trump.
History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme sometime.
The Wrong Timing -- Israel had sinful motives in demanding a king, as they wanted to be like the other nations instead of the holy (set apart) nation that Yahweh had made them (Exodus 19:6). However, there was also a problem with the timing of the king. God had always planned to send Israel a true King, the Lord Jesus Christ, at the proper time. But Israel lacked patience. Israel’s sinful demand meant that the kingship would be a judgment on them for rejecting Yahweh. In asking for a king who would judge them, God gave Israel exactly what they asked for—an earthly king who would seek his own. And that is what we see in the history of Israel’s monarchy, as Israel’s kings were out for themselves. Outside of a few exceptions, Israel’s kings were wicked and oppressive. Even the ideal king, David, had his moral failings. In many ways, the monarchy was a judgment upon Israel.
Ok, what if Trump makes peace with Haley, and gets her as VP? If Trump gets a trumpian vp candidate, how will that help? Winning in November is the goal. Trump must do everything possible to make himself be the most logical choice. Haley could be the modifier that could get some off the fence and into the conservative camp.
Whether Trump wants to or not doesn’t matter, what will help conservatives win in November does. Sure, Trump should suck that up, if necessary. Duty over ego.
I don't think Trump will listen to or take advice from anyone who isn't a sycophant. That said, your optimism about his (or anybody's!) ability to change makes me like you as a person - you and Carmine Pescatore, who is hopeful for Trump's "Nathan moment."
My take is two fake impeachments, 24/7 negative press, may have had an unfair effect on the 2020 election. You’re safe in this venue, Blair. Having an opinion that is or isn’t possibly a popular one matters not.
Yeah, ‘fake’ wasn’t the right term for the 2nd impeachment. Always believe in respectful dialogue. I do listen to Fox a lot, but they’re an outlier among the rest of media. During pandemic, did watch some of the legacy news outlets. Was shocked at what they left out or obfuscated. I’m talking ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. 2020 election Hunter Biden story was tanked by legacy media and social media. Trump had for three years been maligned as Russian asset. Low information voters listen to general news less critically, then assume ‘Trump Bad , Biden Uniter’, as they are told. Blair, there’s a lot about Ukraine that’s never talked about, certainly not here. I’m just a guy, no special knowledge/connections, but I read and I sniff out weirdness, and there’s plenty of weirdness in Ukraine. From what I’ve read , it’s an offshore security agency playground where questions aren’t asked. I think if Americans knew the things that our country has done there and through there in the name of some ‘greater good’ they define, we may not be so proud. Chuck Schumer said the security agencies if they want to can get you over a barrel quickly. He’s a dem. Why do they have so much power, beyond any oversight? Trump is a threat to that because he’s not bought. DeSantis and Haley are threats as well, but they didn’t win the Republican nomination. Biden is very controllable which is perfect for them. And who exactly is ‘them’ I’m not sure but there’s definitely a fifth column undermining our nation, and it’s real. But, God’s in charge. These nebulous people thumb their noses at God. And in Psalms it says He laughs at them. In my mind one reason He laughs is the amazing foolishness they display as they do their wicked schemes, then imagine they’ll live forever. I wish Trump were a Christian, but actions speak loudly. But God can use people who aren’t Christians to do His will. I personally hope the best for him and knowing the Lord should be his highest goal. He knows the truth and is responsible to follow that truth. I sincerely hope he does. But for some reason, he makes policy decisions that are more in line with what I find reasonable, so that’s why I’ll vote for him if he’s the guy. Very long, sorry.
I doubt Trump will win the general election. I believe we're being "hood-winked" and something is going to mess up the whole momentum DJT seems to have. When polls show that the ONLY candidate Biden could possibly beat IS TRUMP why would the party do that to themselves? I'm checking out of this nonsense until late summer. I'll still listen to you Eric, but I will never underestimate the GOP's ability to eff things up just like I'll believe Obama who said, "Never underestimate Biden's ability to eff things up." Something has to give way. (Yeah, I'm a boomer as you're aware. A younger boomer and some would say an older Gen-X.)
It will probably come down to who Trump picks as his VP. The smart choice is Haley. Just like Bush was kicked by Reagan to unify the party.
But we are unfortunately not that lucky.
I still laugh at this statistic. 85% of people polled wants someone other than Trump or Biden. Clearly that’s fake.
If people were really aware enough that picking Trump is a guaranteed loss. I’m not sure that would change their votes. There is just way too many Trump loyalist to beat him in a primary.
Oh well. Enjoy another four years of Biden because that’s where this is heading. Whether by mail in ballot shenanigans or some other means. They won’t let him win.
"They won't let him win". Many rogue people in the security alphabet agencies have much to worry about if Trump did win, and rightly so. This is the actual threat to our republic, the security complex that Eisenhower warned us about and that appears to be engulfing our freedoms. This is why we have to fight , Chaz, (metaphorical, NSA) to not let the dems have control because dems are controlled.
Chaz, gotta do all we can to not let that happen. Election like no other. I've read what you think in other posts, but Trump, as an act of duty, must amend himself to appeal to enough independents and disaffected republicans to go beyond the tipping point. We should think of ways to help him do that.
Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the Lord, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood that he had shed. For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord would not pardon. (I Kings 24:3-4)
If there are, among my countrymen and countrywomen, those who still believe in the inspiration, infallibility, and inerrancy of Scripture, these verses have to strike a holy fear in us. There is a point of no return in the life of the nation that turns its back on God. I am neither a prophet not the son of a prophet, but I believe that America is very near the precipice of the slippery slope if it is not already past it. It appears that November will present us with the choice of two arrogant men for the office of president - both of which profess belief in God but neither of which lives in the light of such belief.
This need not surprise us. All we have to do is to look at the history of Israel. The Northern Kingdom (likened to the Democratic Party) was unabashed in its pursuit of pagan gods. The Southern Kingdom (likened to the Republican Party) was more hypocritical than the Northern Kingdom. They bragged about the "Temple of the Lord." True, the temple, the place where man met God, was in the domain of their politics, but meeting God was far from the domain of their hearts.
But God is rich in mercy. Even Manasseh, the king who pushed Judah past the point of no return, repented when the king of Assyria drug him into captivity with hooks through his nose. He spent the rest of his life attempting to undo what he had done prior to his repentance. Alas, it was too little too late. He died, and his son Amon multiplied guilt in Judah to the extent that the people of the land conspired against him and took him out in favor of his 8 year old son - Josiah. Who would have thought that the boy king would have been Judah's last hope? But in God's economy, the boy king was that last ray of light in Israel's dark history.
Could God be merciful to us and give us another Josiah? We can certainly pray that He would.
God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines of never-failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs, and works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; the clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break with in blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, but trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence, He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err, and scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter, and He will make it plain.

I read somewhere that The Govt has paid off interns and staff for sex harassment lawsuits (non disclosure agreements)
Why is this different than Stormey daniels
Agree the museums and library of congress are worth our taxes. About 600 fed gov agencies are not.
A few suggestions for Trump's Admin:
Tim Scott: VP
Cabinet:
Nikki Haley: Sec of State
Vivek: Sec of Commerce
Ron Desantis: Attorney General
Kristi Noem: Sec of Interior
Greg Abbott: Sec of Homeland Security
Tom Cotton: Sec of Defense
Will Hurd: Director of CIA
Ben Carson: Sec of HHS
Tulsi Gabbard: Sec of Veterans Affairs
Kari Lake: WH Press Secretary
Chris Christie: FBI Director
Chris Christie: AG
Not happening but he was made for it.
I coould go for Christie as AG, but I agree with you he wouldn't go for it.
Maybe make him a special Justice Department Inspector General to investigate and clear out the Justice Dept.

I like your thinking. I fear we’ll get a bunch of Maga rearend kissers, but hope to be surprised.
Bon chance

I have a load of cute quotes to post about the candidates but the only important one is “are you better off now than four years ago?”.

I'd hope so, but I don't believe "duty over ego" is Trumps modus operandi.
Really has to be and if I ever met him, I’d respectfully tell him just that. This is way bigger than him.
I don't think Trump will listen to or take advice from anyone who isn't a sycophant. That said, your optimism about his (or anybody's!) ability to change makes me like you as a person - you and Carmine Pescatore, who is hopeful for Trump's "Nathan moment."

Perhaps God, rather than having mercy on us as Erick said, is rendering a verdict on His judgment of us.
That happened the day Obama was elected and has gotten progressively worse every four years.
Enjoy your day !

Both these men are at an age where human mortality could intervene, certainly within four years.
I’m getting my visions of 22 and the walker nonsense. Big excitement in April and then a total crash in November.

Three steps forward and four steps back vs. the corrupt and seriously cognitively declined. This is The Enlightened Republic in 2024.
'May God have mercy on all of us'. I concur. Sigh.
