I thought the msm destroyed everyone who started to lead the pack in 2016 with the hopes of continuing the Trump bravery train and their thought that there is no way he could win, but the ratings were fantastic every time he spoke!

Which of the proposed candidates is a proven warrior? Which is actually willing and able to get down and dirty? I've had it with the pretty boys, the narcissists with the fresh manicure. If the GOP is unable to sully itself by picking a fighter, its days truly are numbered. I'm sick of the negativity, the yapping from the sidelines. Sure, no one likes Trump. So, what!? Have you got someone demonstrably better? If so, talk him up and remain silent on Trump.

GOP needs to learn what "keep your powder dry" means.

Trump brought in working class Democrats to vote Republican. Reagan did that too. Establishment Republicans cannot win without doing the same. Hate Trump all you want, but without a Trump-like message and platform, the Democrats lie their way to that union-support message to carve off working class votes.

When I realized Trump had beaten Hillary in 2016, I fell to my knees and some lyrics of Dan Fogelberg’s “Sutters Mill” spontaneously sprang into my head - “some would thank the Lord for their Deliverance.” I had been resigned to another Clinton presidency.

Today I pray for deliverance from Trump’s post 2020 baleful influence on the Republican Party.

You are correct. You explain why I am so tired reading about American electoral history in the late 20th and early 21st century. Somebody please step up and lead!

I can be a bit slow on the uptake. I read the paragraph beginning with “If the establishment wants to shape the field” a few times.

So, two big money guys Ken griffin and Steve Schwarzman will not support Trump. Griffin has all but declared he’s in for DeSantis. Schwarzman hasn’t declared a favorite yet.

So, are you suggesting these guys and others create Superpacs to soften the base and when the polls show their candidate(s) are preferred it’ll further whet their appetite for power and overcome their fear of Trump?

Glad to see the footnote. People forget that a lot of Trump's support in 2016 came less from love for him and more from dislike of Clinton.

Amem. People forget more Republicans voted against Trump than for him when they were given the chance. He is not the Republican party.

And you mentioned coronation without mentioning Hillary, but I was glad to see her name at the end. The fact that she was the first serious female candidate for President did cause some excitement, but most average Democrats I knew were not excited about her candidacy. She was terrible, but she was the party machine's respomse to Trump. We know now the party stacked the odds in her favor to help her beat Bernie. And she was so bad they had to create a Russia collusion myth to justify her loss.

Sort of like Trump had to create a lie to justify his loss.

In mentioning the "first serious female candidate," how DARE you be so insensitive! Do you know Hillary's preferred pronouns?? How do you know she doesn't prefer "zee" or "zi" or "pedophile wrangler"??

Erudite and correct analysis. The middle finger does seem to present itself a lot lately.
