The reason you see such a pervasive shift in the white evangelical church is due to a disdain of expositional, exegetical preaching. When you chose what you will teach based on a topic currently in the most avant-garde news cycle, this is what you will eventually get.

Too many pastors chase “topics” rather than the Holy Spirit. If pastors would actually teach what is revealed in Scripture—and take their teaching, their points from the Bible rather than what’s currently Tweeting, idolatry and Gnosticism would be far less prevalent.

What about the kind of reparations that are championed by the likes of Chris Broussard?

EXCELLENT piece, Erick! I have long said that the left behaves as if they have "some special insight that no one else possesses" on ALL topics, and its genesis is an arrogance rooted in the purveyor's academic standing. The use of overly complex words or phrases is NOT an accident, it is an intentional part of a greater strategy to intimidate the intended victim(s) into capitulation. Bull$%^# by any other word is still bull$%^#, they just package it in intriguing gift wrap.

"Maybe they need to repent and embrace the real gospel." Dream on, Erick. These people have been convinced, or maybe intimidated, into believing that the answer as proposed by a bunch of Marxists, who by definition are anti religion, is the way to the bogus notion of "collective salvation". Reparations are for them the only way America can hope to atone - and doubtless were that to happen, those seeking the endorsement of the Marxists will discover that the target has moved, and that there's always another hoop through which to jump.

For the government to take my money and give it to a black person to repay them for slavery that they were never a part of is taxation without representation!

Why?

See, what happens when they take my money, an Irishman whose ancestors were white slaves, and repay the black person whose family NEVER WAS SLAVES!?? Hummm??

Reparations for ANYTHING over 5 years ago IS plain stupidity! Therefore those that push it, do not need to be in places of authority!!

I agree, just preach the gospel. Telling people they are racists without any specific evidence is just wrong.

A fine and truthful column. I would add only one point of disagreement: This is not genuine guilt, which shows its sincerity by its honest, persistent efforts to help those who've been disadvantaged in life. Rather, it's a brazen sense of superiority disguised in the costume of a conscience-more-sensitive-than-thine. That's why the wokesters show such indifference to the real interests of, say, black store-owners whose premises have been trashed by rioters, or young black students now being encouraged to discard ambition, discipline and hard work as the way to achieve success. Why should they care what happens to real people? They're far too busy preening and strutting and showing off their virtue bona fides.

Only idiots believe that there is some kind of justice when people who had nothing to do with slavery pay reparations to people who had nothing to do with being slaves.
