I remember the trailer fiasco after Katrina where the Federal government bought a lot of trailers and ended up putting them on less used airports where they slowly decayed because they were never used.
FEMA is just another federal agency created to help but throwing taxpayer money away is not a good way to provide assistance. The Federal government should provide funds to the State Dept of Transportation to reimburse them for getting federal roads up and running, provide active military specialty units in hardest hit areas, pay for Guard activations and help with emergency food and water if desired by the states.
State and local governments should be in charge.
Politically, George Bush took the hit for Katrina while the Mayor of New Orleans never got off his duff and executed an evacuation plan.
In the case of Helene, Biden and Harris should have declared an emergency sooner than five days later.
Actually those who produce that bread would not have the means to do so without God. Everything you have was given to by God .He receives all the Glory.
True but 5 days later is not acceptable for FEMA considering the destruction. Holding up flight clearances was unpardonable. Yes the money given to migrants was not technically for FEMA disaster relief this is the “climate” change experts who have been telling us for years hurricanes & weather extremes will get worse but they didn’t plan for it? Now they are broke? Biden/Harris priorities are skewed. Our taxpayer monies should go to our local disaster relief not to FEMA for migrants legal or otherwise. I had to prove I could support my husband before he was allowed in. Biden/Harris are responsible.
I'm fine with the government / FEMA not helping...just don't send billions of our money and resources to Ukraine and other foreign countries when our own country needs it. Our oil and gas reserve is near empty thanks to Dementia Joe. 370 electrical substations (per Duke Energy) were destroyed by the hurricane and flood. The parts to repair and build new ones were sent to Ukraine to repair their electrical systems gutting our electrical equipment reserves. It will take years to re-build Western Carolina, eastern Tennessee not from lack of manpower (yes, I will continue to use that term) but lack of funds and supplies. Americans are already financially strapped due to inflation (another Biden administration debacle thanks to the "Inflation Reduction Act") but we're giving what we can to charities and buying supplies to convoy to these disaster areas. Biden/Harris have done more to destroy this country in the last 3.5 years than any administration I've ever seen in my 59 years. It's time for them to go! Make Harris Walter Mondale on November 5th!
"You do not need to imagine maliciousness when the government that got research showing COVID doesn’t spread well outside decided to shut down beaches."
"The government is not malicious. The trolls are preying on many people’s existing distrust of government to sow more discord and division."
A bit of mixed messaging here I think is indicative of Erick struggling to fully embrace the actual level of Democrat evil deceit and incompetence... combined with his tendency to criticize those that do.
Same as the tornado earlier this year in my home town, FEMA was visible here for a day or two, Red Cross was noticeable for a couple of days, but the Southern Baptists were here first and were the last to leave many weeks later. Yeah, it's been 4 months and cleanup and repairs are ongoing, but it was mostly private organizations that filled in most of the need gaps in the community, with a LOT!!!!! of help from neighbors from all sectors of town and all over northeast Oklahoma.
It used to be that FEMA said we need to be able to manage on our own for 72 hours till they can get there. It looks like we need to be able to manage on our own for at least 7-10 days.
And Biden is saying that, 'People are happy. They're getting everything they need.' (after he said he wasn't sure what storm a reporter was asking about.)
That's what you get when 1) you have a president so brain-addled he makes Ozzy Osborne look like Socrates and 2) you have an administration and FEMA more focused on 'equity' in their relief efforts than actually helping based on need.
Erick, this was an excellent article. I am a long time believer and supporter of smaller Federal Govt. Since the days when Jimmy Carter created the Educational Dept. in DC. DC is a cespool of incompetent people who have life time jobs with NO accountability. FEMA heads the list with their inability to assist Local Government BCAUSE THEY (FEMA) WANTS ALL THE GLORY FROM THEIR MEASLY EFFORTS.
Erick. I am a big fan. I rarely disagree with your papers. BUT... on this approach I think you are stomping all over to the main lead and perhaps giving Harris a life line.
If I were writing this paper, I would summarize it as
"Nice Job Brownie" and skip the lecture on fake info.
Why help someone like Harris who is channeling Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake"?
Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you read especially if it’s on the internet my next pearl of wisdom is If your depending on the government to help you you are screwed.
My brother is at the Hickory Airport volunteering with the effort. He would be a great person to have on your show today as he can describe what is happening there. The pilots are delivering supplies and bring out the elderly nursing home patients. They have volunteers sitting with them until they are able to be transported to the new facility. Truckloads of supplies arrive and are unloaded and sorted. It's an amazing effort from a small town airport. Operation Airdrop is the organization they are supporting. They began on Monday.

While all this is true, it’s just so frustrating how the government spends our hard-earned tax dollars. They have forgotten they work for us.

I was unaware that Obama had dementia???

Now the wisdom to be found in this article far exceeds the monetary cost of $7.00 per month.
Erick, thanks for the reset, again. Peace be with you!

Here’s the biggest problem with this election.
Even if the Dems came out and said they were stealing the election. Or even if they hid that fact.
What would you be able to do about it?
The dems could go out and defraud the election. Print millions of fake ballots and honestly what would you be able to do?
Speak up and you get arrested or even killed. Attempt to protest and you will get sent to jail for 20 years for trespassing.
Pretty sure that is what is going to happen. People are going to be in denial until they are being marched onto the trains. So to speak.
Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you read especially if it’s on the internet my next pearl of wisdom is If your depending on the government to help you you are screwed.

It’s a shame it takes a disaster to clearly put in peoples’ faces what a thoroughly crappy god government is.
