I support the provisions on minors and texting, even though it should go through age 17, not 12, and require parental approval in each instance, not just notice.
The putting hashed gibberish of every known c. p*rn photo on earth on every iPhone seems creepy, and once a hacker figures out how to uncode it, would be a disaster; but I concede the tech details are over my head.
The *huge* problem with Apple ending full encryption is the way Democrats, the Deep State (also Democrats), the Big Tech Oligopoly (also Democrats), and the Democrat Media (MSM) operate:

We are expanding our pro-child initiative to messaging re trafficking. No one but traffickers need worry.
We are expanding it to messaging re terrorism planning. Who could be against that?

We are expanding it to cover “hate speech.” Love will conquer hate.
We are expanding it to cover anti-American extremism. We are sorry we didn’t do it sooner. White extremists are the most dangerous thing to the US after climate change, says Pres Biden and Gen. Milley.
We are expanding it to cover criticism of China. Such rhetoric could lead to war, and insults our partner in combatting climate change. Disrespecting the CCP helps no one working to save our planet. In fact, we’re expanding it to cover climate denial, COVID misinformation, and criticism of “teaching US history” (aka CRT).
Real encryption, bitcoin, and gab may soon be the only hope for conservatives and people of faith, as the Dems are moving in for the Cultural Revolution Act 2 and the GOP is focused on protecting low taxes for billionaire hedge fund and private equity Democrats.
I think you glossed over the real concern which is the slippery slope. Definitely the child protection actions are nice. Definitely the idea of what they want to do to minimize child porn is good, but the bad guys will simply stop backing up photos to iCloud...pretty easy fix for the bad guy.

Don't like Apple. Never have. Never will.
But for them to try and reduce the amount of harm being done to our kids.
