I never paid that much attention to Tucker even when he was Fox so I’m thankfully oblivious to what he says. But I do have a serious bone to pick regarding Ukraine and our support. The fact that they just - just - lowered their draft age from 27 to 25 is telling. For a nation supposedly fighting for its life, their draft age should be at least 18 - if not even lower. We drafted men at 18 when we were not fighting for our existence. And the fact that this isn’t being discussed full bore by both Democrats and Republicans as well as the media gives more credence to the conspiracy idea that the fix is in on the Ukraine.

You're sadly on target, Erick. More and more former conservatives are mutating into old-fashioned commie pinkos, with the exception that even the old American commie pinkos could be counted on to hate Arab dictators and jihadists.

Tucker has gotten too bizarre for me. He's always been just on the edge but he finally crossed it with the Russia tour. Owens need not to apologize to Muslims on my behalf. Maybe she will be the guest speaker at the next "death to America" meeting in Detroit.

Erick, thanks for the update on Tucker. Disappointing for sure, but I tuned him out a long time ago before these two unforced errors....

Believe none of what you read half of what you see and never trust media to tell you the whole story without a bias. You have a brain use it,the truth is out there it just takes time for it to seep out and when it does the MSM is ready to move on

I finished the interview over breakfast.

War is always messy. People get killed and stuff damaged. Neutral Switzerland was accidentally bombed a few times in WW2.

People in the mid east have been fighting each other since Moses. The one kingdom of Israel became two and they were absorbed by someone more powerful. The Jews and Christians living there during the Muslim period had to endure hardships. You had to pay a “tax” as an unbeliever as a tribute. You also had to wear a heavy weight around your neck.

Everyone still believes in punishing the sins of the fathers in our time. It is time to bury the hatred and treat each other with respect. A difficult task.

The first part was about the plight of Christians in Palestine. Good points made. Who was the sniper at the church? Israeli soldier or Muslim? Not much the Israelis could do there to help/hinder Christians.

Israel proper is another story. I can see their views on evangelical outreach since they were forced to convert centuries ago. Read the last lines of Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice as an example. Still if your faith is secure, you will not be converted.

Rant over.

Thanks again for pointing out things like this. Seeing how difficult it is becoming to get to know the facts (truth), I am more thankful than ever that at least we have the Holy Scriptures, the unchanging Word of God, and Jesus Christ the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only way to the Father, the Only one is whom is salvation from sin (Satan's lies about God and ourselves and every other kind of deviation from the truth). It is good to read things written by someone who believes the Word of God.

I can’t remember a time when it was so hard to discern the truth. It’s so hard to figure out the motivation people have for what they do and say. Part of the reason I look to you to understand this modern mess, is that your perspective is grounded in your faith in God. The only thing I completely trust is the Bible. The heart of man is inherently wicked. Come Lord Jesus.

Erick your article is extremely clear. I must vehemently disagree with those who attempt to praise this piece then as they attempt to shake your hand in congratulations then slap you with the other hand calling you silly, uncritical in your thinking and tribal! Of course, you dared to touch those deemed precious by them. I have liked Carlson, but I will not judge him simply because he is "gutsy." I will hold him up to true conservative thought and a Judeo-Christian ethic he seems hell-bent on trashing at will. Carlson isn't leaving conservative thought, he's proving he was never actually conservative--and as a pastor, I am forced to reevaluate his attestations of being a believer. You said in a Tweeted response you sometimes feel lonely. As a friend, a fan, and a pastor, allow me to say this: our "feelings" are too often indicators of spiritual battle and an effective tool of Satan. I'm praying for you!

The horrors of October 7 were terrible enough without perpetuating the myth about the beheading of babies. Christians and those on the right need to hold themselves to the highest standard of truth, which is ironically necessary for me to point out in a post about how post-modernists don't believe in objective truth. What Hamas carried out on October 7 was evil and tragic. Inaccurately reporting on October 7 isn't necessary to make your point, and it's deteriorating your credibility.

According to Bituah Leumi, Israel's social security agency, one baby was killed on October 7. Her name was Mila Cohen, and she was shot. A total of 36 children were killed, 20 of them under the age of 15, and none of them was reported by Israel as being beheaded.

"Colonel Golan Vach, head of the army's search and rescue unit, who told a group of journalists, including one from AFP, that he 'personally' transported 'a decapitated baby' found in the arms of his mother in the Beeri kibbutz. According to Bituah Leumi, only one baby was killed in Beeri: the 10-month-old Mila Cohen, whose mother survived."

Erick - your first paragraph is spot on and I wish more people were aware of this reality.

Though you do it far less than many others, I notice that you have a tendency to combat people's argument's based in part on who else holds the same view. In this case pointing out that Carlson being on the same side as the far left on college campuses. The argument against Carlson's position stands on its own merits. Pointing out who else holds this reprehensible view reinforces a tribalism that is corrosive in our national discourse / politics. To many people believe whatever their tribe believes on every issue. IMO, Both the Right and Left have inconsistent views on a wide variety of issues across taxes, free speech, abortion, climate change, gun rights, etc. If someone toes the tribal line on every issue than I doubt they are able to think for themselves. While I tend to go with the Right on many issues, I don't on all issues and the people I know that do seem a bit cultish.

I appreciate that you tend to rely more on evidence, rationale in your arguments than many of your peers. Relying on the tribal narrative to make a point to me seems like a combination of poor critical thinking skills and laziness. The last couple of years of Rush on the air seemed like it was all tribal all the time and was frankly hard to listen to.

We are in a world full of grifters that have access to virtual megaphones via the internet. The crowd of those to trust grows smaller by the day while the crowd of those with a good scam continues to multiply like weeds. There have always been pied pipers willing to lead and mindless listeners willing to follow. People looking for "their truth" in somebody else's words. Unfortunately we also call these mindless sheep "voters" and are willing to pull the handle for the latest politician feeding them a line they take in with glee. The thought of turning off the news from the outside world and sitting on a quiet dock with a fishing line out sounds inviting. I may even put some bait on the line and try to actually catch a fish or maybe just skip the bait and enjoy the day.

Back in 2007, a quote started making the rounds on the internet, one that has been misattributed to Mark Twain: “If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you are mis-informed”. It’s not exactly 100% clear where that quote came from. Otherwise, it’s a great quote, and quite true.

But I would like to modify it for 2024: “If you don’t get the news, you are uninformed. If you do get the news, you are mis-informed. If you get your news from social media, you are dis-informed”.

It's amazing to me that populists like Tucker, Candace, and their legions of troll followers on Twitter will be the first to question the conservatives of people like Ben Shapiro (arguing that he supports Israel because of greed or that he is somehow disloyal to the United States) but then ignore that on the issue of Israel they are marching in solidarity with the Far-Left that hates America, Christianity, and Western Civilization. How can you call yourself America First and question the motives of conservatives when you are siding with Islamists and Left-Wing radicals?

The reason the Right loses the culture war is in part disorganization between the establishment GOP and populist grassroots after the Iraq War, 2008 financial collapse, and Obergefell gay marriage ruling. Those issues and the advances of the Obama coalition broke the Reagan consensus and led to the rise of Trump but also an army of grifters who, while the Left runs circles around them and gains power in our institutions, are content to normalize bigotry online and tear down conservatives that can actually fight back. Majorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz are a part of the same phenomenon. The Israel conflict has brought to the mainstream the antisemitic fringe of the alt-right (as is happening on the Left) with populist influencing joining with the Nick Fuentes trolls.

How does the Right correct course? I don't think it will until there is a leader who can reforge a consensus between the different branches of conservatism. My hope was that it was DeSantis but GOP voters decided to go with four more years of crazy. God help us until Republicans regain their sanity.
