Truly, I have no words to add to the hundreds of thousands already written about the death of Elizabeth II. I can only offer my prayers. Her shoes are too big for anyone to fill, so I will also pray all of us can give King Charles the grace to walk in his own shoes in his own way, unshackled from the expectations left by our memories of his predecessor, his mother, the Queen. In the shadow of his mother’s crown for so long, he now comes into the light beneath its weight on his head and its burdens on his shoulders as he and his people mourn Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. What a time.
Two overwhelming messages, for me, from the days’ events—God graciously took her home while she was still mentally and, for the most part, physically strong, having just welcomed the new PM and then going Home within days. Secondly the double rainbow. These two things, for me, as a Christian, clearly indicate a loving God Who welcomed her home with “Well done good and faithful servant,” and sent us a message.
A Very thoughtful and insightful article. Thank you. It’s refreshing to read something that lays out logically what we are experiencing with news in today’s world. I read somewhere that if the left stopped the constant bashing of Trump and the Republicans there would be silence; I believe that. I also hear people say that the conservatives are extremists but all I have observed is a Left that has gone too far left and the conservatives are finally standing up and saying enough. This is truly a battle to get this country back to the middle, not the new middle which is further left but the left moving towards the right and the right moving towards the left—the middle. Can it be achieved? Only if what you said “the progressives begin to listen to and try to understand the other’s viewpoints without attempting to shut it down”. We’ll see but I think the fight is far from over.
Over the years, I’ve developed social media friendships with a number of liberal progressives due to our common love of horses, and our shared dislike of radical animal “rights” activists who equate any horse ownership (other than “sanctuaries” who they fundraise for) as “animal abuse” akin to “slavery”. We never discuss politics, even though I’m sure they know about mine, just as I know about theirs. We just…don’t ever talk about it.
But yesterday, I was heartened to see that everyone I know in the “horse world”, from both sides of the political aisle, were posting messages of grief for the loss of Queen Elizabeth. Progressive liberals to Trump supporters, were mourning the loss of a great equestrian. Maybe there are some areas where we can find common ground, after all.

Woke white westerners are the political descendants of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini and Mao - their only issue is they don’t have military power, yet. However, their tendencies to destroy those with whom they disagree, e.g., don’t hire anyone who worked for Trump, someone did a stupid tweet at 15 and should never work again, some kid said something offensive on YouTube at 16 and has no business going to college, etc - shows they would recreate the gulags if they could.
I’m a conservative who lives in woke land in Atlanta. My yard sign neighbors are friendly because they do not know my politics. It is funny all of us in town conservatives are quiet in my neighborhood, but we all know who each other is. It’s a choice to live here and the libs as neighbors don’t bother me - live and let live. However, I’m not sure they’d feel the same about me. The Dem canvassers do walk on by my house each time they are out. 😀
She was a great Lady! May she rest in peace.

Really fine essay. Might be long but really worth the read.
Too lengthy. I skipped to the end and read the last sentence.
When and why did the people of this country become a country of intolerant haters.
If you don’t like something fix it. If you think this country is so awful go somewhere else.
I am just tired of people spewing such hatred for one thing or another because they think that they have a platform to do so. I’m not listening.
