For six thousand years, the world has actually been kept stable through violence and threats thereof.

Peace through superior firepower.

The only question is what are the rules imposed by the folks on top when the dust settles?

Sun Tzu said, If you do not know where yiu are weakest, your enemy does. And it will attack you where you are the weakest - not the strongest.

Biden's gift to Putin of a list of infrastructure, etc. that needed to be off limits to cyberattacks has identified where we are weakest, and these are the targets Putin will most likely attack to inflict the maximum damage/confusion in our country.

Favorite quote which encapsulates the administrations quagmire: " Pronoun lectures and drag queens in military corridors are no match for tanks." I'd laugh out loud if it wasn't so sadly true.....

Meanwhile the far right and Faux News are basically rooting Putin on, talking about how much of a genius he is and how much they respect him. So much so, that the show that occupies their nightly 8pm timeslot often has portions replayed on Russian State TV to buffer and support Putin's actions. It's ridiculous. I thought the Republicans were the antisocialism anticommunism party? Interesting...

Crash you just burned big time with your analysis. Tucker Carlson is simply asking why any sane country would militarily challenge a nuclear armed foe over a small neighbor 5,500 miles and of no strategic importance to the United States. Your kind of thinking has got us involved in every miserable quagmire (you can look this word up) we've been in since the Korean War. As Erick points out Biden's response is too little, too late. Furthermore, the moment we commit troops to the Ukraine, China will "reunify" with Taiwan. I thought Democrats are smart enough to see this.

What kind of thinking? What are you talking about? I never said send troops to Ukraine. I asked why are Republicans and right wing talking heads, former president and CIA director kissing our enemy Putin's ass? Dont mischaraterize what I said. It is there for everyone to read...clearly.....you burned, not me. I dont need a dictionary. You apparently can't read what I clearly elocuted. Look that up.

As a conservative History professor who supported Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, neither of whom could be nominated by today's Republican party, the hypocrisy of folks condemning Biden (and rightly so) for his infamous Afghanistan withdrawal and hard-to-defend policies but at the same time giving the former president a pass on his equally infamous stab-in-the-back of the Kurds and his ass-kissing of Putin. It would seem to me that we have two political parties that have been taken over by the Far Right and the Far Left leaving some of us to wonder how this came to be. It is just so sad and frankly, so sick.

I've been reading too many student papers to have made such a grammatical error in my post. I meant to add to my first sentence the words ... "his ass-kissing of Putin is incredible to witness." Ok, my brain is frozen so an abject apology for this error. Ray

Crash, simple sort of unrelated question: Why is the Biden administration letting people into our southern border, and flying some of them all over the country in the dead of night? It’s not deniable that this is happening. Didn’t happen during the previous administration, but a full cascade now. What do you suppose is the reason?

Expand full comment

Oh the you mean the GOP talking point du jour? Well if they actually did tell the whole story instead of purposefully trying to inflame and mislead, those flights are unaccompanied minors being flown to centers where they are reunited with sponsors, family members, etc. As for the other flights with adult ice detainees, those people were already here and in custody. Those flights were to move them from one detention center to another and are purposeful being conflated with the flights containing minors from the border. You can fact check this yourself. But let's not get off track here. Why are right wing pundits, even the former CIA director and the former president so cozy with and hold Putin in such high regard? Trump even suggested that the US should mimic Russia and send a "peacekeeping" force across the border into Mexico. Seriously? This is madness.

Well, why do these flights take place and end in the wee hours? Almost as if they don't want the flights to be know about. But, my point in mentioning the cascade of non-citizens streaming into our southern border is because it was not happening under the previous admin. at anywhere near the level of the current admin. The skyrocketing intrusions began after Biden took office. So, it's essentially an open door policy.

I watch Tucker a lot. I critically listen to him as I critically listen to and read Erick's work. Tucker is not a fan of Putin, but says Biden is more worried about Ukraine's border than our own. Tucker, Trump, and others admiring Putin? I think that it is a more a realization that Putin is in charge. It seems the Russians have a penchant for overly strong leaders, or maybe they're are just not used to anything else. But what can we do? They are a first-tier nuclear power and a war with them is unthinkable. So they must be dealt with using our own strength and in mutual national self-interest. I know no one on the right wants Putin to invade Ukraine, but fighting Russia is not an option and the sanctions Biden will impose will probably end up just hurting Americans. If Russia continues and tries to threaten NATO countries, such as Poland, formerly part of the USSR, the situation will get incredibly dire.

And Cash, thanks for replying because echo chambers are of not much use.

Spot on. And the far left in this country rejoices at US emasculation.

This is not unplanned Erick. This is going exactly as Biden and globalists have planned. Make no mistake. The single biggest thing we need to do is make sure the November 2022 elections are secure.
