Donât Expect Biden to Go Anywhere
Hereâs the reality. Biden controls the delegates and they cannot abandon him legally. Biden also has an extraordinary chip on his shoulder over 2016 and has long been convinced Dems wanted to shove him aside. He does not want to be shoved aside and the only way to get him out of the race is to shove him downstairs.Â
Concurrently, Democrats have a huge problem. They emboldened left-wing activists to stop Trump. Those activists are now attacking Jews in the streets, firebombing fire departments in Atlanta, and invading sporting events to disrupt them. They will not go peacefully into the night. An open convention would be a disaster and a brokered convention would lead to a moderate candidate these activists cannot tolerate. It is far easier to keep Biden and hope the Democratsâ ground game operation and turn out the vote. Republicans are obsessed that Gavin Newsom will be the replacement. Every single Democrat strategist knows Newsom is too far left and must be stopped. The path of least resistance is to stick with Biden, which is why they probably will.
Debate Coverage
The fallout from Joe Bidenâs disastrous debate performance continues to reverberate throughout political circles with a shocking number of prominent Democrats demanding that Biden step aside.
Frank Luntz conducted a focus group of 14 undecided voters during the debate. Hereâs his quote on CNBC: âMy focus group all came in undecided from swing states, 12 of the 14 swung to Donald Trump. Only one to Joe Biden.â
Former Sen. Claire McCaskill and Biden ally with an unbelievable quote: âI have never wanted to be a surrogate more than I do right now. Because when you are a surrogate, you have to focus on the positives. But I have said very clearly and plainly that my job now is to be really honest. Joe Biden had one thing he had to do tonight and he didnât do it.â
John Heilemann on MSNBC this morning: âI canât overstate the degree of freakout about what they were seeing. I donât know what will happen now, but I will tell you, by the time you got to the first commercial break, you had the highest levels of the Democratic Party, senators, governors, Congress people, biggest bundlers, biggest donors, there were conversations about, âWhat do we do know?ââ
Even Willie Geist on MSNBC couldnât spin this in Bidenâs favor.
đ¨ Scott Jennings on CNN: "We have been told for weeks, weeks, by Democrats who say, oh, in private meetings, I've seen Joe Biden do cartwheels and handstands while doing trigonometry while solving all the nation's problems. We now know that every single person who said that has been lying to the American people."
Notable Quotes
Jake Sherman: âIâve had a lot of conversations in the last 7 hours with congressional democrats. Their sense isnât that this was a bad debate. It is much worse than that. In their view, Biden didnât even clear the lowest bar. They may agree with him on policy. But Biden wasnât even able to articulate what his policies are. For Democrats running down ballot, this is an incredibly serious problem.â
Alex Thompson: "As someone that's reported on Biden's age quite a few times, I can tell you that the WH's response every single time it has come up, for three and a half years, has been to deflect, to gaslight, to not tell the truth..."
Dave Wasserman: âThis debate making abundantly clear that Bidenâs insistence on running for another term - when 66% of voters in our swing state poll believe itâs likely he wonât be able to finish a second term - has gravely jeopardized Demsâ prospects to defeat Trump.â
The Movement to Convince Biden to Not Run Is Real
One House Democrat said he spoke for others in the wake of the presidentâs stunningly feeble debate performance on Thursday: âThe movement to convince Biden to not run is real.â
The House member, an outspoken defender of the president, said that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer should consider âa combined effortâ to nudge President Joe Biden out of the race.

Still Biden
But as I said at the beginning, CNNâs Kayla Tausche reports that Biden is not dropping out and is still committed to a second debate

Market snapshot:
Yes to second debate... Not only hubris on display but drive home the point that everyone who is responsible and accountable to the American people for ensuring transparency has been lying to us. They were not being played, they were in on the game.
The gaslighting, telling us the debate performance did not outweigh his great policies is just evidence they will continue to lie.
His debate performance absolutely reflected his presidency, the economy is I ruines, inflation, America's enemies emboldened, a defacto world war III, real income down, families struggling, the anti-Semitic left on full display.
Just overthinking here...
Since Joe won't drop out, do you think if he has a "normal" second debate they'll be leading with the "comeback" story?
