Jack Phillips
The Colorado Christian baker who has spent the past decade dealing with lawsuits from progressives, lost an appeal yesterday on his latest legal battle.
What happened: Phillips was sued under Colorado’s anti-discrimination law over his refusal to make a birthday cake celebrating a gender transition. The Colorado Court of Appeals deemed the cake was not considered “speech” and claimed Phillips was compelled to make the cake.
Context: Phillips is fresh off of a win at the Supreme Court after he was previously sued for refusing to make a cake for a gay wedding.
Gas vs Electric
It is now officially cheaper to drive a gas-powered car than an electric vehicle. Here’s the data:
However, a recent report from the Anderson Economic Group (AEG) found that fueling costs from mid-priced ICE-powered vehicles are lower than similarly priced electric vehicles. Combustion drivers pay about $11.29 per 100 miles on the road. EV drivers who charge up at home spend about $11.60 per 100 miles. The price difference is more dramatic for those who mainly recharge at stations. Frequent charging station users pay $14.40 per 100 miles.
Officer Resigns Over Traditional Marriage
A police officer in Georgia has resigned after his superiors told him he could not share controversial religious views - such as support of traditional marriage - on his personal social media channels.
What happened: Jacob Kersey, a police officer from Savannah, posted the following message to Facebook: God designed marriage. Marriage refers to Christ and the church. That’s why there is no such thing as homosexual marriage. Kersey received a call the following day from his superior demanding he delete the post or face possible termination. Kersey refused to delete the post and was placed on administrative leave. Ultimately, Kersey was allowed to return to work but was told he was not allowed to share his “interpretation or opinion on Scripture if it was deemed offensive.” The officer turned in his badge a few days later. Market snapshot:
So how much is it to replace the batteries? They say tesla batteries last 100k or 6 to 10 years, and cost 16,000 to 20,000 plus labor to replace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp0tGI1KUVU see this guy whose batteries went bad after 5 years and blew his up rather than pay 22k. I was looking at getting a Toyota hybrid and their batteries cost $7500 plus labor, Chrysler hybrid costs $13,500 to replace plus labor. I basically would have to save every month so I could replace the battery when it goes bad.
On the Gas vs Electric. A few data variables with the data. If you have a free charger you use at work, which i do, then its even cheaper to charge. I also have special hours through the power company to charge so its a cheaper rate. But honestly I have had an EV since 2012. The cost is astronomically different. Where I drive 26 miles to work each way for a total of 52 miles. I was refueling 2 - 3 times per week at about $100 if not more. Or about $500 in gas which equates to quite a lot every year. Add in the multiple Oil changes and brake maintenance, there is no way EV's cost more in that regard.
I don't have to replace my brakes, so thats more savings.
Now, do i still pay SOME costs, of course I do. My electric bill is not $500 more every month however. It went up about $40 a month as compared to before I got an EV. Add in I now have 2 EV's.
I guess if your always charging at home and constantly charging, maybe. But i am sorry i don't see it.
I am not an enviro wacko either. I have an EV because I like the ride and for my lifestyle its convenient.
