Regulating Homeschools

Scientific American has an article being circulated by the left that bemoans the fact that homeschooled children don’t have a government-mandated uniform education standard they must follow. The author went so far as to say that homeschooled children “are at risk of a poor education or even abuse.”

In the worst cases, home­school­ing hides abuse. In 2020 an 11-year-old boy in Michigan was found dead after his stepmother used homeschooling to conceal years of torture. A small study of children who had been seriously abused found that eight of 17 school-age victims were ostensibly being home­schooled. In these cases, homeschooling was a farce—a hole in children’s social safety net for abusers to exploit.

The Pro-Hamas Washington Post

As chaos continues to grip the pro-Hamas Washington Post, the Washington Free Beacon has an exclusive piece detailing the significant number of reporters who the Post hired directly from Al Jazeera. As Osama bin Laden's favorite news outlet, Al Jazeera is notably anti-Israel and has known credibility issues going back decades.

Here’s the paragraph that matters:

The Al Jazeera-Washington Post pipeline raises ethical questions for an American newspaper that prides itself as a bulwark against threats to "democracy." Founded in 1996, Al Jazeera has been described by an Israeli court as an "intelligence and propaganda arm" for Hamas, and the outlet is banned from broadcasting in Israel, where officials alleged in February that Al Jazeera "journalist" Muhammed Wishah served as a commander in Hamas’s guided missile units. In the United States, the Justice Department ordered the network’s English language affiliate to register as a foreign agent of Qatar in 2020, though it has refused to do so.

Another War

Israel and Hezbollah are inching closer to an all-out war with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz suggesting “operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon” could be finalized soon.

How we got here: Hezbollah is a more formidable version of Hamas with Iranian financial backing and years of training via the war in Syria. Despite repeated warnings, the group has launched an increasing number of rockets at Israel resulting in multiple wildfires in recent weeks.

What changed: Tensions reached a new boiling point when Hezbollah leaders made direct threats against Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city. Haifa serves as a strategic Mediterranean port in Israel’s north with major investments from India and China.
