Speaker Johnson
House Speaker Mike Johnson is facing expulsion attempts from fellow Republicans after attempting to pass billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. When asked about the efforts against him, Johnson said the following:
"My philosophy is you do the right thing and you let the chips fall where they may. If I operated out of fear of a motion to vacate, I would never be able to do my job."
Dumb: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene - the leading voice behind the efforts to oust Johnson - added an amendment requiring anyone who votes for it to “conscript in the Ukrainian military.” Greene appears blissfully unaware that the point of funding Ukraine is to prevent US soldiers from being deployed to defend NATO allies. On a completely unrelated note, Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to deploy space lasers to defend the southern border.
Vacate: Republican leaders in the House are weighing the option of raising the threshold required to file a motion to vacate. Currently, any House member can file the motion which resulted in the ousting of Kevin McCarthy. While Johnson hasn’t made it clear whether he would pursue the change, the previous rule under Nancy Pelosi was that only party leaders could file motions to vacate.

Vanguard Warns 10-Year Treasury Yields Risk Jump Back to 5%
The Treasury market is nearing levels that risk triggering a large selloff, pushing yields on 10-year bonds back to 5%, according to Vanguard.
“We are in a danger zone right now,” Ales Koutny, head of international rates at Vanguard, said in an interview. Even a small move higher — past the critical 4.75% level — could force investors to abandon their bets on a rally, giving way to a wave of selling that could push yields toward the highs of 2007, he said.

I’m cheering Speaker Johnson. He’s showing courage at the expense of careerism.
Actually not that concerned that the Mayorkas impeachment was derailed. It wasn’t going anywhere, the dems diminished impeachment themselves, but they’re in charge. And Mayorkas is doing exactly what he was hired to do. The best impeachment is the one I hope happens this November.
