Hugh Hefner was celebrated for years as a progressive champion who led the fight against the sexual ethic of conservative evangelicals. He was deemed the liberator of women from the constraints of the patriarchy by empowering them to use their bodies as they saw fit.
All of this came crashing down this week with fresh allegations against him of deeply disturbing acts. Hugh Hefner is exactly who we always knew him to be. However, there’s a lesson in here for all of us. Take a listen:
Hefner's great sin was that he not only broke God's law, but encouraged others so to do. The military was particularly susceptible to Hefner's hedonistic philosophy -- away from home, embroiled in violence, not knowing how long one would live, etc. For a contrast, read the chapter in John Keagan's THE FACE OF BATTLE - about a soldier in WWI who took communion on the day before he went "over the top" and died.
Now we know from where Jeffrey Epstein got his inspiration.
