1. I have always contended that misinterpretations/misapplication a of them 14th Amendment have eroded the explicit purpose of the 10th.

2. Re. comments from others about the leftist agenda. Broad brush here, but they certainly don’t care about traditional western, Judeo-Christian values. If interested, run the terms “Nietzsche,” “overman” (or Superman), and “the last man” through the Google machine.

My opinion is the last man scenario is already upon us, which I believe was Francis Fukuyama, thesis. (Although I am very far removed from reading him!)

I think smallpox, even in the early 20th century, was a lot deadlier that COVID-19 is now.

Facts only seem to matter (to the left) if they are in your favor...otherwise make s**t up.

Now to see whether anyone actually follows through by taking this mandate (and 197 U.S. 11) to the Court.

"But that doesn’t mean they are telling the truth or even really understand the facts."

That's never stopped a talking head from opening their mouth and spewing disinformation before. Why should it stop them now?

Both Biden and Harris said this that the vaccinated need to be protected from the unvaccinated. If you are vaccinated why are you afraid of the unvaccinated? Are the admitting the the vaccinations don't work? If that's the case why get vaccinated at all?

Linda, you’re thinking again. Just be quiet and take your daily Pravda…’All must be vaccinated, all must be vaccinated, all…’.

I’m becoming more and more convinced that ‘progressive’ leftists are entirely frustrated by any norms, laws, and precedents that stand in the way of their image of a perfect world. Steamroll away any barriers because our living and caring desires to determine your welfare should not be encumbered. So throw out that filibuster, pack that court, sustain that unconstitutional edict as it’s done for society’s best interest. I believe the reason America has been so successful till now is because our nation has been very imperfectly crafted from its founding upon God’s Word, directly and indirectly. The need for laws and precedents were obvious because God’s Word as well as a casual inspection of human history displays that man is sinful and desperately needs barriers to live within. The left’s religion has rejected that truth and so every whim of what they view as right and good on social media and nightly news supplants the rule of law as their ever shifting ideas for the public interest devolve. Court rulings, precedent, too much like work, just make our ideas happen yesterday!

While it has been speculated that many of the founders were actually Deists, it was understood that self-government would fail without the moral compass of religion/God. Thus, your point regarding the need for laws is well-founded.

Yes, I believe that’s true, many of the framers may have been deists, cultural christians, but the Christian influence was nonetheless there. I feel we’ve been fortunate and blessed to live in a nation where people of good will of all faiths and even no faith can coexist under freedom. But, without the fence of our founding documents this disparate people will rend themselves apart. I think there’s an inherent blessing from God when as a nation we stumble into honoring (if short of loving) God and loving our neighbors. Fallible Americans need to humble themselves and live within the confines of our laws - Biden and the vaccine mandates/maintaining a southern border, for example. Our leaders should all honor the Constitution they’ve sworn to uphold, and not seek out ‘the greater good’ by stepping outside of it, egged on by a self-righteous mob.

Biden's actions are likely unconstitutional, yes, but it'll still require the courts to stop him and that's likely to take a while. Meanwhile, every self-righteous "enlightened" CEO who's been awaiting an excuse to pull the trigger on a mandate now has one. This experience (COVID) and my unvaccinated status (for medical reasons and acquired immunity, which I've detailed on this board previously) have left me with a very small, yet bitter inkling of what it's like to be discriminated against. Science, that 2x4 the left has used to pummel us with these past two years, has recently produced multiple studies touting the efficacy of acquired or "natural" immunity, which I thought might relieve the tension and narrow the divide. But that doesn't move the scale for those who are terrified of COVID and allow emotions to rule their lives. They still view me and those like me as a bona-fide threat to THEIR existence, despite their vaccinated status. It's totally irrational and baseless, yet no one in the CDC, NIH, or the the administration will say as much. On the contrary, they continue to stoke the flames of panic and further the divide. Even President Unite-r goes on national TV and eggs them on with his "our patience is wearing thin" statement. Why?? Remember the words of Saul Alinsky: Never let a good crisis go to waste. (Rules for Radicals, pg 89)

Every corporation is going to have "carve-outs" where the vaccines will be refused. Commercial pilots are examples of this. No smart pilot will risk loosing his medical and career from a vaccine reaction to satisfy some CEOs desire to have everyone vaccinated. Nurses and specialists are another area where exceptions will be made. Every industry has "essential" people who will refuse the jab. So any mandate via OSHA will ultimately fail from a practical standpoint. The "trigger pulling" will backfire.

Carve outs like: Congress, USPS, yep. Don't be so sure about pilots...the passenger carrier pilots will likely be thrilled to line up for a shot that might save their industry...especially if they get paid to get it (which they are). The box carriers are less enthusiastic as they where never out of work. Still, for those travelling international, getting the shot simplifies life. Oh, and the cargo pilots did NOT get paid to get the shot. No airline has required pilots to get shots (yet), though announcements, by some, have been made that give that impression. The pilot unions will likely (should) fight this, but my guess is that is more just taking a stand. I don't have a single doc/nurse friend who has refused the shot...may not have been thrilled to have to get it, but haven't refused.

Expand full comment

I have lots of pilot friends that are refusing to get the jab for the reasons I've stated. Furthermore, almost all belong to the Airline Pilots Association, the largest pilot's union in the world. ALPA has always stuck up for the best interests of their members. Their leverage has never been higher than it is right now. How long do you think that they'd have to strike to bring the Government to its knees? Is there an alternative to something like a world wide strike? Yep, but it would entail a guarantee of continued pay, health insurance, etc. as well as retirement benefits for any pilot who lost a medical (could no longer fly) as a result of complications of taking the vaccine.

What Alan said, plus, sure there are pilots that don't want to get it, and may not, but I will bet you that a rather high percentage have already gotten the shot based on my previous reasoning.

Expand full comment

Not trying to get into a urination contest, but as a member of ALPA, they most certainly have NOT always stuck up for the best interests of its members. (Lee Moak comes to mind).

Also, we cannot just go on strike…especially against the government. The government has to authorize airline pilots to strike thanks to the Railway Labor Act.

There are already doctors, nurses and other professionals leaving the work place because they don't want to get vaccinated but their companies are forcing this on them! There are too many NOT working now as it is and when the work force keeps shrinking because of these unconstitutional mandates, more folks will be hurt and this is all on the Biden and his leftist minions!

The single greatest reason many hospitals are at capacity is not because there are not enough rooms it is because there is not enough staff to take care of the patients. Many nurses have left single hospital employment to become "traveling nurses" at greatly increased income.

Great explanation, Erick. These people are evil. They are hoping it will take months to years to get to the SCOTUS and in the meantime they can impose their tyranny on us and change the country. They truly are evil.

The elites will carve out exemption for themselves for mask wearing (Obama’s birthday party) and getting the vaccine. If you believe that COVID and our reactions to the government decrees are a vast conspiracy theory, your head is about to explode.
