Senate Democrats have passed the Trump-Shafer Inflation Act. That is my pet name for the Democrats’ legislation.
In 2021, then President Donald Trump and still existing Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer convinced Republicans the Georgia Senate runoffs were not worth participating in because, they alleged, the November election had been stolen and nothing had been done to stop the steal.
Out of the 700,000 people who voted in the general election in November of 2020, roughly 427,205 were Republican voters, many of whom were discouraged from voting by their own leadership.
Donald Trump went to Palm Beach. David Shafer stayed on in the Georgia GOP to attempt an internal civil war. And the Democrats have now expanded the IRS by over 80,000 auditors to persecute the middle class and small businesses thanks to Donald Trump and David Shafer.
Elections have consequences and it is remarkable the Georgia GOP Chairman has not been removed from his job.
The Democrats want Americans to believe they have nothing to fear from a massive expansion of IRS agents. “They’re only targeting billionaires,” the Democrats claim, and “if you’re innocent, you have nothing to worry about.”
George Floyd was unavailable for comment.
There are only about 1000 billionaires. The Democrats want those 80,000 new IRS auditors to go after the middle class and small business owners.
With their corporate tax increase, Americans will see reductions in hiring, reductions in pay raises, and increased costs of goods and services right as we are entering a recession.
To be sure, I suspect the Fed will show inflation has slowed in their next report. The White House, Democrats, and much of the media will credit this legislation when the Fed’s interest rate hikes have played a bigger role. But spin is more important than honesty.
And if we are honest, we should note first that the overnight headlines are this is a climate bill — a meaningful step to fight climate change, more than a meaningful step to fight inflation. Even Bernie Sanders acknowledges this is not really a bill that will meaningfully impact inflation.
And if we are honest, we should note that Democrats would not have been able to pass this had Republican leaders like Donald Trump and David Shafer in Georgia not convinced several hundred thousand Republicans to stay home instead of voting in a runoff.
There are no winners here, even as the press claims Joe Biden just got a big win.
But the real losers are the American middle-class taxpayers who’ll now see reduced pay increases, reduced hirings, higher prices, and IRS harassment.
Trust the elite. They claim it is all for your own good.
Meanwhile, as you are losing your job, remember the Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party still has his.
This. Right. Here. My husband and I had this conversation over dinner last night. This pox is upon us as a result of arrogant, petulant GOP politicians and a duped citizenry who failed to show up and vote. My husband and I will probably survive this madness but I’m very concerned for our children and grandchildren. Looks like we need to get the basement remodel finished. We may have to move some of them in 😂🤦🏻♀️
My wife works for the Government Accountability Office (GAO - apparently not an oxymoron). She is working on the IRS backlog of over 10,000,000 returns. They’ve actually cleared 11,000,000 since May. I asked her why the IRS needed an additional 80,000 people. It’s so they can catch up with the backlog, or so she says. I asked her how they can tell us within days of us filing our 2021 taxes that we owe an additional $500 because of a minor error but they can’t clear returns dating back years? No answer. This is not going to be good. And I don’t have much faith in people seeing the reason for the mess that we are going to be in. But Thank you Trump. Not.
