Though I differ STRONGLY from your opinion of the 2020 presidential election (I stand firmly with DeMint on this), you are wise to direct readers' attention to him.

DeMint's personal track record and integrity are what brought me to the Heritage Foundation in the first place, and I'm still a supporter today. I was angry at his ouster--but not enough to withdraw support.

Among those things the Trump wing of the party needs, wisdom from seasoned veterans (the "older-wisers," my nephew calls them) like DeMint tops the list.

What is DeMints position on the election? I don't believe I have heard it.

What, exactly, is "the Trump line on public policy to be held???" Handing out pardons to Medicade fraudsters as a favor to Sen. Menendez? Wandering around the White House mumbling "I'm a very stable genius..." Reversomg yourself 180 degrees every other day depending on which aide talked to you last????

You should not humor the Trumpkins - he was and is a pernicious barnacle on our party and needs to be spurned, not treated with insincere respect.

You are kidding yourself if you think the GOP can EVER win another national election without Trump supporters. But just keep virtue signaling about your superiority the peasants.

@wayne...... And look what America received in return.......Attacks on free speech, going after gun rights, job losses already, men in women’s sports, men in women’s restrooms, gasoline prices up 20%, illegal aliens ready to get free everything, expanded and even celebrated killing of babies......

Any decent Republican would have given us the benefits of Trump without the headaches. We should put him in the rear view mirror.

No, any decent republican would not have gotten us what we got from Trump. How do I know that? Because many "decent republicans" didn't bother to advance his agenda when they had the chance. I was not a Trump fan, didn't want to vote for him in the first place but finally did in 2016, and was surprised when he did the things he said he would do. I still am not a big fat of how he speaks much of the time, but I can finally look past his over the top way of speaking and see the overall positive agenda. By being unable to do so, we now have a regime that we may never rid ourselves of again. I don't believe all the wild conspiracy theories, I have never once listened or read anything from the Q anon thing, don't even know where or how to find it. But common sense should tell you that we have real anti-American people running things now all because people could not get past Trumps personality and look at his plans for the country.

I honestly don't understand this argument. What did Trump accomplish that a President Rubio would not have accomplished, other than losing the House, the Senate and the White House? Even moving the embassy to Jerusalem would have been far more likely now that the Arabs are terrified of Iran and we're no longer addicted to middle east oil.

@wayne.....and your point of view IMO is exactly what got Biden/Harris elected.

This is one of those times where one cannot argue for a purity without compromise. This isn't even a theological argument--though, if your theology is well-balanced this demonstrates the need for cleared-eyed wisdom. Politically, your recommendations are much needed. I hope they are heard. Theologically, you demonstrate how our theology allows us to see the details which are incomprehensible to many.
