If the funding in the bill actually went toward infrastructure, that would be great. However, we all know it will only be a small percentage (some claim only 5-7%) that will be for real infrastructure. Everything else is just wasteful pork (as usual). I say to GOP...walk away.

Ehhhh....this appears to be rhetoric to whip up your base Erick. Why would the "Stop Biden At All Costs" GOP be inclined to give that inch you speak about and receive nothing at all in return? That is the problem now. No one wants to budge so nothing gets done. Meanwhile the infrastructure is falling apart. Look at the condo in south Florida. Look at the I40 bridge over the Mississippi River in Memphis. Remember the bridge collapse over the Mississippi River in Minnesota about 10+ years ago. I will never understand this my way or the highway stance on either side of the aisle. It is ridiculous.

This is not rhetoric to whip up the base. This is reality. This is the Democrats asking for Bipartisanship once again but refusing to ever give anything in return. Where were calls for bipartisanship on ANY of Trump's agenda? Where was any democrat willing to help on the wall in any fashion? No sir. You do not get to try and climb up onto a hill of moral superiority when Conservatives declare they've had enough of "reaching across the aisle in good faith". The only reaching across the aisle I want now is to slap legislation out of the hands of the democrats who are demonstrating they don't really want what is good for America and don't really "just have ideological differences". They want their way or they will rally their forces to riot until they get it. Pure and simple. I've had enough of that and I won't support any candidate who supports it any longer. Period. Hope I wasn't unclear.

Fruitless. I can say the EXACT same thing about the Right. No one on the right wanted to work with Obama to get things done for the people. 2 parties both filled with hypocrites. Both sides want things on their terms....period. You perfectly illustrated EXACTLY what I am talking about. No one wants to compromise. My way or the highway. Do what I want, how I want it or else everything can go to hell. Eye for eye and tooth for tooth leaves everyone blind and toothless. I can sense the anger in your post and for what? Like I said fruitless....3rd party now!

But your point is irrelevant at the moment because the Left is HOWLING about bipartisanship to get their agenda done as though they are the paragons of compromise. They aren't. They never have been but they are trying to paint themselves as though they are to shame republicans into giving them what they want. Your comment is designed in much the same way. We, as conservatives, are to feel as though we are bad people because we won't compromise, meet in the middle, or give a little. No sir. I do not feel bad one bit for obstructing the things they Left wants to do. Not.One.Bit. I implore everyone on the right to stand-fast, not give in, and not give one more inch to the Left...for any reason. As soon as the Left "compromises" on the wall and immigration to secure our country we can discuss compromise on something the Left wants, and not a moment before.

Why is the converse not true? Both sides are lost hypocrites. It is not irrelevant. You call out the left for not compromising when you dont want to either. Thanks for making my point.

I reject your premise. Your point is that the Right needs to compromise. My point is that the ONLY time the Left calls for ANY compromise is when they cannot get what they want. There is NEVER any call to compromise on ANYTHING the Right is ever doing, and when the Right proposes compromise they are vilified. I'm fine with gridlock. It means the government isn't doing anything to me, taking anything away from me, or taxing me more. Let them eat cake. I'm happy to watch no compromise on anything. It isn't hypocritical. It is giving the gander what is good for the goose.

We have a two-party system w/ each party - in federal elections - having approximately 50 per cent support. Always one party has a very slight advantage over the other, but not for very long. For instance, since 1976, four out of eight incumbent presidents have lost re-election and two have won because of an electoral college victory w/o a majority of the popular vote. So each party must take full advantage of the slight advantage they have won. The GOP used that advantage to gain a generation long majority on the SCOTUS and further reduce the tax burden on the wealthy. The Dems were able to stop a hard 2008 recession from becoming a depression and restarted a period of economic growth which lasted longer than any time since WW2. Now Pres. Biden will try to help the nation understand that infrastructure does not simply mean hardware but also software, ie, investing in people as well as things.

Have to wonder about the optics-control police on this one, this is a pretty big (and fast) about-face.

First press conference, we're all one nation on this one; next press conference, someone must've told Biden Nancy is mad about what he said/agreed to so turned around and broke his word to the American Press. So once again, Dems choose to fracture our country.

The press will cover, but the evidence is there. A Tale of Two Press Conferences, indeed.

Republicans showed good faith and walked into a trap. They need to walk away from the deal and just vote no. Then try to get some seats in 22.

Joe Biden has made NOTHING clear. Comrade Pelosi, Upchuck Schumer, and whoever is actually running things at the White House (Ron Klain? Susan Rice? Barack Obama by remote control?), along with “The Squad” and the other Marxist radicals, have.

This is the “Being There” presidency. Think of Biden as a real life Chauncey Gardener, and you will have it right.

Hey, the pols work with what the electoral system offers them. Conservatives had to deal with the inconsistencies of an unprepared president for the previous quadrennium. Now the progressives are doing the same with the person they chose to lead them.

The Republicans still do not understand the enemy at which they are dealing with. Their can be no negotiations. It’s sad overall, we are seeing a foreshadowing of what’s to come under Republican control. Republicans will cut deals with Biden once in control, what a mistake, but it’s how the Dems will win the Senate and Whitehouse in 2024.

And let's all understand. Lawmakers are not stupid people. If they agree to this, they do it knowing exactly what is being done here. And if they do agree with this, then we should all understand that we have been completely sold out.

It might actually be a good deal for the Republicans; do the Dems really think they're going to get any of this other extraneous crap through the Senate with Manchin and Sinema? They have at least two Senators who are their Achilles heel.

Erick has gone through great pains of explaining out a lot of Democrats are using Manchin for cover. This will be interesting to watch; because you get the feeling that there may be a few Republicans that are willing to let Manchin fight for them too. This is about character and who you are. Let's find out who is lacking in one or both.
