I stopped watching Fox several years ago and haven't missed them a bit. I do like to listen to Tucker and find him other ways. Before I completely stopped, Hannity was the first to go--the day came I couldn't stand to listen to him one more time. It seems that Fox along with many of the moderates have done exactly what I thought they would do with a weakened Trump presenting less of a threat. They've returned to their pre-Trump ways of doing things and expect everyone else to go along with the plan. Not going to happen for those of us who want to continue the change that began with the Tea Party and accelerated with the Trump years. I don't want Trump back in office at all. I wish he would go home to play golf and spend time with his grandchildren. Regardless, we should continue moving forward with changes. The twenty Republicans are heroes who will never be given due credit even if they are successful in getting the right things accomplished except with the people who want the same things. There are plenty of us out here.

What could POSSIBLY be so important that after six failed bids McCarthy is still whipping for votes? And what could POSSIBLY be so terrifying that many Republicans dare not cross him? Power. McCarthy has abandoned all dignity, panicked as he is that "his" Speakership might not come to pass.

The fact that he has not withdrawn his name from consideration speaks volumes. Power corrupts. And absolute power? Well, it doesn't get much better than the Speakership.

Wonder what promises he made that’s for him so scared?

Over the past few days, it has become crystal clear who the true conservatives really are. Shame on Fox News, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Dan Crenshaw, Trey Gowdy, Donald Trump, etc. Thank you Erick and Tucker for the clarity!

Just heard a caller to Hugh Hewitt who, like me, also listens to you. Both of you make compelling arguments supporting and opposing McCarthy for speaker. It would be great to have the two of you have a civil debate on the matter.

Used the same word, “brave”, to describe the 20 to my wife and kids last night. I thought Sean Hannity’s attempted take down of Boebert was really low rent. The caucus needs to extract every ounce of flesh from McCarthy or go the distance. As for Bush, you said it all. Total racist!

Erick, If THIS isn't a time for you to activate the "army" of activists then I'm not sure when it will be. Why aren't you sending out the information for people nationwide to contact their representatives to tell them NO to McCarthy? Are you, like I am, EXPECTING the spineless Republicans to fold and vote McCarthy in as speaker? It's not your fault if they do, but if you can make it easier to contact representatives then maybe more will come on board to oppose him. Loudermilk (toast) is my establishment representative, but I guarantee you he will hear from me this morning before the next vote. Let's stop McCarthy! I so sick and tired of politicians and I agree with your comments yesterday about feeling like the party has left us conservatives behind.

I already contacted Loudermilk's office yesterday and told them I wanted him to vote NO on McCarthy and join the REAL conservatives!

On this one, because I learned a long, long time ago that engaging activists on calling their members over internal leadership fights is counter-productive. Activists have never persuaded their congressmen sufficiently to shift them on leadership fights and it burns people out to get them involved in these sorts of fights that are guaranteed not to move the needle.

Erick,

I appreciate the quick and personal reply. I did contact Louder-milk-"toast" essentially asking for conservatism over republicanism. This is so frustrating. I'm still of the camp there will be a McCarthy speakership, and he will back stab, and life goes on.... Then republicans will claim victory and true conservatives will say they fought and the battle lines will be erased as all the Washington politicians continue to work together for the good of Washington politicians.

This kind of insider commentary is what you are best at. Keep it up and thanks

I think the Republican Party needs to take a long hard look at itself.. It’s almost like they are democrat want-a-bes. I commend the 20 who want this country to get back to, by the people, for the people. I can count on one hand how many conservative senators we have left. And as for the house it’s the same. Bret Bier was not listening to anything that Chip Roy was saying. What happened to Fox News? Listen to what I am saying We the People.

And as for Cori Bush, she is the biggest racist on the planet.

I’m really sick of these entrenched politicians. Change is often not only a good thing but necessary. And I’m really disgusted by the reaction to this by Fox News. If any government institution needs a shaking up it’s Congress ( along with about a dozen others!).

Cori Bush is an a__, pure and simple.

And I'm okay with the House wrangling with this decision for a good long while.

One other thing: Jonah Goldberg's column about this debate is excellent.
