Before I begin, I would like to thank you all for your prayers. Yesterday, I started my new six non-stop hours of radio. My first show went from 9am to noon ET and the second show went from noon to 3pm ET.
I was exhausted by it. I appreciate your prayers. This will continue for some time. At noon yesterday, I stepped behind the microphone for the first time in place of Rush Limbaugh, who had long occupied that time on WSB Radio. It is humbling to move into that time given who should be there and sad to move there given the reasons. If you are curious, here was my opening addressing the voice not there and the music not played.
Now, let me also say this. I give a lot of this content away for free, though not all of it. I’ll have some big interviews coming up that will be exclusives for subscribers. Subscribing also helps support my morning radio show, which is a personal endeavor of mine that I am growing towards greater syndication. Your subscription helps.
One bit of house keeping — next week is Holy Week. By tradition, I don’t cover politics next week. You’ll get some more theologically heavy musings.
Now, on with the email.
Sidney Powell has filed a motion to dismiss the two billion dollar lawsuit against her. Powell, you will recall, promised a “kraken” and claimed she had proof that Dominion Voter Systems had collaborated with Venezuela and possibly China to steal the election. Powell claimed that Dominion’s systems were, among other things, using an algorithm to throw votes from Trump to Biden.
Numerous conspiracy theorists, including prominent elected officials, latched on to her claims. They held hearings, considered supposed experts, and more.
Yesterday, in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Sidney Powell’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the case. Powell claims her statements about Dominion Voter Systems were too outlandish for any reasonable person to believe. Her precise claim was that "no reasonable person would conclude" those "were truly statements of fact.”
Many, many people did conclude those were “truly statements of fact.”
That includes multiple members of congress, state legislators, the President of the United States, and more.
Now, believe it or not, some people are arguing that her lawyers are, in fact, making their own argument and Sidney Powell is not really claiming this, just her lawyers. Some people want to be suckers. In the real world, if your lawyers file claims on your behalf under oath in court, they are your claims. Sidney Powell’s claim is that no reasonable person would have believed her outlandish claims about Dominion Voter Systems.
But so many did.
Now, the Democrats in the House of Representatives are about to throw out a lawfully conducted election. In Iowa’s second congressional district, the Republican won by six votes. There were just over twenty absentee ballots that were rejected by bipartisan review panels based on state law. The state certified the election. The losing Democrat wants the House Democrats to place her in Congress and reject the Republican.
House Democrats are expected to do so based on the fact that if the 20 or so absentee ballots were counted, the Democrat would have won.
But it is relevant to the situation that state law required those ballots be tossed for various irregularities. Democrats will throw out both state law from Iowa and a state election certification in order to gain a seat in the House. The very Democrats who claimed democracy must be protected and state certified elections must be honored are about to throw all that out the window in order to advance their power.
By the way, the Democrats could have gone through the court system and chose, instead, to rely on Nancy Pelosi to steal the election for her. That looks like it will happen.
Republicans who tried to subvert the Electoral College based, in part, on Sidney Powell’s wild accusations and a supposed kraken have little credibility now to stand up to this assault on American democracy (whispers: republic) at the very moment they are needed.
At the border, Joe Biden has made the situation so much worse than the Trump Administration that the media has given up covering for him. Even CBS News is referring to it as a “crisis at the border” and here’s the Washington Post’s coverage:
Shortly before Christmas last year, Susan Rice and Jake Sullivan, two top advisers to President-elect Joe Biden, sat for an interview with EFE, a Spanish wire service, to issue a stark warning to migrants considering journeying north to the nation’s southern border: Don’t come now — but help is on the way.
The next day, Biden was similarly pointed, saying his administration — while eager to roll back Donald Trump’s immigration policies — first needed to implement “guardrails” to avoid winding up with “2 million people on our border.”
Less than a month later, the new president began tearing down some of the guardrails himself. He issued five immigration executive orders on Inauguration Day alone and promised an immigration policy far more humane and welcoming than that of his predecessor. His administration also began allowing unaccompanied minors into the country, a marked departure from the Trump administration’s approach.
Then there is this bit. Just savor it for a moment:
The situation at the border — which Biden and his advisers steadfastly refuse to call a crisis — is the result of an administration that was forewarned of the coming surge, yet still ill-prepared and lacking the capacity to deal with it. Administration officials have been plagued by muddled messaging, sometimes making appeals that seem directed more at liberal activists than the migrants they need to dissuade from coming to the country.
(Emphasis added)
The situation is objectively worse than it was when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called the border facilities “concentration camps.” The Biden Administration will not even let pool reporters visit the facilities, hiding behind the COVID excuse. Even Donald Trump did not keep the reporters he loathed from seeing things for themselves.
Democrats have no moral authority on the issue.
In Atlanta, the spa shooter turns out not to have been a white supremacist. According to his roommates and contemporaneous accounts, the shooter visited those spas regularly for sex. He claimed a sex and porn addiction and decided to eliminate the people who worked in the three spas as a way of eliminating temptation.
Undeterred from truth, leftwing activists are protesting anti-Asian violence, claiming a hodgepodge of white supremacy, anti-Asian propaganda, Trump supporters, etc. have led to an upsurge in violence and it is all directly reflected in the Atlanta shootings. Federal statistics actually show that most anti-Asian violence originates from African Americans. That, however, is so inconvenient to the narrative that the news media chooses either to dismiss it or argue against it.
Newly elected Senator Raphael Warnock, in fact, went on NBC’s Meet the Press and argued against the FBI Director who had said racial animus did not appear to be the motive for the shooting. When Trump was President, we were all required to agree with the FBI or else. Now, if the FBI Director rejects your preferred critical theory based narrative on white supremacy, feel free to argue against him.
Truth matters more than ever — actual truth, not your truth or my truth.
In a week, we will be focusing on the week the world tried to eliminate ultimate truth through execution. What the world could not do 2000 years ago, a lot of people seem committed to doing so now.
In 1 Timothy 4, Paul wrote, “Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Tim 4:7-8. As I argued a while back during the election, Christians who claimed Dominion Voter systems stole the election, collaborated with the Chinese, and deployed an algorithm to shift votes to Joe Biden were harming their witness when they shifted from “let me tell you about the stolen election” to “let me tell you about my Lord and Savior.” Believing the myths of the world harms your ability to deliver truth.
Truth is paramount to all things. Sidney Powell says those who believed her claims are not reasonable people. Inarguably, the perpetuation of those claims makes it harder to defend this Iowa election.
But Democrats have that problem too and they should be held to account. Their inability to see the world outside critical theory inter-sectionalism gives the GOP an opening to persuade voters and make a case against Democrat policies. Their inability to speak actual, objective truth matters. Their loyalty to Woke-O Haram can help social conservatives.
But those of us who consider ourselves conservatives need to offer each other grace in disagreement and we must truly, truly commit to what is true — not just to our own truth that placates our own confirmation bias.
Well said, and I'm personally looking forward to hearing more during Holy Week. The truth you speak will draw in listeners and even as efforts will be made to cancel you I'm predicting HIGH RATINGS will cancel the cancel culture's hopes to quell your voice. Preach on sir.
Six hours... not counting show prep? Too bad "Caf-Pow" ( Abby's drink on NCIS) isnt real. I'd order you a couple of cases. Erick Erickson... "the Iron Man of talk radio."
