Last night, 3,943 miles south of the North Pole, here in Macon, Georgia, the Northern Lights came out. We could see them with our naked eyes. They lit up the sky in shades of pink and green. They danced across the sky. They projected out streams like fingers and bands that twirled. We drove out into farmland where the city lights had faded to get a better view. My kids climbed through the sunroof of the car. My wife climbed up and laid on the roof. I stood in the road. We just watched. None of us have ever seen anything like this before.
Apple has been criticized in the last few days for an iPad Pro video where it smashed an analog life of objects into what became the iPad. But last night, millions of Americans were able to have a shared experience because of Apple’s iPhone. Not to veer off into tech here, but the company has press hard to get its phone’s camera as the best substitute to a DSLR camera. That has forced Google and Samsung to up their game too.
Every American who stood outside last night had the best camera ever made for most people and we all got stunning shot. We all got to capture shots and share them with friends because sometimes technology is cool and useful.
As the night went on and the show started fade, shooting stars came out. I was not expecting that either. I stood in my backyard after we got home and saw several streak across the waning waves of pink. God’s creation is amazing. “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.”
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Ro 1:19–20). (2016). Crossway Bibles.
Times like these I wonder about the birth pangs of a new creation. Something just seems to be happening in the souls of man and the physical surroundings of man all at one time.
Before I get more philosophical or theological, I just wanted to pass these on for all of you to enjoy. These were all shot from my iPhone with no editing. What an amazing piece of technology.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. .......Psalm 19
God IS great!!
Also be careful what you wish for.
2023 I wished I had a better car as the current one was a bit worn and breaking.
I got in a wreck totaled my car. I bought a used one that had a warranty issue, the manufacturer replaced it. So ergo I got a newer car.
2024 I was a bit overweight. I prayed to god to help me lose a bit.
I found out I had stomach cancer in April and that forced me to eat better and have lost 20lbs since. There’s a big “but” here because the word cancer sounds really bad and it is. I can’t go into detail but I have a genetic condition that basically predisposes me to cancer. So this wasn’t unexpected and it’s very early form and I’m fine. Very survivable. Part of it is I have n oncologist who specializes in my type of cancer and knew exactly how to treat it.
But God takes care of you even if you don’t want his help. I do and welcome it. He put me in the right place the right time and put me with the right doctor.
Had I been living anywhere else I might not have received this type of treatment.
So god is great. Jesus is king. If you listen he is speaking to you. Things may be dire right now but take head those low points are often just god setting things up. They are not his fault mind you. The devil is the one who created these evil things to corrupt and ruin gods creation. God uses these to turn it for good. You may not see it, may not understand it. But it will come right. Sometimes you just have to be patient. Gods plan is at work. He’s on the move.
