Erick, I know how hard it must be for you to continually try to stay in the good graces of your Trumpkin audience when you privately know what a loathsome carbuncle he is on the conservative movement. but I think this is an unethical cheap shot. The agents are probably denying the account because their official report differed so dramatically from what they popped off to a pretty girl about the incident immediately after it happened. Today there are credible reports that Ms. Hutchinson's version of events was the story widely circulating among the Secret Service details in the immediate aftermath as well. I think you owe her an apology.

So the rumor version of the story should be accepted as fact?

You are making Erick's point about facts mattering more than rumor if this committee wants to be takem seriously.

No I think the credible story given under oath, supported by contemporaneous witnesses, should be given more deference than the self-serving evasion given by the Secret Service agent. My primary objection is with Erick. Erick knows in his heart what a disgusting critter Trump is, but he is so eager to find any factoid where he can be on the side of his Trump loving audience and opposed to the MSM that he grasps at straws like this one.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression you wanted to be taken seriously and engaged in serious conversation. Your choice of language makes it clear there's nothing serious about you

There are a lot of people that dislike Trump and have serious issues with him that also believe you do not have to lie or believe every lie propagated about the man. Just because you dislike Trump does not mean you stop challenging an accusation or story that is not supported by anything other than hearsay

the agent who was present said it didn't happen, she was not not there and said it did, who do you believe??

The order of priority is Narrative First and foremost and the truth only if it supports the Narrative. It has thus always been and always will be.

No one should be shocked when a democrat-run committee produces a witness that names names and makes statements that prove to be false when those names deny it ever happened. Bret Kavanaugh's "hearing" proved that. The two sham-impeachments of Trump proved that. The silver lining in all of this is that we can visibly see all parties we can safely ignore as they parrot the committee talking points. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who believes what this group of democrats is doing is "valuable", "honest", or "damning and truthful" should not just be ignored but removed from any position of responsibility more weighty than going to their own mailbox. Hope I wasn't unclear.

LMAO at that last sentence!!

I don't think truth is important to the committee...it's the narrative that counts. Cheney's Trump hatred seems to drive her and I hope it keeps her warm on those long nights when she's wondering how she wound up shoved outside by voters.

I’m just shocked, shocked at the level of profanity in this Christian White House.

When have they ever cared about the truth? They have nothing to offer the American people and they know it.

For utilitarians, truth is one tool in the toolbox, only used when it serves the narrative. In this case, keep the light away, doesn't serve the committee's stated presupposition.

The only purpose of this clown show is to provide negative sound bites and footage of anything negative about DJT. It has nothing about the truth. It is a spectacle to provide the MSM and political pundits narrative material to play 24 hours in various forms to get the propaganda burned into peoples minds. This show has had many prequals that were "major hits" with the intended audience. Here are a few of them: 1. Any thing in Dossier/Russian collusion, 2. Fine people on both sides, 3. Russian bounties on US soldiers, 4. Dead War heroes are losers, 5. drinking/injecting bleach for covid, 6. Kids in cages,....I could go on and on. All of these still get regular play on TV and social media. Nancy Pelosi described it perfectly as a common tool in politics called the "wrap-up smear": you smear someone (Trump), then you merchandize it (give it to the press) then use the press articles as references/proof the smear is true. Disgusting.

For me this was never about the truth, it is about the third impeachment of Donald Trump and the prosecution of your political opponents.

I also don't see January 6 as an insurrection and the near destruction of the Republic as we know it. It was a disgusting display that should not have happened committed by a handful of fools whipped into an emotional frenzy by Donald Trump over the previous two months.

It is Democrats that are shredding the Constitution, destroying the Republic, and pushing tyranny. And they are doing a spectacular job of demonstrating their resolve in doing so with this committee.

It is no longer good enough to just win elections, especially if winning means you still have to engage in the Democratic process, convince, win hearts and minds. No, the troglodytes are too stupid, they will never comprehend our wise and sage words; they must be made to heal. Democrats are the silver smiths at Ephesus, not defending the status quo, but destroying it in favor of their tyranny. You are just too stupid to see their benevolence.

Kangaroo Court, Banana Republic, made-for-prime-time...these are all titles I've seen attached to this charade performance by the January 6 Committee. Yet when we follow in the footsteps of other democracies that have collapsed into totalitarianism, we will have the audacity to ask "How did this happen in America?" Facts matter, feelings do not.

Anywhere Schiff and Pelosi are near you know lies and half-truths are being told. Win at all costs and the truth be damned. I realize Trump had some major faults, but the committee is a Kangaroo Court if there ever was one.

"..their credibility..." LOL

In my opinion, only the narrative is important to the committee. Telling the truth is inconvenient.

Expand full comment

Actually, truth is dangerous to narrative, not just inconvenient. Narrative is presuppositions and pre-determined outcome spun into a story, Truth reveals the actual story, doesn't care about "winners" and "losers".
