South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is in hot water for graphically depicting how she killed her 14-month-old pheasant hunting dog named Cricket in her new book, Not My First Rodeo: Lessons from the Heartland. Noem claimed the German Wirehaired Pointer had an aggressive personality type and one day, ruined a pheasant hunt before killing a neighbor’s chicken. This was when Noem decided it was time to put the dog down. She dragged the dog to a gravel pit and shot the dog.
The tribalism in modern politics has led many on the right to accept Noem’s explanation of the events as “farm life.” The reality is that Cricket was a young dog who needed training. After one failed pheasant hunt and an unfortunate incident with the neighbor’s chickens, Noem decided to kill the happy-go-lucky dog while being angry with it. Instead of getting a trainer or putting it up for adoption, Noem shot the dog to death in a gravel pit as construction workers watched. And then there was the goat. Oh yes, the casualty count increased.
The online red pill bros - whose only reference to farm life is Yellowstone - are defending Noem’s actions because she’s on the right. If Judas had an R next to his name, I guarantee you these same people would defend Judas by saying, “Without Judas, there would be no resurrection.” But the problems with Kristi Noem don’t end there. Watch:
I'm not one of the conservatives defending Noem. I walked away when she sided with the transgender agenda and allowed men to compete in women's sports in South Dakota colleges.
I am a dog lover. I am an animal rights advocate up to a point. By that, I mean that my diet is somewhere around ninety to ninety five percent plant based. I thoroughly enjoy a ribeye or a nice slab of prime rib once in a while. As an Oklahoman, smoked ribs are an integral part of my diet, and who the hell gives up bacon if they don't have to? But, I digress.
The shooting of Cricket is a disqualifier for me. I would rather Ms. Noem remain a loyal Republican, Finish her tour as governor, and return to the farm. I hope she raises soybeans and corn. Instead of breeding or maintaining any animals whatsoever.
I have other ideas for President Trump's running mate. Should he choose Ms. Noem, I will still vote for him. That's just how bad Joe Biden is. There is no scenario where I would not vote for my party's ticket, the Republican ticket, ever.
The bribe taking, sociopathic narcissistic lying, kid-sniffing pedophile, who claims to be a Jewish, Puerto Rican, Black, Greek, Annapolis starting quarterback, 368 ft home run hitting, long haul truck driving lumberjack, fire surviving, civil rights marching, first-in-his-class scholarship lawyer, million mile train rider, who claims to have crossed the Baltimore key bridge daily, even though it doesn't have railroad tracks, who got arrested trying to visit Mandela, whose grandfather was a Purple Heart recipient that died 2 weeks before he was born in the same hospital, whose son was KIA in Iraq, and whose Uncle Bosey was eaten by cannibals is a far worse choice than a governor who, as a child, exhibited at least one marker of a serial killer.
That's just my opinion.
You are spot on. this whole story is appalling and, quite frankly, I don't know how she escapes being charged with animal cruelty at the end of the day. I live on a farm where we raise sheep, chickens, turkeys, horses and she is also a dog breeder (German Shepards) and we have also raised/trained hunting dogs. That Noem would do this to a 14 month old dog (any dog that age is going to chase birds around - and what 14 month old hunting dog is ready to go bird hunting??) shows she actually has no idea what "farm life" actually is. But then the killing of the goat because it smelled? Really? If she knew the first damn thing about goats, she'd know goats smell. But we can all now smell her political career going up in smoke. Worst and weirdest case of political suicide in recent memory.
