When pigs fly!

Apparently it’s being argued that designation of these cartels as terror groups would provide a valid asylum rationale for nearly everybody between Texas and the Panama Canal. I don’t know if it’s true, but have no doubt some federal judges would rule on it.

I grieve in advance for the innocents who will die when, not if, we give AMLO the ultimatum to either take out the cartels or we will do it for him. But Mexico IS a failed narcostate right now, and its government is bought and paid for by the cartels, which leaves us no choice, and “ world opinion” be damned.

The cartels and especially their heads must be made to see the sun, moon and stars when the operation begins - and those are the last things they should see. And if anyone should whine about the cost of all this, let’s fund it by cutting off aid to the equally corrupt government in Ukraine , which would save us the humiliation which will inevitably occur when the Russians revert to form and bloodily bludgeon their way to Kyiv.

Negotiate in Ukraine, wage war in Mexico; then we will have our priorities straight at last.

I know the corporatists who along with the Chinese run Joe Biden will clutch their pearls and whine that we’ll lose all those Mexico built cars and trucks. Too bad, so sad; lives are far more important than a few VWs, Toyotas, GM vehicles, etc.

Follow the money (and the new voters) for the answer to this question.

The Vietnam War lasted about 20 years and about 58,000 Americans got killed in it. WW 2 lasted about 4 years and about 400,000 Americans died in it. We are losing over 100,000 Americans a year now to drug overdoses and doing almost nothing about. That's more per year than got killed per year in WW 2 and almost twice as many as died during the 20 entire years of the Vietnam War. And as a drug and alcohol counselor, the problem is getting much worse. Yet our government is doing nothing about it.

And don’t forget that the cartels would be unable to participate in the mass poisoning of Americans were it not for their buddies in Beijing who are happy to provide them with the means to produce that poison.

Eric,

Thank you for opening this discussion thread.

This morning I got mad. I read about the 4 kidnapped/killed at Matamoros and had a “Holy S**t” moment. The dynamic team of Brandon & Mayorkas & Andrés Manuel López Obrador have finally stepped in it. Here is why.

Brownsville is the top spring break location in Texas. Matamoros is the border town across from Brownsville Texas. Spring break is just starting. Thousands and thousands of college kids will head there over the next 4 weeks, and ultimately make a bad decision to take a day trip to Mexico. Some won’t come back. It's inevitable.

Unfortunately, it takes piles of dead bodies to get anyone’s attention these days. By June Comer or Jordan will call hearings so we can see the grieving moms who don’t understand why our government could not keep their kids safe.

All this carnage will lie at Washington’s feet because we were too scared or too incompetent to declare the Narco terrorists a “Clear and Present Danger”.

We need to return to the policies of the last administration where tariffs and border searches slow this down. Every truck should be searched. Entry lines should be miles and miles long. Produce can rot for all I care. I am ok if I never eat another “Avocado from Mexico”.

Cheers

I'm sorry, but there is a difference between encountering violence in an environment where safety is a reasonable expectation, and encountering violence in a violent environment.

This applies to other countries and cities. This applies to US cities. I don't go to Sao Paulo and I don't go to Chicago, I won't be going to El Salvador.

As for your last comment, we are well past ecconomic punishment as leverage. The cartels don't care if produce gets sold here, there, or rots. The protection money Mexican citizens pay is mostly coming from the U.S. with relatives here sending dollars there.

The cartels income is from drug sales. Their methods are no different from the Taliban who cultivate poppies, intimidate, and kill.

Frankly I am surprised the Taliban and cartels haven't leveraged each other, with China as the broker, to set up more than just drug production in Mexico.

Biden will do nothing and you’ll be happy. It will take a new Republican President (DeSantis) before anything is actually done.

Some of the President’s actions or lack thereof make me question exactly who he is serving and where do his loyalties lie. Know them by their fruit…

He is being controlled by the ONE WORLD GOV. that is taking over this nation. They started this over 85 years ago with the planning and when President Trump STUMPED them, they are going to make sure it does NOT happen again.
