I am not sold on Kemp, I do give him credit for his COVID 19 Response. But has Kemp been a well rounded Republican Leader as Governor, I am not sure? To be honest, I expected more form Kemp and the GA republican Party. The lack of any substantial action by GA Republicans to advance issues will haunt Republicans.

And where does Brian Kemp go to get an apology from a former President he supported who has thrown him under the bus and backed up and rolled over him again and again? All because of the lie that the election was stolen.

I was was watching Saturday morning cartoons (The Today Show) and they referenced a Harvard Study saying only 9 states had met reopening criteria. So I looked up the study. Google pointed me to an article from The Hill. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/496588-harvard-study-says-only-nine-states-ready-to-safely-reopen

The article was published May 7th, I assume the study itself was published some time prior.

Three Points:

The news media, Truthers on the Left, are desperate to paint a doom and gloom scenario, and rather than report the Good News, reach back a week in an effort to advance the narrative.

Harvard study cites the Youyang Gu model. And while not horrible, he said on May 1 about reopening “This may cause a "second wave" of cases for states such as Georgia and Colorado.”

My Personal Favorite. On the same day, Forbes quotes the same study. Further down in related reading is the clickbait headline that 87% of the states reopening voted for Trump in 2016. But if you scroll down to the Key Facts section you find that 8 of the 10 states with highest per capita case rate voted for Hillary. Huh? Why wasn’t that the headline?

There certainly is a double standard.

Great, because If you read the article about Kemp’s announcements on the front page of the Telegraph today, you wouldn’t even know that Kemp was vindicated! The headline says he is “changing course“ - reader thinks, “is he backtracking?” Article never mentions the revised IHME model! Rest of article is just a muddle of facts and figures.

The current model appears already outdated. The actual numbers are far below the areas of uncertainty, rendering the model as nonsense. Isn’t there a model that starts with the actual results and projects from there?

Nobody will apologize. (I'd argue that we as a society have largely given up on apologies, because so few want to admit publicly they were wrong). It's a wonder anyone goes into politics, ever, but if they give a Prospective Politician class, I'm sure "don't expect to hear, 'I'm sorry'" is covered in the first session.

Erick what is new ? Media has always been like this.

Take Biden case how one sided the press is. The problem Is this has become the norm.

On the left side progressive liberalism there is no side. This is only a ditch.

I am afraid articles like this will make people start praying for more dead bodies.

NY media despises his southern accent, they automatically think he is dumb. He used data to decide when to close and when to open. I still think a statewide closure was not needed but I understand why he wanted to have hospital capacity just in case. Thank goodness he did not close too early and opened when he did, the economy will benefit all Georgians. He is smart to know the nursing homes need protection (love he sends the national guard to clean the facilities) because that is where any spike would be unlike that really smart governor in NY who sent infected people to nursing homes by executive order.

As far as the media is concerned, Kemp can wait in line for an apology behind Trump, which he will never get one (despite the one reporter who was honest enough to apologize). The truth doesn't matter to the media as they love all things progressive and hate all things conservative, and the truth is not a progressive value. While the media is arguing now that the country needs to stay shutdown, in another two months they may be blaming Trump and Kemp for not opening the economy up fast enough. The media did a 180 from the "Believe all women" of Kavanaugh's confirmation to "Pay no attention" to the women accusing Biden with much more reliable evidence. The media was against travel bans, until the story morphed into Trump didn't close the country fast enough. The media has no shame and the Flynn case is another example.

I also would like to hear apologies from the media, JQ Public and the President himself. The problem is that people only read headlines and don't go to the original source to READ what the Governor and his team put into place. Dr. Toomey, in her own right, is an outstanding person to be in charge of the State Corona virus task force. Just like Fauci and Birx, Ms Toomey has outstanding credentials in this area. No one seems to understand this or refuses to think Kemp might have a brain between his ears. I have spent many minutes explaining to out-of-state friends and acquaintances that Kemp has a well defined plan and he isn't opening the state willy nilly. But as you so accurately pointed out, people will only hear or see what they want to.

PLEASE, get this article published in the Telegraph- both on-line AND in print! This is one of the most important pieces you have written and gives FACTS AND FIGURES that any fair-minded person can not dispute.

It both angers me and saddens me how the media readily reports what fits the preconceived narrative and ignores good news that conflicts with their viewpoints. Slandering is the norm. Respecting patriots is impossible for that crowd.

The greatest casualty of Georgia's experience is the reputation of forecasters and "scientific" modeling, which should be kept in mind in another equally fraught context: climate modeling. Present day climate modelers are far more pernicious because their audience won't live long enough to see how far off they are
