Climate Numerology

It is important to understand the difference between absolute and relative measurements.

Do a search on "global average surface temperature (GAST)." You will find many websites that display a graph showing a line moving from negative (-0.5 to 0.0) to positive (0.0 to 1.0) during the period 1880 to 2020. Here is but one example...

https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-global-temperature

The problem is these graphs do not show the actual temperature (an absolute measure). Instead, it shows the anomaly, or difference, or departure, from a BASELINE of 0.0, i.e., a relative measure.

The more important question is what is the baseline (or, absolute) temperature? Said differently, ask any climate alarmist, "What is the global average surface temperature of the Earth SUPPOSED to be, and how do you measure it? And, has this baseline temperature been constant since the Earth cooled?"

Let's take this in another direction. During hurricane season, meteorologists will refer to their map displaying the current position of the hurricane and a graphic of a "cone" showing possible tracks the hurricane will take. The further away from the current position, the cone is larger representing the uncertainty of how the hurricane will move. Will it hit the east coast of Florida or the west coast?

This is a very short-term event that is happening...now, with the most current and up-to-date meteorological data available and they cannot predict a certain path.

And yet, climate "scientists" are able to tell us that the departure from their baseline temperature MUST be kept below 1.5 deg. C! Somehow they know this to one tenth of a degree!!! They don't provide a RANGE of departure/deviation like meteorologists predicting a hurricane path; they give us the absolute number with 100% certainty. If we keep the departure below 1.5 deg. C, we'll be ok; but if it reaches 1.5 deg. C, then humanity will cease to exist.

Don't believe me? Our President yesterday in MA: "If we don't keep it below 1.5 degrees Centigrade, we lose it all."

Erick - We should worry. If we have contributed to this disaster we should mourn the loss of sensate creatures and all plants affected. God did not ask that we ignore our follies. We have much to be sorry about.

Here's my emergency. There are 432 federal agencies in DC. I expect the majority of them to be defunded after 2024. That's the real emergency.

I thank God everyday for his creation because he designed the earth and never intended for man to be concerned about it. We have an “F” Troop administration that has totally rejected God the Father with the goal of reducing the population to achieve one World Order. I am of the opinion that Democrats and Republicans are more deadly than assault rifles.

Don’t Worry about it and Don’t Worry me about it. I will continue to drive my diesel car which doesn’t pollute as much as Kerry’s APU in his Gulfstream.

The more I think about the "climate crisis", and the more I study the Holy Scriptures, the more I believe that there are those that desire to save the planet, to prove God wrong.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

I was in Paris nearly 30 years ago during a heat wave in June/July. There was no air conditioning in the dorms I was staying in and if you did go into a business with AC, you could barely tell that it was on. It is not a new phenomenon and many more have died during previous heat waves.

Alarmism is nearly always a dead giveaway that unpopular legislation is stalled in Congress and an existential CRISIS!!!! demands we pass is so the earth doesn’t die tomorrow. In the meantime, the central planning geeks get antsyer and antsyer. This is why we need courts because it appears that within their halls reside the last few adults in American governance.

Several things about climate:

I grew up in New York City - hot, no air conditioner; we survived.

Climate alarmists: will make all the money and American taxpayer will pay for it. Just like NATO, no other country will adhere to the rules. John Kerry has been raking in the money for years and lying about global warming forever. We should have been under water 20 years ago. I heard Nancy is buying property in Florida. Look up photos of wind turbines and solar panels on our beautiful land and be alarmed. When they fail, which they will - Americans will suffer. Think about EV charging stations across every city in our country - instead of a tree; we will have a charging station.

Each Wind Turbine needs at least 80 gallons of oil to be maintained and changed yearly and the majority are built in China. They are in our oceans and on the farmland and some of the land is leased or owned by China. Have you checked out the land being bought up by China in the USA. The majority of solar panels are built in China and assembled in the USA. Both solar panels and wind turbines kill our birds and disorient the farm animals. EV battery components are mined in China and the Congo (controlled by China) and other countries. Pollutants: cobalt, nickel, lithium, manganese cause heavy pollution. If these other countries get ticked at the USA, they can stop shipping to us.

God created the USA to be an example to every other country and that is why the EU and all the elites want us to join the Global Union - take the USA down and become one of them and tell us what to do. HELL NO! And the Progressives and now the Democrat party are okay with that - what happened, what changed the Democrats to now hate America so much that they want to destroy our country and our children's lives? Kissinger, " Control oil and you control nations, control food and you control the people."

Excellent analysis. And we are in trouble because they are hell bent on getting this done fast.

Absolutely on spot...we need to focus on allowing the private sector to develop and distribute energy across the board.

Hmmm... Totally get what Erick is saying. Completely agree that there is a history of the Earth cooling and warming. And, as stated, there is evidence that Mars and Jupiter have warmed as well. At the end of the day, I do try to be 'better' with things that we buy. We do recycle Cardboard and Plastics. To be clear, we take our recycled trash to a county center. (But only when I'm heading the direction.) Burning fossil fuels to take recyclables seems to be a moot point. One Trip to one of these places, seeing all the materials, will make you think twice about tossing it in the garbage.

And we have improved our lighting in the house, as bulbs have gone out. More conscious about leaving on lights, when not needed. And there are other things that we do as well. But with that said, we purchase the vehicle we want. We eat meat (and if we cut back - it's for health driven reasons - not environmental). We take trips if we want.

Point being that you can contribute in ways of where you know materials are being reused, but not thinking you are saving the planet.

Hope this makes sense.

One other point. The people who go to recycling centers in my county are almost all 50+ years. I'm confused, I thought we were the most selfish, wasteful generation that ever existed - LOL..
