one thing that I would add is that so-call tariff refund would make inflation to go up. adding more dollars would cause items to increase in price while at the same time causing a dollar today to lose its value. seems that Trump does not realize this outcome. Trump and his administration continue to say gas prices are decrease, somehow, he (Trump) or anyone else in his administration are not pointing out what actions that have been taken or other actions that can be taken. I am surprised that Trump has not mention that he would re-start the effort to bring back the Keystone XL Pipeline that Biden ended.
Right on! Please have them listen to your common sense! We must win the midterms & hopefully next President otherwise back to DEI, Messed up military, moronic spending. However we REALLY need to get GOP to listen, spending must be cut! Keep getting rid of waste/fraud, abuse and actually have plans for dealing with health care, just saying cutt money ad hoc is not a solution! Still can't believe they have not held nation wide hearings for actual solutions from those that know and work in the fields, what's wrong in certain areas and solutions for how to improve or change them. Heck, feed it all into AI can't be any dumber than Congress and political "experts". Tired of talk & then nothing. We are losing the middle as the middle is as usual getting crused but has no "safety nets". Americans do need to change their living habits too, Congress not the only ones with a spending/saving problem.
Here is a new message: MASA -- Make America Solvent Again.
There was an article in the November 8th WSJ entitled 'Americans See a Government That Can’t Solve Their Problems.' The problem is embedded in that title. When was government assigned the role to improve my life and solve my problems? It seems to me that when government grasped that responsibility away from its citizens, that is when our fiscal problems began. Look at all the unintended consequences that have come as a result -- the deficit being the elephant in the room. America needs an attitude adjustment.
I read the entire report on tariffs from the federal reserve and your conclusion that we should go to zero tariff's on everything with everyone except communist china is delusional and insane! Read the report again! Tariff's do not cause inflation! However, they are great when used like Trump is doing. They do need to be tweaked as circumstances change, not eliminated!
I am stupid. If I buy meat I buy clearance meat. I also don't mind paying high price for Loganberry Heritage Farm meat out of Cleveland GA the taste can not be beat. My bar mate on Friday night told me to buy marked down roasts at Walmart and he was a connoisseur. Coffee at Trader's is still 6.99. I'm still a believer. The pendulum swings. Americans are a fickle bunch. I have never spent 1k on groceries in my life even when I had a crowd. I can teach you how to make a rotisserie chicken stretch to four meals for a family of four. I used to do it all the time for my patients. Buck up and stop whining. Turkey rotisserie breast at Kroger are only 12$ they are delish.
One other part of the "solution" - the Federal government MUST live within its means and begin the reduction of its debt. Until this is accomplished, nothing else will have measurable results.
I was able to buy an entire Choice NY strip at Costco the other day for $9.99 a pound and cut it into about 8 good 1.5" steaks, a couple of "bad end" steaks I used for fajitas, and about a half pound of meat trimmings to eventually go into chili. That's approaching COVID/Great Recession cheap. I've seen cheaper during those times, but not much.
That said, tenderloins are still almost $30 a pound, which is unheard of.
But yeah, get rid of tariffs on groceries and energy unless there's a strategic (natsec or geoeconomic) reason for them. I'd get rid of all non-strategic tariffs if it were up to me.
Erick your preaching to the choir I agree with you but you need to get some member of the senate or a high level congressman on your show and make it the focus of your interview it would be very informative
Yeah, go ahead, fiddle while Rome burns, you A-holes! I am so...frickin'...TIRED of politicians feeding me a crap sandwich and telling me how good it tastes. We have a real problem in this country with a large segment of our population ignoring inconvenient facts, and Trump and his administration are doing exactly that. I DESPISED Biden and Obama for doing it and expected MUCH better from this administration. But no, we get nothing from them domestically. No substantive ideas, no real solutions, no relief. Erick came up with five right off the top of his head, yet Trump's entire team seems it couldn't find their butt cheeks with both hands. Unreal. And Stephen Miller should never get near another microphone or camera. Optics guys, optics.
Erick, another absolutely "On Target" message/blog. I sincerely hope that at least some of the information you have outlined makes it to the President. My fear is those who surround him are keeping a significant amount of these kinds of facts & reality away from him. Every time I hear President Trump talk about Thanksgiving prices being 25% lower this year than last, in my mind all I hear is Biden saying how strong the economy is AND I CRINGE. Yes, it scares the daylights out of me because it validated to me he is being kept in the dark on some very important facts and sadly it does remind me of Biden! I sincerely hope and pray he hears your warning message.
I pray the WH will listen to and act on your suggestions, Erick. They are spot on and we will lose the mid-terms if they keep this BS going. I totally agree about Stephen Miller. He drives me crazy because he yells everything he says AND he is such a Trump toady. Trump repeating the Walmart scan as though it is true is embarrassing.....ugh! SOMEBODY get to him, please!!! No matter how many times he tells us the economy is great, citing all kinds of stats, it is NOT great at the grocery store. We are retired and on a fixed income and we get poorer every day....and my husband is brilliant at managing our money. As smart as Trump is he has got to wake up.
My wife loves Maxwell House French Roast Coffee. I bought 6 25.7 ounce plastic containers for $79.99 or $13.33
It was $8.50 before.

I don't believe you read the whole report because if you had, you'd see the conclusion was tariffs slow down economies and drive up unemployment.
It does not say they increase inflation!!!!!!!
All sensible advice, but ending Trump tariff madness is fundamental to improving afforidabillity.
And deregulate more.

Love the 5 points! True True True. I also agree with Fed Government living within its means!

Great message Erick!!! Both sides are a bunch of clowns.
